Played here on Friday, July 9, 2010 with danoemi, farewaybob, and Kevin (another guy they knew who we picked up on 9 tee). Starter was friendly enough, even though he got me for the $39 walking rate for non-resident. Not too crowded and pace of play was decent. The course itself is in good condition. Small hole aerification done some time ago has healed up for the most part; noticeable only on 16 green, but did not affect putts. The sand is in great condition; at least in the four bunkers I visited. Of course, I had to pull my drive on 16 left and find the only water on the course (it really should not come into play). All the grass on the course is in fine condition with plenty of good irrigation coverage. Some construction activity: on 11 tee a small crew was forming a concrete planter, and the course is in the process of flipping the nines (one will be ten, and vice-versa). It also appears the old #18 green (currently #11) will become #9 as a par three. Not sure which par 3 they will take out, possibly #15. That means the new #2 green (the old #11) will possibly be a driveable par 4 unless they move the green farther out. It should be and interesting change. I am almost getting excited.

Played on a Thursday morning. Seemed kind of busy for a weekday. Fairways and greens were in their usual shape—pretty decent for a muni. The teeboxes, however, were a different story. Seven teeboxes were under repair and did not allow for the blue tee position to be accessed. Most notably, on #4, the longish par 3, they were actually laying down new sod, so it might be a while before that tee box is ready. If actually being able to play from the blue tees is important to you, you might want to give them a call before you go out to see what the status is. The teeboxes were, in general, in pretty bad shape. Shaggy and in need of maintenance.

For the short par 4 #11, the green on the left was in play on that day making it shorter but directly behind the tree. I miraculously put my drive just a few feet behind the green (3-putted unfortunately.) Long hitters might be able to reach with a 3-metal. Greens were at medium speed—a couple on the faster side. Several greens on the back 9 were in very good condition (hardly a mark) but still playing at medium speed. The hot dog at the turn left a lot to be desired.

Played today 3/21. Kudos to the greenskeepers. Absolutely the best I've ever seen these greens! Just beatiful! Very few unrepaired ballmarks. Fairways in decent shape too. Rough was uneven, but I guess normal for this time of year. Now, if they could only do something with the bunkers - little sand, hard as rock below for the most part. Pace of play was typical - 5+ hours. Get out and play this track. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

this is a decent;y cared for l.a. muni. the greens were rolling well. the fairways were for the most part alright with patches of bare spots and lumps among the other areas of plush kikuya.
tee boxes and traps were ok. pace of play was awesome. we were done in 4 hours

all in all i'd give it a 6.

Greens are smoother than usual, some slight bumpiness but not enough to take the ball off course. Greens were receptive despite firmer than normal conditions . Typical conditions everywhere else on the course. First ones off as twosome, finished in under 3 hours walking.

Walked up and got right out and played in 4 hrs. A great day and great playing partners, we had a ball! Course is in good shape.

Conditions at Hansen Dam are improving. Played on Sunday, 1/24/10. Greens not quite as bumpy as previoius weeks. Still rolling medium fast. Fairways and rough in good shape with mostly good lies. Sand was hard packed due to a week of rain. Pace of play, cart path only conditions, was about 5 hours and 15 minutes.

Played on Friday, January 8, 2009. Big problem with all the greens, unless you like 'em bumpy. Add to that, they are rolling fairly fast. Putt slow enough and the ball rolls off line before it gets to the hole. Looks like they never recovered from aerification last fall. They recently sanded to take out some of the bumpyness, but it aint working. You can see the aerification holes are darker green and causing a lot of the bumpiness. Other than that, the rest of the course is nice. Good fairways and rough throughout. Typical 5 hour plus round.

Played yesterday afternoon and the greens were HORRIBLE! All the green surfaces where like golf balls...dimples everywhere! From talking to the people there, these greens were not even recently aerated like i assumed but no maintenance done for weeks. Unforgivable to charge full price for that condition. It's sad because I enjoyed the course layout and the conditions of the fairways and bunkers were above decent. Pace of play was awful too, took us the full 5 hours to finish the round on a Thursday!!?? No marshalls in sight. Don't think I will play here again.
