Teed off Friday 6/28 as a twosome joined by a single around 11:50. This place is reviewed often enough so I'll be brief. Overall good conditions. The bunkers tend to be firm, sometimes bordering on hard. The rough is good, mostly not too severe but definitely thicker in some places than usual. The greens had a nice level of quickness to them and mostly performed well. The exceptions were a few greens, starting with the sixth, that had some kind of blight on at least a portion, but was mostly avoidable when present. Due to an underlying softness, the greens generally had an uncharacteristic amount of pitch mark scarring and sometimes required repair work on your line. Mostly cosmetic, they were still enjoyable to putt on. Anything not specifically mentioned, (tees, fairways, etc.) were all good. Busy and seeming to start out a little slow, we actually got around in a little over four hours. Atypical minor issues aside, it was quite enjoyable.

Played this AM at sunrise in 2 H. My posts of June 7 and 12 are still valid but in both I spoke about the greens. The greens today are closer to the June 7 review. Whatever they have done in under a week is working. Today they were (not all) firmer and putted much better than on the 12th. Glad to see the much needed improvement. Now if we can get the City of Alhambra to provide some funds for sand (before we become like the old Montebello) that would be great. Again as always great customer service at all levels from all employees.

Played this AM. Most of what I said in my last post of June 2 still applies. The biggest change is the greens. Either someone cut them to short or over watered and the sun dried them out because they are not as nice as after aeration. Not all but some are dry and patchy and # 14 has a lot of brown spots. And they are very very slow. Greens in this condition also do not absorb divots very well and there are many that have a lot of divot damage and left unrepaired. So now you "know before you go" what to expect. And the traps need help.

Played this AM. Nice fast round of 3 H with a sunrise tee time (love this time of the year). Course is in good condition. Tee boxes all playable. Fairways have good coverage, lies and decent roll out.... Continue »

Fairways have good coverage, lies and decent roll out. Rough is minimal and playable. Traps have been worked on and are much better, but would still like to see more sand. Greens are good to go when chipping, putting and holding shots. Great customers service at all levels. Great value in todays economy.

Played this morning. Course is in good shape other than the bunkers. Between the non raking and hard sand it is becoming a real problem. Begining to feel like what Montebello use to be like and thats not good. Tee boxes are all playable. Fairways have good coverage so lies are good and there is decent roll out as well. Some rough on the outside of the fairways and some is playable and there areas that are a little deeper. Greens have come back very nicely and hold shots release shots and putt very well. Excellent customer service in shop and with all others. POP was decent but a marshal would help IMO.

Played today. Not much to add to my previous post as well as T8Fish. But the greens have healed nicely and will hold shots, release shots and putt with good speed. And as always great customer service in the shop and from other employees as well. Still the best value golf in the valley. Troon manages Alhambra and is now in charge of Bella Vista/Montebello and they are taking over Brookside in June. They are making a run-on American golf and I think that is a good thing.

I played 5/3 with a 2:30 start, the day after 24hourgolf so I'm just going to add a couple of comments to his review. Pretty much in agreement with his take, the only exception being the greens. A day can make a difference and since he played AM and I played PM, I think the better part of two days did. I didn't find the greens soft. And while they can get quicker here, they were running at what I consider a nice reasonably quick pace. I assume the pace will be increasing with time. Bottom line, the course is in nice shape right now. A side note on service: it's consistently good here — pleasant and well organized. When I was paying up with Julius, I asked for a hand cart and he threw it in at no cost. Seems like a small thing but I appreciated the unexpected gesture and felt appreciated as a customer.

Played this AM. Nice 3 H POP. Greens are healed from aerating and have had their first cut yesterday. Still soft and slow but other than that they look great and no doubt will get better the next days and weeks. Tee boxes clean/level. Traps have had some work but alas lazy players don't rake after they play. Fairways lush and provide good lies and decent rollout. Great customer service as always.

Played today. Greens are not bad for being done last week, other than being slow they putted fine. By next week they should be back to normal. Traps need work and it appears no one wants to rake them either. Fairways need mowing as they are a little long at the moment. Tee boxes all fine. Rough is not a factor. Always excellent customer service from Jasmine and her team. By far the most reasonable course in price in S CA at the moment IMO. POP at 3 hours.
