Went to the course solo this morning and got out a little after 9:00 AM paired with a pleasant couple. I had gotten there just late enough to miss my 8:48 reservation but they got me out pretty shortly thereafter. Overall conditions were pretty good. The black and blue monuments were combined, which I played and generally had no issues in the tees boxes with finding levels lies and enough grass of appropriate length. The fairways were in overall good shape, usually offering good lies. There were only occasional browned spots on the fairways, but not only were they generally few and far between, they weren't particularly thin and still gave one's ball some cushion. One exception that comes to mind was the 18th fairway, which was lumpier and less clean overall than most of the other fairways. Rough was generally green, playable, and sometimes punitive. I was in a few bunkers and they were clean, firm-ish but not hard, and quite playable — my efforts no withstanding. The greens were in good shape and medium quick. There was some underlying moisture in the course so pitch marks on the greens were more pronounced, but the surface quality was generally fairly clean and true. A nice, warm day without being overly hot, and vey little wind to factor in for most of the round. I didn't note the exact times, but I think the round came in a little under five hours. While there was some occasional waiting and the pace was not exactly brisk, it generally moved along steadily enough that it really didn't feel that long. As munis go, I'd say it's in better shape overall than most and recommend it. I like the layout, had no real complaints and really enjoyed my round.

Played 9-5-18 mid morning on a Teeoff deal for $26 including cart, joining a twosome and finishing in a little under 4 hours. Tee boxes were in okay shape, a little long but mostly level and in need of being thatched. Fairways had a mix of lush green Kikuyu, thin and dry Kikuyu and some small bare spots. Rough was mostly in descent shape ranging from 2-3 inches in most areas but there were some longer spots up to 10-12 inches. Was not in any bunkers but playing partners said they were firm and thin. Greens were in bad shape with some bare spots, mostly around edges, and some small patches of Kikuyu in almost ever green. Under current conditions I would probably play somewhere else.

Greens were in really nice shape. They looked fantastic and putted very nicely. Definitely picked up speed as the sun came out. Back-9 greens were a little harder and bumpier, but not enough to cause any real problems.

Fairways were some of the nicest and lushest I have seen on a city run course in a long time. They were a real joy to play from. Good roll-out, fantastic lies, visible demarcation between fairway and rough. A very pleasant surprise!

Rough was actual rough. Lush, thick, and penal around the fairways. A little cut down around the greens, but still penalized you for missing in a bad spot.

I was in 3 green side traps and all had different consistencies of sand. Not the best.

Tees were lush and for the most part level. Not too much divot damage that early in the morning.

Good POP at 4:15 on a very nice day. Even let two -2somes through who were playing at a rapid pace just so we didn't feel pressed.

Not a bad price to walk and pretty easy to get on as a single. Get out to Hansen soon before the summer burns out this course!

Hansen is in excellent shape right now. The fairways have great coverage and are easy to hit from, the rough is mostly thick, healthy, and in some places quite penal. Wasn't in any bunkers but they looked pretty good. The greens, which were the weak point of the course late last year due to fungus or disease or something, have come back strong. They were perhaps a tad slow, but overall in very good condition. They held shots, and putts held their lines well, especially considering we played at the end of the day. Pace was great; we finished in just over four hours on a perfect Saturday afternoon. For $24 twilight on the weekends, this is a great course right now.

Played yesterday, June 3 with a tee time around 9:30 am. POP was around 5 hours on a rather hot day. It's been awhile since I was last here.

Glad they switched front and back 9's. The 10th tee is now what used to be the 1st tee. Didn't like starting to hit up the hill to the uphill green. Course is in great shape since it's been awhile since the rainy season. Fairways have fairly good coverage from tee to green. Tho' there were dirt patches here and there and yellow spots in the fairways with very thin grass. Tees have fairly good coverage. The rough here can be fairly brutal. If you don't spot where your ball lands in the rough, you may not be able to find your balls. Rough over here was a least few inches thick. Key to low score, keep your shots on the fairways. Greens were in good shape. Balls were rolling about medium speed.

The bunkers had decent sand. Some bunkers had gopher holes in them to watch out for. I did see gopher holes in the rough on a lot of holes today. Noticed that holes near the dam where the trees/palm trees and vegetation were a little singed from the fire last year.

