Played today. Only reason I even played this course was to get it off my list of unplayed courses & because they have a pretty good deal of $65 with free replays on Tuesdays. I got 45 holes in by myself starting at 9AM before the rain got to be too much.

Customer service here was outstanding. The starter lady was quite helpful and nice. She gave me some good tips & sent me out on two of my three rounds ahead of some larger groups by starting me on 11 or 12 instead of 10 (back 9 start the whole day). People in the pro shop were very nice as well.

Some minor annoyances: the green divot fill stuff they use on the greens. As if the poa annua wasn't polka dotty enough, now they have contrasting turquoise green sand stuff filling all the little divots (fortunately there weren't too many). Second, the carts with the weird announcements at just the wrong times & constant speed limit checks. Felt like big brother was watching me every time I got close to the wood chips: "DON'T DRIVE ON THE WOOD CHIPS!" would pop up.

Anyway, the course could be better. I pass by this place often on the freeway & it never looks great for what an amazing layout it is. The fairways and rough just look sad. They are on the cusp of turning yellow it seems, but are getting just enough water. All day long I kept getting penalized for hitting good shots because the fairways were hard and would run forever, and so were the greens. They were running a 12 on the stimp according to the pro shop folks, & they wanted them to run at 13 by the weekend! Are they crazy! I'm sorry, but as a high handicapper, I already play the white tees. I have long irons & woods into greens for most of my second shots. When the greens can't even hold a shot that lands 10 yards in front, the pin is in the back AND elevated, that's just getting ridiculous! Not to mention the brutal pin placements like on 18, front right. Maybe a 1 foot circle you can hit it in with a wedge and get close, that's it. Hit a perfect shot in there and rolled 40 feet away, almost off the green. Story of my day.

Greens of course ran fast, but I just had to deal with them. Not sure whether I blame the speed for taking the break out of all the putts since nothing broke all day or not. Splotchy poa annua rolled quite well, no bumps at all since divots are filled quickly.

Fairways were hardpan. Easy to bounce the club. No room for error. Had quite a few shots that rolled right into the ESAs, especially my first round ever there. Once I got the first round under my belt I finally got adjusted to the target golf course that was never designed for target golf.

Tees were the best part. Really lush, level & soft, perfect every single hole all day. Marshal frequently came by not just to check on me or speed up the pace of play, but also filled divots constantly.

Bunkers were not the best. Very inconsistent from one to another. Almost all had lots of rocks in them. Some had a thin but decent layer of sand & were ok to hit out of, others were the soft play sand, and still others were VERY grainy & rocky with no base.

Rough was nonexistent. Some clumps of grass here or there, but generally not much taller than the fairways. At least it covered everywhere.

In general, I like the layout, just wish it would be more playable. People in the pro shop asked me how it was out there, and just laughed & said "good" when I told them how brutal the course was. Like they want you to fail or something.

Could not get the online tee time to verify time. Called and staff said no problem come on in. Once at course, staff would not honor online price, manager refused to come out from his office. So our option was pay and play or go someplace else.
We should have played someplace else.
I like the layout and understand SoCal drought, but when a course has to paint their fairways green because it is dirt.....
The fairways are hard hardpan, you had to pick everything clean or bounce your club. The greens wouldn't even hold a 60 deg wedge at 70 yds.
I will not go back until they have actual grass on the course, at any price.

Hey there my fellow golfers. I played this course yesterday, Jan 12th, on a golf now deal. That's the only way I would play it. I hadn't played here since the clubhouse was a trailer. Now I see why the green fees went up. They gotta pay for the big clubhouse, the rubber they laid down for the carts to park on next to the tee boxes and the carts that won't let you speed. The course still has its challenge. The tee boxes were pretty good, the fairways not so good. The grass in the fairway was dormant so the lies were tight but you could still take a divot. The greens were rolling good. Don't be above the hole on some of them because the ball won't stop. I'd come back for another "deal" but the the regular rate. Enjoy

First time at Angeles, been hearing great things about it. So overall it was a great golf experience, friendly staff, good conditions, and great pace of play.
Its a links style course with several hazards well placed to challenge you. The rough isn't very punishing, but the incessant wood chips are. The greens are deceptively fast at times and rather undulating on certain holes.
However, this place is not worth $125. I would say this place is a comfortable $75 course AT MOST. But, being able to finish in 4 hours on a holiday is worth something extra right?!!

Played here for the first time and was impressed. Staff were friendly from the bag drop to the pro shop to the starter and cart girl. They give you waters on the cart, great GPS's which gives you distance to the pin and also measures your distance. Also included is a ball and club cleaner. We started our round on the back 9. Nice pace of play. Course is in pretty nice condition for winter conditions. Bunkers were nice and sandy, some tee boxes were lush and fairways were rolling. Greens were nice with no divots. Saw the cart girl a few times, food at the snack shop is yummy!!

Finally got to play at Angeles National. Everyone I talked to (previous and golfers at the course) say it is overpriced. Got a good weekday rate at $50 on golf now so figured we'd give it a shot. I went in with low expectations as it doesn't always have the best reviews. I was surprisingly impressed. Service was excellent from cart drop through, especially the starter ... Stephanie?? Finished in just over four hours and had enjoyable golfers with us in our foursome.
Greens were excellent and fast, 11 1/2 or so, soft and undulated with many subtle breaks. Barely a divot and yesterday's had all been repaired by the staff.
Fairways good, thin, but playable.
Rough varied between thin and clumpy grasses typical of LA area courses.
Sand was fantastic, full and soft and perfectly raked to start the day. Saw an occasional giant 1-2" rock in the traps, but seemed like about two per trap. Those need to go.
Tees were good on the back 9 but front tees were still being grown in from overseeing. Looked a bit like that 70's shag rug mom had when I was a kid. Either case, didn't really effect anything.
Food and cart service excellent.
Course is challenging, fairways a touch tight at times, but all well playable and holes/shots visible for the most part.
I very much enjoyed our morning here and look forward to going back again.

Played this morning in a time of 4 hours. Course was absolutely empty. We went off behind two member groups (never saw them after hole # 3) and let another group of 3 pass by at 9 (so we could have our hot dog/soda included in greens fee) and never saw anyone until we finished. As usual check in at bag check and pro shop was fantastic. Tee boxes level and clean; fairways in great shape providing roll and good lies; sand traps all raked and in excellent shape (I can vouch for that); rough was deep/tough if you were in it and the greens were outstanding. Love the fact they take the time to patch (with green fill) all the divot damage (which was not much). But these greens are just great to putt on. Quite possibly the best I have putted all year. To me this is a fantastic course (yes a little out of the way) in a great setting, that should be played. We had time today to eat at the restaurant and the food is excellent and not expensive. Well worth the drive and time spent playing here.

Have not played here since 2006. I forgot how nice this course was. I remember it being tough, and I guess 8 years passing and having that much less distance, made it all that much more difficult. (Funny how all the courses are getting longer and more difficult)

Overall I thought the course was in really nice condition. No complaints, except I seemed to have maintenance working on almost every hole. (The price you pay when you tee off first) The staff was fantastic. If it were not for the distance from home coupled with the cost, I would play here more often
