Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Tee boxes over seeded but very playable. 5 hrs for a Friday at 12:26. I really like this place because it doesn't seem like a typical Los Track. Conditions are are above average tee to green.
Played here on Saturday with bluekr3w. 9:48 Cool and clear skies. Went out as a twosome.
Tees were nice and level with fair marker placement.
Fairways were a little browned in spots but still playable.
Approach areas seemed a little shaggy and dry. They threw me off on wedge distances.
Rough was medium length. I was there often, but not to tuff to get out of.
Bunkers were nice and fluffy. Good sand. Loved them.
Greens were fast and smooth with sharp cut holes. Couple of pins were in spots I had never seen before.
POP was slow. Saturday and we were 2, so we waited on a lot of shots. Just under 5.5
This is a tight but fun track. Par 71. Seems like a small step above most muni's in the area conditions wise.
Would love to play again someday.

After a year and 4 months since my last visit, I teed off at 11:30 with a co worker. You know the story with this track and I wanted to see for myself how it was playing after the work last year. Well, I can't see how others were reviewing this course so high. 6.0, 7.0, come on now. Really?
Greens- Like always the best trait here. Smooth, nice and rolling great. Not punched or sanded yet.
Fairways- Same as always. Hard to tell its a golf course. Dry dirt hardpan with occasional grass under the ball.
Rough- None or ESA.
Bunkers- Thin, dirt, but playable somewhat.
Tees- Ok and level.
Pace- Slow 6 hours, but it was Saturday afternoon so I expected it.
Service- was good and they actually had a starter on 1.
Hard to feel this track when there are other courses in much better shape for a few $$ more.

So this course is still under repair with 3 of the par 4's still playing as par 3's of the mat. There is still some other fairways that are walking only and staked off for no cart traffic. IMO it really shouldn't be a green light just yet.
I have to say that they have made the effort to improve this course and it does look better than it did 3 or 4 months ago but, it's not there yet. I saw some of the redone areas dying out back to the way it was before. The fairways here are still hurting.
The tee's are ok for a muni, just wish the would open up those par 4's. How long will it take? 6months, A year? The greens are as always, Pretty good and rolling med to med fast. Bunkers, hard/no sand. Pop was good at 4.5 hrs. Price was online reduced.
Maybe it's just hard luck to redo a bunch of fairways right before a drought. Or maybe that old dump site under this course is winning the battle again.

Wow, Just noticed this par-3 was on GK now and no one has posted a review for it. Let me break the ice on it although I have not played it a while.
Heartwell is a par-3 18 hole with lights for playing at night. It also has a small driving range with mats. It is a Bill Bell design that is super fun for the short game and beginners/kids(longest hole is 140). It has grass tee boxes(not mats). Good fairways but it is pretty much about the greens here. They are kept well and have some tricky breaks. They also have lots of greenside bunkers and a lake that plays on a few holes. Most holes are tall tree lined but are wide enough for the most part.
I have heard this is where Tiger Woods got his start. The rumor was his dad use to drop him off in the morning and little woods would play and practice all day.
This track can get busy especially at night on the weekends. Lots of newbies here. Fun for some skins and a six pack.

I probably shouldn't have played it, but I did. This place needs some work asap.
Conditions didn't use to be this bad here a year or two ago. Former dump site has contaminated dirt and grass won't grow in the fairway here.
Tee boxes are not too bad and the greens are ok ish. The fairways are a bad scene. Dirt and weeds. The unspoken course rule here is to foot wedge it to a grass spot nearby(no penalty). Only problem with that is the nearest grass spot is 60 yards in front of you or 80 yards in back. Bunkers are very hard pack/ no sand.
Pace was great for a Sunday because no one wants to play this place.
Sorry to harsh anybody's mellow with this review.
P.S. This course would be a great spot to build L.A.'s new football stadium. It's close to freeways. Lots of flat space. They just need to put artificial grass there.

