Went out this AM. Course is in decent shape at the moment. Tee boxes are holding up as Oscar the morning super on Sunday's is diligent in moving them around after Sat golf (thanks). Found the fairways to have good coverage and good roll out. Very little rough outside of fairway and around greens and what is there is playable IMO. No issues with the traps as they had been cleaned and I was able to avoid them as well. Greens were all mowed and held shots/chipped/putted with speed of about 9. Restaurant was open at 6 AM (nice touch) and enjoyed a great breakfast with great prices after the round. Excellent customer service in the pro shop and restaurant. Recommended. BTW they have raised the Sr rate to $17 walking (from 16 ) weekdays so all is good there.

Too much time writing about our GK match there with Roarksown1 so I'm doing a complete cheat and refer you to his review earlier in the thread which is pretty much right on. Basically some Winter effect but with relatively few, select thinner areas. Overall in good shape, well kept with good greens. Bunkers were mostly clean but firm and occasionally moist — not the easiest to hit out of. Staff there always has a good attitude and nothing there to keep me from going back and happily playing it again.

Played my GK Cup match with T8fish at Alhambra on Friday on what turned out to be a very nice winter LA afternoon. Staff at Alhambra is always nice and friendly and professional. Three-tiered driving range gets the job done ahead of the round.

Both Kevin and I walked and played from the blue (back) tees as the black tees were once again on the scorecard but not anywhere to be seen in the tee boxes. We had an 11:40 start time and were paired with two local players who were nice company throughout.

Course is in winter shape right now with everything being just a tad below its normal good shape here. There are some very nice fairways and a few with some thin or mud areas, mainly looking at the par 5 6th hole. But you're mostly going to find good lies and the rough is thick but not penal. Bunkers, usually in very good shape here, were far from it, being very thin and grainy. Not ideal. Tee boxes were mostly flat and in varying shape from just fine to a little thin and need to look around for some grass.

The greens were rolling pretty nicely but many bumps along them depending on proximity to the hole. I missed a ton of short putts yesterday that simply turned right or left just before the hole so that was frustrating, but probably as much my fault as the greens themselves. They held shots well though but I have seen them in better shape here.

All that being said, the price of $35 for this course (with a small bucket of balls) is pretty outstanding. It's a short course but it's a great place to dial in your wedges after drives that make you feel like a PGA tour pro after you mis-hit them. It's a fun layout and has its own challenges but you should definitely be putting up some of your best scores here.

POP was moving along pretty nicely all afternoon but there was no cart service to be found throughout the entire day which was a disappointment. Still, Alhambra always remains a fun little round at a course that the staff always seem to care about.

Played this AM. Very quite golf course now that rates have been raised (at least today was). Sr rates now $17 to walk with Sr card and $30 to walk on weekends. Regular rates are now $38 + (see all on website). Course in good condition. Tee boxes fine/level. Fairways green with good lies and fair amount of roll. Rough about 1/2 inch to 1 inch and sticky/wet early AM. Traps all cleaned and playable and customers are using the rakes (yea). Greens in solid shape and chip/putt with speed at about 9. Also hold/release shots well. Customer service excellent at all levels. Restaurant open and serving great menu at good prices. Driving range, putting green and all other practice areas are open.

Played this AM on a cold/foggy morning. Was very surprised how fast the fog lifted though. But I was also met with a sign that stated "2022 fee increases". Gee I thought all the courses raved how great a revenue year 2021 was? No doubt this is only the first of many such increases we will see in S CA in 2022. All the tee boxes from several weeks ago have grown in and are now open. And all in nice shape. Fairways had good coverage, lies and roll all round. Traps were all clean and playable (in 2 so I know). Very little rough anywhere on the course. Greens were all easy to putt/chip and had decent speed. Great customer service at all levels of contact. Dining available beginning at 6 AM with a full menu that is not only good but great prices. This venue may not be a high end or expensive course but it is well managed and cared for.

By the looks of them (some not getting much sun) they won't be available possibly by week of Dec 5 (just my guess and opinion). The rest of the course is in very nice shape. But with the tee boxes all moved up, it really does not make the course very enjoyable IMO. They are though charging lower rates during the process.

Out early this AM on a beautiful morning for golf (I hope I see many many more like today). Found today that they started over seeding all tee boxes on Nov 8. So ALL markers were moved WAY up making the course play really short. The fairways, traps, greens were all in great shape. I would expect at least another 2 weeks (after looking at the tees) before the course will be back to its normal length. And no they are not offering any discounts due to the work in progress. But the restaurant serves great food. And check in was great (thanks Justin).

Nice to have DST for early golf. Nice to play early and behind the greens mower. Course is in nice shape at the moment. Tee boxes all clean/level playable. Fairways have good coverage, good lies and good roll. Bunkers were all clean/playable and all have rakes. Very little rough but early AM it is damp and plays more difficult than dry. Greens are in great shape. They hold shots, release shots and chip/putt with good speed (9/10) and following the mower was great. Restaurant opens at 6 and serves full menu (and good food priced right). Customer service at check in was great as usual. May not be overly long but it gives one a good round of golf.

Course is in really nice shape at present. Tee boxes clean/level. Fairways have good coverage, lies and roll out. Bunkers are all playable and rakes available. Greens are running about 8/9 in speed and hold, release shots and chip/putt very well. Excellent customer service at all levels. Restaurant open at 6 AM on Sundays with a full menu.
