Played on Friday, January 8, 2009. Big problem with all the greens, unless you like 'em bumpy. Add to that, they are rolling fairly fast. Putt slow enough and the ball rolls off line before it gets to the hole. Looks like they never recovered from aerification last fall. They recently sanded to take out some of the bumpyness, but it aint working. You can see the aerification holes are darker green and causing a lot of the bumpiness. Other than that, the rest of the course is nice. Good fairways and rough throughout. Typical 5 hour plus round.

Played yesterday afternoon and the greens were HORRIBLE! All the green surfaces where like golf balls...dimples everywhere! From talking to the people there, these greens were not even recently aerated like i assumed but no maintenance done for weeks. Unforgivable to charge full price for that condition. It's sad because I enjoyed the course layout and the conditions of the fairways and bunkers were above decent. Pace of play was awful too, took us the full 5 hours to finish the round on a Thursday!!?? No marshalls in sight. Don't think I will play here again.

The course in typical winter shape although it looked like the greens had been punched a couple of weeks prior with no notification, oh well, they were faster than I ever remember these greens being. Too bad, didn't think the rain was coming in until this evening. My bad,
still, good times with friends.

Tee off at about 6:18 am and finished at about 10:30. Little chilly in the front nine and really warm on the back. Greens looked a little bumpy but fast when putting. Greens should be perfect in another week or two. Didn't have to wait for players in front of us. Played with Richard, Roy, and Steven. Enjoyed the group and had a good round and day. Awesome golf experience. Hansen Dam is the best Los Angeles City owned Course. Long course, great fairways, soft, bumpy wet , spongy greens, tee boxes fair to good. Customer service in bar and restaurant is excellent and much better than Angeles
National. Overall for the price and bumpy soft greens, the experience is great and the par 4's and 5's are LONG. Lots of holes to let the driver go long and uphill and downhill approaches to challenge your game. We left Angeles National for this course and we couldn't be happier. I am very critical of customer service and this course passes my test. Have a great day and its freeway close.

Played Hansen Dam on Saturday afternoon. It was your typical five hour plus round at a LA Muni. The only reason to write this review is to talk about the greens. They were aerated 3-4 weeks ago and are definitely not back. I've never seen a ball hop so much when hit with a firm stroke. My foursome probably missed 4-5 birdie putts between us by leaving putts an inch short due to the ball hopping so many times on the way to the hole. The rest of the course was in pretty good shape. Fairways were particularly good. Didn't find the sand. Shot 80 (I'm an 11) that could have been 1-2 shots better with true greens. Will give it a couple months before playing it again.

Greens have nearly recovered from aerification. Just a little bumpy and medium slow. Fairways and rough in great shape (if you like kikuyu grass). The grounds keeper there said she was planning on verticutting soon. That should not pose any problems for golfers. I like playing here and will continue to do so.

Played Hansen Dam on Sat. 10/10/09. Course was in average condition. Greens were aerated and sanded - we were aware of this when we made the reservations. I have always liked Hansen Dam. Each hole is different and there are many changes in elevation. It is a fairly challenging course for the high handicapper like me. I am sure I will return to play Hansen Dam many times.

Played here on Friday, September, 18, 2009. This course is as green as I have ever seen it. Must be the endless supply of reclaimed water. In fact, the course was on the verge of being too wet. It was about 100 degrees and the wet grass made the air heavy and humid. Greens were nice with a medium slow pace and very soft. A couple of high approaches imbedded deep. Sand played nicely. It was soft and easy to hit from, even though it appeared wet and compact. One thing I noticed the last few times here is that there aren't that many people playing. Fine with me; the pace was great at just over 4 hrs.
