Greens have healed nicely and much faster than one would expect (now repair those divots on those nice new aerated greens PLEASE). Rest of the course is in very nice shape as well. Excellent customer service as usual. POP was 3 hours. Big tournament scheduled for Oct 19. Great deals in the shop on Nike equipment. Big Callaway event tonight from 5 PM to 7 PM at the driving range.

Played today. POP 2.5. Greens are healing nicely from aeration. Back 9 is less than a week away in 100% healing and (IMO) the front needs about another 10 days. The rest of the course (tee boxes, fairways, rough, traps) is in very nice shape. Customer service excellent. They are running some nice (check website) aeration specials through Oct 10.

Back out today in a nice POP of 2.5 hours. The aeration planned for last M/T did not come off as planned. They only did the back 9 and are doing the front 9/26. And after playing today, it will be a good 2 weeks (IMO) before you can really play? The back 9 work is done and very nicely I will add (they have also done all the tee boxes) but still lots of sand and healing going on. Customer service excellent at all levels and great food in Birdies. But for golf, it will be a few weeks before things return to normal (therefore I will not rate the course today).

Went out today only to find the back 9 closed for aeration. Though it shows on GK they would be aerating 26/27. Was allowed to play the front twice but decided against it. Way to crowded by the time I came off of # 9. Told the front will be done tomorrow and that the course will run specials from 9/20 to 10/3 @ $22 weekday and $28 weekend and a free replay. As they have a very good maintenance crew, I am fairly certain the greens will come back as nice (or perhaps nicer) than they have been most of the summer.

Played early AM in a POP of 2.5. Course is still in very good shape, even with the recent hot days. Tee boxes fine; fairways good (work being done on # 5 - no carts inside ropes but playable); bunkers fine; greens in very nice shape (even after the recent light verti cut); rough is penal if you find it. Excellent customer service at all levels and great food in Birdies. Superintendent and his staff do an excellent job on this course. New cart path being installed on # 12 and tees are moved up temporarily. And yes those are coyotes (family of 4) out by the 12th green (no feeding please).

Back out today, with some visitors from out of town. POP was a great 3.5 hours. Course is still in great shape (IMO) since my last review. Greens are still in great shape (though putt slow in the early AM with all the overnight dew - but speedy when dried out). The superintendent and his crew do a great job of keeping this course in great shape. Had the opportunity to have something to eat at Birdies at the course and the food/service was very good. You can either order breakfast or from their all day menu (nice touch and great selection). Great place for a round of golf or eats.

Took some out of town visitors here today (both only play very little) and it turned out to be the right play. Course is perfect for the less frequent player and lowers the intimidation factor (at least it did for these two). We also thank the great foursome who allowed us to play through them (shocking my visitors - "really in CA") allowing us to play in 3 hours (thanks). Course is in great shape from tee to green (as stated previously by myself and others). And the customer service is excellent. Yes this is a shorter course, but it is wonderfully maintained (compared to many in S CA) and really enjoyable to play.

Alhambra never disappoints. From the great and friendly customer service in the pro shop, to the marshalls always keeping an eye on things, and the course being kept in great shape from tee to green on every hole - always a treat. And it's not expensive (played blue tees for $36 walking + $5 push cart fee).

It's not a long hitter's course at all, but it's a great place to play a few angles, get the short game dialed in, and post a low score to make you feel like you may as well continue playing this nerve-wracking game.

POP was great for a Saturday at 8:34 am - took us just over 4 hours in the crazy heat before we retired for drinks at the restaurant. But in those four hours we experienced pretty lush fairways, terrific greens, good sand, challenging, yet fair rough, and pretty darn good tee boxes throughout.

I'll always come back to this place every few months - it's worth the drive every time. And oh yeah, thought it was a travesty this special little course only had three pictures on the site, so I went ahead and rectified that with pics for all 18. You'll see a course that is most inviting, especially when you want to get a good confidence building round in after some poor ones. And heck, you still will have to put in some work here, but it will be rewarded.

Give it a try. You'll like it.
