Played Sat 3/24 with LAGG league. We sent out 4 groups at 10am and it took 5 hours to finish with a few minute wait on most tee boxes. Typical of LA muni golf on the weekend and probably better than some other courses in the area. The course was in decent shape with lush fairways and smooth but slow greens. The noise on this course can be a problem with many holes next to busy streets and train tracks. Sirens, cars, trains, people talking you get it all here.

Played Saturday, March 24, mid-morning tee times (four groups). A little more than 5 hours to play this fairly short muni. The course conditions are good for the amount of play this place sees. Greens were soft and definitely on the slow side, but rolled nicely with a lot of break if you were not directly above or below the holes. Fairways and rough were mostly lush; a few fairways had some divots, but mostly good mix on the carts to fill in. There were many areas that were marked with white paint as ground under repair, but they were not really in play unless you missed the greens towards the cart paths. The north side of the course (holes 10 through 12 seemed a little noisy at times with a busy street and rail road traffic. Lots of driveable par fours and an interesting layout that reminds me a little of Rancho Park in West Los Angeles. The back nine is kind of hilly compared to the front nine, but easily to walk. Lots of trees, putting a premium on hitting good shots, especially off the tee.

Went down to Alhambra by myself on impulse today. Got out almost immediately, a little after 2:00 pm for twilight rates and was out paired up with a two-some. Everything about the course is in (muni) good condition right now—from tee boxes to greens. Greens were medium speed—slower than what I am used to—and frequently, surprisingly tough to read. Looks like they might have been punched not too long ago and, while generally recovered, have not come up to, what I suspect, is their normal speed yet. We were each stunned at times to have putts break the opposite of what we thought the read was. Also a fair number of ball marks, some repaired, some not. Generally, nice flat tee boxes with coverage, good fairways, and the bunkers were generally raked and in solid shape. A local high school player joining us on the 10th tee to finish as a foursome. Given that we started around 2:15, Iwas keeping my hopes of finishing 18 in check. I was surprised that we not only got 18 done, but did the round in just about four hours. I'm hard pressed to remember the last time I played 18 anywhere in four hours. There was a foursome ahead of us and a two-some ahead of them and everything moved along a great pace without feeling rushed. I walked and the twilight rate was $18. It isn't long and it won't be confused for a resort, but it's a solid little muni and I really enjoyed the round. Good times.

Played yesterday, tee time at 7AM, started on time. Starter was friendly and said could start early if wanted but we wanted to use putting green for a few minutes. The course was in very good shape. Tee boxes lush, fairways really good, sand traps recently sanded with fluffy sand, loved the bunkers but only hit out of one due to hitting the green in regulation on most holes. Greens were in great shape, some ballmark's from inconsiderate player ahead, I wish Alhambra had marshals to watch the guys hitting the greens and not fixing ballmark's. All in all, loved the round, finished in 3 hr and 40 min.

Played here Memorial Day right after my complimentary birthday round at Monarch Beach Golf Links as a continuation of "the wife said I could play as much as I can" golf fix. My brother had set up a quick 18-hole, twilight round at his local track located in the city of Alhambra just north of the 10-freeway.

After finishing a round at a 5-star course located next to the Pacific Ocean, I was wondering how this track would stack up. To my surprise, it is not too bad. Although not nearly as challenging, this track will keep your short game in tune. We tee'd off at 3:00 PM and it wasn't crowded at all.

Most of the Par 4's are driveable and there is at least one or two Par 5's that are reachable in two. Fairways were in good condition and the greens were medium to fast which, was rather surprising. Tee boxes could use some work. There were a few tee boxes where the ground was so hard, I had trouble getting a tee into the ground.

This track has a fair share of beginners so, errant shots are common. They do have a 3-level driving range, chipping and putting area. They have a snack bar but, no cart attendant.

We finished the round (walking) in just under 4-1/2 hours. The front nine was relatively flat compared to the back. All in all, I had a great time and would definitely play here again during the twilight hours.

greens were perfect. smoooooth.. just the way i like it. i;ve compared the greens here to some of the high end courses. front 9 is flat, easy walk...back 9 is always a tougher walk with all the hills - ouch! overall - a fun course to bring the weeknd to a close.

Great course for a casual round. A short course, at not much over 5000, and a par 70. Most par 4's are right around the 300 mark, meaning you can drive it close or play 2 easy irons to the greens. ... Continue »

Great course for a casual round. A short course, at not much over 5000, and a par 70. Most par 4's are right around the 300 mark, meaning you can drive it close or play 2 easy irons to the greens. Greens and fairways are in great condition and nothing to complain about. Course is easy to walk on the front 9, but you will get a little tired the last few holes.
