Played here on Sat. 1/16. Our fivesome teed off at 8:20 and finished at 12:50, 4:30 mins, which was great POP. The fairways were winter dormant of course but there were also a lot of hardpan and patchy grass areas. Normally Rio Hondo is in very good condition but on this day the course was in need on some TLC. I hope it's just a winter thing. I play here often and always enjoy the course. Tee boxes were fine, bunkers were in good shape and the greens were in very good shape. I really like playing here so I hope they improve the conditions in the coming weeks and months.

Played here today in the wind and cold. The course is in decent shape especially the greens. The only "not so good" was the pace and the conditions of the fairways. There were lots of patchy areas and unrepaired divots. We teed off at 7:05 and literally had to wait on every shot. We finished at about 12:20 which is way to long for Rio. Maybe the wind slowed everyone down since we usually only have 4 hour rounds here.

Played here on Saturday with bluekr3w. 9:48 Cool and clear skies. Went out as a twosome.
Tees were nice and level with fair marker placement.

Played here on Saturday with bluekr3w. 9:48 Cool and clear skies. Went out as a twosome.
Tees were nice and level with fair marker placement.
Fairways were a little browned in spots but still playable.
Approach areas seemed a little shaggy and dry. They threw me off on wedge distances.
Rough was medium length. I was there often, but not to tuff to get out of.
Bunkers were nice and fluffy. Good sand. Loved them.
Greens were fast and smooth with sharp cut holes. Couple of pins were in spots I had never seen before.
POP was slow. Saturday and we were 2, so we waited on a lot of shots. Just under 5.5

This is a tight but fun track. Par 71. Seems like a small step above most muni's in the area conditions wise.
Would love to play again someday.

Played yesterday, course in good shape, great staff in golf shop, they used to have great chilli at snack bar !! now only on weekends ?? whats with that ??? did not see marshall on course, a 3 some in fornt of us and a 4 some in front of them and boths groups had hole open in front of them, asked the 3some to pick up the pace, they just smiled, we quit after the 11th hole, 2 hours and 45 minuets to play front and 30 minuets to play 10 & 11. they refused to wave us up on par 3s, we waved up group behind us on all the 3's and when we putted out and got to next tee the 3some was still on tee box ***####????
Shame !! it is a good course, great cart girl, but no marshall !!

Trying to dodge courses during aeration season sure is easy using Greenskeeper.org . Ended up at Hondo today cuz El Do and L-Wood are healing. The greens here are in very good condition, completely back from aeration and rolling nice. I made a 7:55 time as a single but Scott got me out at 7:15 as a walker with 3 great gentlemen. Fairways in great shape, too, full and only a few thin areas here and there. Bunkers have soft, white sand, easy to play from. Not a complaint from me today, well worth playing here at Hondo ... just had to put up with tree trimmers today and the occasional jetliner coming down for their landing at LAX (under the flight pattern). No biggie. PoP today started slow but a marshal was out hearding the cats and things moved along just fine after that (4:15). Cart gal out on the back nine. I recommend this course, I enjoyed my round here today. I gotta say, I just read a rant review for Skylinks ... the guy went off about no beverage cart (similar to his other '3' reviews). Sorry, but to me, if you're out early you might just have to take care of yourself and not blame the course because you did not come prepared. And, re. ball marks: if you tell us once, you don't need to tell us again ... we get it. sng out.

Played today in a nice 4 hour pace. Even though we were behind a small men's club event, it smoothed out very nicely after 3/4 holes. Customer service excellent at all levels. We had a fifth join us and they were very accommodating and asked us to please take carts to speed up play (great idea and more courses should look at this idea). Course is in good shape from tee to green, though I was disappointed that the course was very wet and that did not allow a lot of carry in the fairways. Tee boxes excellent; fairways (though damp) provided good lies all round; sand traps raked, clean and playable; rough was 1/2 to 1 inch and difficult to hit from (like the rough is supposed to do); greens were terrific and provided great putting/chipping speed consistently all round (totally void of divot and divot damage - great). I will plan on playing here on a more regular basis, given the service; price and conditions.

Sand was soft yet firm and very consistent to play from. Haven't played here in 10 years and I had forgotten some of the holes, but whatever improvements they made, it was definitely for the better. A fun time was had by all and I look forward to returning...

Wow, this is one popular course. Played around 1pm on 10/3 and we had to wait every hole. Talk about overbooking, with 2 tournaments on the day. They ran out of carts. It was an UCLA kind of day, myself included. The greens were nice and rolled fast. Ball couldn't get out of the rough to save my life. This is a pretty flat course, segmented by trees. I'm a high handicapper, I play according to my tee box. If you drive 150 yards, why are you playing from the blue?! Pace of play left me frustrated and wanting to pull my hair out. It was a 6 hour+ round.
