Course is in the worst condition tee to green that I have seen. Especially for a course that's upwards of $50 rack rate. Tee boxes were lumpy and grass was way too long. Fairways decent at best. Sand in the bunkers is nice and fluffy...but nobody ever rakes the sand here. Greens medium speed and overall okay. Pace of play is an absolute joke. Got out around 12:30 for 30$ through golfnow. Course was packed and not one Marshall to be seen. We finished 13 holes in 4 hours and 15 minutes!!!
Won't be back for a while.

Looks like they are still recovering from aeration. Greens roll smooth but some greens have the look of fungus; more than a few bad spots on 4/5 greens. Fairways in good shape. Rough is still thick and tee boxes flat. Pace of play was quick for a Friday; finished in under 4 hours, 11 minutes. Looks like they are sanding fairways and fertilizing.

Great course but current conditions are typical during this transition period. Would I play here again? Of course but will wait a few weeks until conditions improve. Given current weather that may be sooner rather than later.

Gave El-Do one last chance before turning the clocks back (the end of twilight golf in SoCal), so I got on with no problem on Sat. afternoon ... non-res $27 to walk. Projected POP around 5 hours (I walked off after 16). Greens were still in rough shape, bumpy and slow, with some signs of improvement in the past week. Fairways somewhat thin with plenty of bare spots ... had to pick a few clean or risk bouncing a club ... but still playable. I wasn't in any bunkers but they still looked uncared for. In short, I won't be coming back until I hear/read something positive about this course. Not recommended.

played here many times. disappointed at lack of honesty from pro shop on status of greens. When we booked our tee time on Monday, We were told greens were good, recovered from aeratiom earlier this month. I should have been alerted by small crowd on range as I warmed up. Guy who checked me in sais it was slow all week so far, but wanted to play himself cuz conditions were good. Also fooled by practice green that was smooth, very quick. When we got to the first green, it was filled with sand. What a surprise. 2nd and 3rd greens were the same. Sandy with some holes from punching at unknown earlier date. Then, we noticed that some greens were more recovered from sanding than others. the back 9 was slightly better. On 16, I could see a line down the middle of the green: the left half was pretty good where the pin was located, but the right half was still showing sand. The fairways were also looking beat up. Lots of big divots that hadn't been filled in. The aeration alert on greenskeeper.org can't be right with the conditions I saw today.

I just had to get to El Do to see what happened since the last two reviews were downright awful ... I found out why. Many greens developed a fungus and have since been treated and are on the mend, but do not look very appealing. Might be another couple of weeks before they are back in good shape. Fairways are mostly Kikuyu and begin their dormancy about this time of year so there are some bare areas in the fairways. Greenside bunkers are supersoft sand and just very difficult to rake evenly, so your chance of getting a level lie is 50/50. Altogether, it's playing like a muni course right now needing some TLC, sorry to report.

BEWARE: This course is in the worst condition that I have ever seen. Many greens have bare spots and the 17th green is the worst of the worst. Fairways are filled with dirt areas which is weird because they soak the golf course constantly. Not worth the high fees the City of Long Beach is charging. Time to start playing other courses and stop playing courses in long beach.

Played El Dorado Saturday (10/6) and Monday (10/8). This golf course is in terrible condition. All the fairways should be considered ground under repair. The course was soaking wet, "The Swamps at El Dorado". The greens have many bare spots and are very bumpy. The tee boxes are like teeing it up from the rough. The bunkers are smooth raked, which I have never seen before, but when you get in them you sink down 1"-2" or there is little sand at the bottom and it has all been pulled to the sides. I hope they can turn it around, but for now I would avoid this course.

Walked on as a single, twilight, on Friday. Guys in pro shop were great, got me out in the first 2PM group for a great walking rate, $20. Greens are still in great shape, even playing in the afternoon, really unexpected but WOW, nice surprise ... a few unrepaired ball marks was the only negative. Fairways, rough both in good shape, too. Some unraked bunkers ("I am not a gardner" ... inside joke) but all in all, I thought the course was in the best shape I've played it in years. Best of all: POP was 4.5 hours ... don't know why but it was a much faster round then expected.

Played Sept-03, Labor Day. Greens were perfect condition and fast. When I played here green's condition were good but few holes can be little bumpy but not today. Fairways were in good condition, too. Enjoyed the early morning rounds. Golf Shop crews were very professional. Will be back soon.
