Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played El Dorado Saturday (10/6) and Monday (10/8). This golf course is in terrible condition. All the fairways should be considered ground under repair. The course was soaking wet, "The Swamps at El Dorado". The greens have many bare spots and are very bumpy. The tee boxes are like teeing it up from the rough. The bunkers are smooth raked, which I have never seen before, but when you get in them you sink down 1"-2" or there is little sand at the bottom and it has all been pulled to the sides. I hope they can turn it around, but for now I would avoid this course.

They have aerated the greens. It was done 2 weeks ago. Played here 4/10/2011. 7:15 and got usual 15 min delay. Course was still in good shape even though the greens were punched a week earlier. They have let the ruff grow and it finally gave this course some character and made more challenging. No more grip and rip, you have to hit the ball in fairway. They are in the process of installing lights on holes 1-3, so there is some construction areas, but nothing in the playing area. Rec should be in great shape in 2 more weeks.
As of 4/9/2011 they had not punched the greens yet! Course was in good shape. They now have 1st and 2nd cuts of ruff, really makes the golf course look more appealing and a little more challenging. The greens were sprouting so putts were not rolling as true as they usually do. With no mistakes this course should be in great shape after aeration is complete and very challenging to play. Enjoy!
Played this course on 5/6. I was amazed at how bad of shape it was in. It started with a 8am shotgun start. 1st tee was on the other side of the golf course(11th) and was not offered a shuttle ride from the staff, so I walked. Then they were starting with two groups on each tee. Very slow play. The group ahead of us was two holes behind for 10 holes until the marshall talked to them for the third time. Arrived at the at the 9th hole and there were three groups on the tee box and one on the green, that is atrocious and should never happen. The greens were in terrible shape. Extremely bumpy and slow, but they were not consistent at all. Played three holes and each green was different. The fairways, I didn't know where the fairway ended and the rough began. The pace of play, terrible greens and bad fairways amazed me because this golf course was not like this a year ago. I doubt I will be returning anytime soon, not until I know they have addressed these issues.
Great golf course. Challenging golf course, especially playing it for the first time. Hoping the next round will be better now that I have some course knowledge. The greens were a great speed and rolled very true. Fairway views from the tees can be deceiving, but knowing where to be in the fairway helps a lot. The fairways have large landing areas but stray shots will be penalized in the rough or the environmental areas. The rough was soaking wet, thick and narly due the limited sunshine and the continuos watering during our round. The $110 price tag is a litlle high for the course but I will definitely play again. Tee'd off at 7 am and finished in 3 1/2 hours and I was walking. This is not a walker friendly course but it can be done. Sand in the bunkers was wet which made it difficult but there are some bunkers that are a little thin underneath. Again, great course and would recommend it to anyone.
The Pro Shop staff was not overly friendly, the starter was a bit better but no helpful advise for the course or the fact that it was cart path only for my playing partners.

This is a course that really needs to work on their greens. The greens were punched at the end of March but they have not rolled them and they are very bumby. The 5 hrs for the round was ridiculous. Teeing off 25 minutes after our tee time of 7:37 am. GM didn't have a care in the world and made no effort to get tee times back on track. Wonderful golf course to play and very challenging, but the greens are something that need to be addressed, especially being one of two golf courses used for the Long Beach Open. The price is fair and makes golf very affordable for all golfers. Enjoy the layout, just don't let the greens get to you.
