Really did enjoy this course after not playing it for about 10 years. Only one complaint was that we played afternoon and the greens had feet impressions all over on the back 9 holes. This made putting just about impossible to keep the line. I feel it cost me 3 strokes. I have never seen this before on a course but I guess it was due to the spongy greens. I will take it over the dry, wind damaged greens of the high desert anyday. I will go back soon and play again.

Friday, July 24, 2009. Lush conditions tee to green. A couple of overly wet areas, but not bad by any means. Greens continue to be spongy, soft, and on the slow side. A little bumpy at times as well. You must be firm with your putts here. Last two times here, it has been a virtual ghost town in the late morning. Could be the heat-days are running into the high 90's to low 100's.

Played on Monday 7/22. Great thing about this course is that you can basically walk up and get on the course w/o a reservation within 15 minutes after 9 am if playing as a single. Hot day! By the 3rd ... Continue »

Played on Monday 7/22. Great thing about this course is that you can basically walk up and get on the course w/o a reservation within 15 minutes after 9 am if playing as a single. Hot day! By the 3rd hole I was drenched. That aside, the course is in pretty good shape for mid-July, the fairways were green with very few brown areas and the greens were in good shape despite them running a little slower than I remember. Two things bothered me the most. First, the tee boxes were not tightly mowed and second, there was standing water in the most unusual areas and not just a puddle here or there, but to the point where certain areas on the front-9 were casual water/mud take a drop areas. Seemed very out of character. Overall though, a 4 1/2-hour round on a very warm day made it seem not so hot. Of all the LA munis out there this one seems to be in the best shape at this time.

Played 7/7 at 8:00 am. The course is in great shape. Areas were severely over watered...including some greens. Twice I had approach shots come straight down and the ball got buried 1/2 - 3/4 of the way into the green. The rough is fair while some of the bermuda grass around the green is tough to deal with. Get out there now before the summer bakes this course.

This is my first time playing this course in almost a year, and I can say I am impressed in the overall quality of the course. The tee boxes and fairway are in better than average shape. The sand traps are still pretty much hard pack but decient. The greens were very inconsistent though. LOTS of bumps on about 40% and half the greens are really slow. We started our round at 12 pm and were done by 3:50. Worth the green fee.

Hansen Dam has improved. played 5-18-2009 at 4:00 PM. Had a great day, greens are very soft and slow and a little bumpy but OK. Fairways were nice 80% of the holes and green collars were cut perfect. New cart paths everywhere which was nice. Everything was great and user friendly. Snack shop had great food and service. We were able to finish with a beer until 8:00 PM when they closed. Angeles would have already been shut down at 6:00 Pm.

Overall, for the price it was a great experience and we will go back.

i played on monday, may 11, 2009. the course is in good condition, however, the greens are very bumpy and cut uneven. also, the greenskeeper needs a lesson on how to cut the holes. the course needs either a new hole cutter or lessons. the hole was not cleanly cut, very rough around the cup opening. i think municipal course should take more care on the greens, after all that is where the scoring is. i know the course gets a lot of play, but no excuse for sloppy greens keeping.