I played here for the first time on Sunday July 28th.
The course conditions were pretty good and went with the Gk ratings.
Tee boxes were nice and flat and the grass was nice on them. Fairways were mostly lush with only a few dried out areas. I only had one hardpan lie in the middle that I remember. Rough was about 2" to 3" and not to bad with a few missed fairways. Bunkers were nice and had a playable amount of sand in them. Greens were great imo and were fast and true. Most greens were 2 tiered and gave off some challenging lines.
Pace was good to me even though the cart GPS said we finished 40 minuets behind. We did have groups in front of our group, but we never waited longer than a few minutes to hit.
The Layout was fun and challenging with water on quite a few holes. Some holes were tight and straight was key. The par 3's were long and very challenging.
I have played a few military courses before and I would have to say, This the best one I have seen. Super fun.

Just a quick heads up with Los Amigos, The greens have been punched and sanded. They look like maybe they did it a few days ago.
Besisdes the greens not being a 100%, The course was in pretty good shape.
Tee's and fairways were a bit muddy from yesterday's rain storm. Bunkers had some standing water in few, Not a fair gauge of quality on those.
Pace of play was fantastic and our threesome looped in 4hrs even. Awsome for a Saturday at 1:00p.
That green on the par 3 9th is finished and is no longer a temporary. I think it has more break in it now.

Played here Friday the 28th. With only getting the front nine in on 2:28 tee time. Sunny, light winds and cool 50's. Pace was a bit slower with groups backed up at each tee box. Course is fantastic shape now. All the tee box work is done on the front with some very nice, new red tee boxes(hey Ladies!). Also a new mirror on he 9th tee. I think you can see more fairway and the approach zone better on this blind, downhill fairway with the new lens. Fairways were good and tight cut. Rough was fairly light. I couldn't putt this day, but the greens were rolling well. Bunkers a bit thin for me. The 7th green side right hand had standing water in it. Starter was on it. Overall a nice way to end the week.
Played yesterday as single at 10:52 after a small tournament. A local in the group advised me that the course is getting a 2 million dollar face lift. The tricky greens are not changing. Most of the work will be on the tee boxes. Laser leveling them and adding more tees forward. He also mentioned that allot of bunkers will be changing to speed up play(TY God). Some will be removed, others will be moving. All will be getting new sand. Also noted that some cart paths will be removed and or relocated (they are trashed anyway). All this will be done 2 holes at a time until finished next year. I personal witnessed grading stakes, surveyors and some heavy equipment showing up. I love this course and it sounds like the improvements will be a fine addition. As far as conditions for the round, Greens rolling a little slow but a test for getting the line as usual. Fairways a little dry and bare in spots. Muddy on approach areas. Tees were in fair shape and it was nice to play them with the original layout before they change. Bunkers were poor. 3/4" of sand then hard dirt/clay under that. Wont miss those. If you love the old Los V, Then you better play it be fore all this goes down.

Just finished playing this course. It had been a few years since playing here. I had remembered I didn't like it the last time. This time was way better. My buds were having a hard time finding a time on this day before Mothers day, So that's how we ended up here. This course is kinda corny. It winds thru the Santa Ana river bed up and down the banks of it. Lots of tee's elevated and greens are elevated also. Tee's were OK. Fairways were so so. The thing that is best here are the greens. They punched maybe 3 weeks ago and they are nice IMO. Very smooth and fun breaks. Getting up to them is a good challenge. They are well guarded and are always sloped around them with some bunkers and trees. This course will kick a high handicapper's butt so be warned, It's not that easy. It's pretty cheep tho.

Well I just finished playing this course today and made it thru all 18. Tee off was at 11:30 and finished at 5:30.Yes it was a 6 hour round. Our front was about 3 hours and 30 mins.(really.) I like this course layout and the conditions were pretty good. Tees were a little hammered but nice fairways and the greens have rebounded nicely. All in all a good place to spend the WHOLE afternoon. Slow pace zzzzzzz. Rhythm killer.