Price is reasonable to play here. Just over $50 with cart on the weekend. Course is not flat and water comes into play on one hole. There's a restaurant/bar here. There's also a driving range where you hit down and up the hill next to the 10th hole.

Had a tee time for a twosome on Monday 3/5 at 8am. Got out early at 7:45. We had the course to ourselves. Finished walking in 3 hours and change. Perfect weather. Let me start off by saying the course is in typical winter condition for a muni. It is very playable and for $19 walking senior rate, it's well worth it. The tee boxes were unlevel in several instances and had no grass or enough grass, depending on the tee box. We played the blues. Fairways are thin and hit and miss. But for the most part, if you're in the fairway you'll have a good to decent lie. The rough is short and not penal. I was in three bunkers today. All of them had good sand. The putting greens were a bit of a disappointment. They were medium speed and many of them were bumpy. It didn't affect too many putts, but it was noticeable how often our balls would bounce on the greens after striking them. Enjoyed our time on the course.

Played 1-2-18 early morning walking as a single for $29 and getting around the course in about 2 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were mostly level if a little bit thin but still very playable. Fairways were mostly on the thin side and going dormant with some minor bare areas and some other areas that have been over watered so you could end up with mud on your ball next to a very dry thin area of grass. Rough is not much more than an inch longer than the fairways with some bare spots. Was not in any bunkers so I don't know how they were playing. Greens were rolling medium speed and soft with some small spots on most of them that looks like the grass needs to feel in which made some of the putts very bumpy. Fun wide open layout that's just in descent enough shape to play.

Got a 9:28 tee-off on Sunday, 12.31, paired with a twosome on a calm, mild morning. Getting right to it, the tee boxes were generally nice — level, with good coverage. The consistent exception is the 10th hole, which is like teeing off the deck of a sinking ship. The winter-normal display of multi-colored grasses on the fairways offered a pretty good hitting surface throughout the day. Really thin patches were relatively rare, and I remember two instances of muddy patches or stretches in the course of the round. The rough grass proximate to the fairways was not very penal and frequently offered a good lie. I didn't hit a bunker all day so, while they looked OK, I have no feedback there. The greens, like the fairways, had a wintery look but putted pretty well, firm and speedy. I recall one green on which I was putting through some bumpy, exposed dirt patches, but that was definitely an exception to the general rule. The course was not overly busy. The threesome ahead of us started with a short lead and, with the exception of a little catch-up and brief delay on holes 11 and 12, kept out of range and well ahead. No one was ever close behind us and we finished in about 3.75 hrs. on a Sunday morning — a nicely comfortable but efficient pace. I did have to keep my walking pace up since the other two shared a cart and moved at a good clip. For this time of year, I felt the course was in pretty good shape. Most miscues were pilot error and not the result of course issues. I would have no reservations about going back, with the hope that I putt much better than I did on the day. Happy New Year!

Played a post-Thanksgiving Friday round at Hansen Dam with Kassper7 and another buddy this week. Found the course to be in overall favorable condition with a few issues here or there but overall handling the busy holiday season quite well.

Played the blue tees which is plenty of length to work with, but surprised to see they actually had a full set of the black tees which I hadn't noticed before. We had an 11:12 tee time and while it was busy, still got off in time and finished with a decent POP at just under five hours. Did a little bit of waiting here and there but nothing too terrible except maybe at the par 3 holes.

Fairways were generally in good shape with the occasional thin or burned out lie. For the most part you'll find yourself in the fairways with good surfaces to hit from. The rough is another story as there was no shortage of either thick, unruly grass, or very thin and difficult to get a good shot off from. Tee boxes were okay throughout the course, while the sand traps were serviceable but far from great. They had mostly thin layers of sand that seemed a bit hard-packed, and there were a few too many rocks for my liking in the bunkers on the uphill par 3 4th hole.

Greens were actually in nice shape, rolling true and holding shots well. Not really fast but definitely need to pay attention to speed. I would say probably between a 9 and 10 on the Stimp. Don't remember fixing too many ball marks so that was good, but there were a few greens that had some variations in coloring and grass that seemed out of place.

No cart service and on a hot, busy Friday, was surprised to see the small snack window at the turn closed - what's up with that? Seems like an odd day to not staff that area. But overall it was another good experience at HD that almost always delivers a good, serviceable round of golf to get your fix.
