This morning 6/1 first tee time out - while I know that in most cases the first tee time out is great, it is not always the preferred tee time. They were still doing maintenance work on the course and had not finished before we (the first group) got around.
Lots of water, grass cutting, and sand raking was happening. Now normally you do see some of this while playing but not on every hole you play.

There was once instance where the ball almost hit the guy in the bunker, then he wouldnt move his maintenance truck out of the way, so the player could hit the shot. Wth???
This was the only downfall to this mornings golf experience.

The starter was great, smiling and having a pleasent demenor - greets you and wishes you luck. he didnt rush us off or anything like that, even when people were waiting. Thanks.

The tee boxes were in good shape, but most of the tee markers were off to the side due to maintenance. The fairways were in good shape, as well as the bunkers and greens.
some greens were wet but they did roill true.

We played in 3.5 hours - well a little less this was the time after the cart was parked and the bags came off.

I have always like this course and still recommend it as a Long Beach must play course.

I played Skylinks with a tee time of about 10:15 on Saturday, March 24. As previously mentioned by GK hall of fame member ringworld, the front nine has been re-routed so that the par fives are no longer back to back and the par threes are separated by several holes. I was behind a men's club tournament, but the pace of play was still MUCH faster than the previous routing. I also think the course makes more sense this way. It's pretty similar to the old Skylinks front nine.
Course conditions are good to very good and, as usual, the greens are always the most fun aspect of the course. Very easy to walk. Great customer service.

$9 after 2:30pm for walkers add $7 for the golf cart deal is still on until DST March 11, 2012. Take advantage of this b/c we finished our round 18 holes in under 3.5 hours LOL. Of course one of the carts just about died on 16 and walking the course at a brisk pace is not only possible but doable. I would encourage you to take advantage of this really great deal -- And tell them Greenskeeper.org sent you :D

Greens extremely quick. Standing water on some of the greens b/c they water them in the late afternoon. Greens at this time very receptive and you can stop the ball quickly with the proper shot. Greens rolled pretty true. FOLKS FIX YOUR DIVOTS and ONE MORE. I hate to sound like a broken record but you too are the stewards of the golf course you play. That means YOU have to participate in its care. You want great golf conditions it comes down to you to ensure the golf course is left is as good a condition if not better than the way you played it. Why? Reciprocity. What goes around comes around.

Bunkers in good shape well stocked. Fairways are thin but very playable and I would even say bordering lush. Rough is heavy looking but thin and won't grab your club. Area around the greens are a little sketchy but you can literally put from off the green onto the green. Pin placement here is everything. Make sure you have your distances dialed in b/c these potato chip greens will have you for lunch if you are on the wrong tier or facing a huge downhill putt.

Pace of play was a blistering 3.5 hours for a weekday. So at $9 after 230pm. Throw in a golf cart for an additional $7 per player.... come on guys you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know this is a spectacular deal for these sort of golf conditions! Oh and did I tell you tell them Greenskeeper.org sent you :D

Greens a little bumpy from spike marks. Folks fix your divots, I am tired of cleaning up after you. Fast greens loads of roll need to lay up and run the ball. Fairways dormant which is typical for this part of year. Bunkers particularly the fairway bunkers are extremely punitive. Don't land in them they are deep with steep walls. Rough is thin and playable. Tee noes are flat. For the play I like the conditions. Would I play here again? Of course! Greens are extremely challenging. Land on the wrong portion and expect to 3put. I like that challenge. TIP: stay below the hole.

Been playing here for the last 4 weeks and conditions are great for this time of the year. The greens are in great shape and roll true. The bunkers are deceivingly higher than expected and getting out is a challenge..no cheesing the bunkers here.

Played here this past weekend. Out of all the courses in the area, to me the conditions here (good and bad) are most consistent.

With the exception of the sand and greens this course plays hard and fast. Greens were typical a little faster than your normal muni, and rolled pretty good. Fairways hard and thin, but completely expected here this time of the year. There is no rough, which in my opinion makes it more difficult, balls roll into hazards. Lots of sand, to much for my taste (footprints become more of an issue and buried lies) but ideal for most. Tee boxes stunk, the were flat but lots of sand and divot damage.

Played 2/7...avoided the rain all round. started at 12:15 and got done in 3 hours. Nobody was on the course. Fairways were green but very thin. The greens were chewed up with sand on them. But they still rolled with some speed. The tee boxes were lush and in great shape. The bunkers were great. There was plenty of sand. The course is definitely not worth the rack rate with the current conditions. Look to find a discount before you play here.

I played here 11-27-11. I think this course is very underrated. I also think it is way over priced at 70$ but the greens are very consistent and roll smoothly with good pace. Fairways are firm which allow for SERIOUSLY long drives. Long story short, I highly recommend this golf course but be prepared for a slow round with slightly above greens fees.

Played this morning, 10/21/11. The course is generally in pretty decent shape. When I saw the report that they aerated half the greens about a month ago and the other half a week ago, I assumed that meant something like they aerated the front nine, and then the back nine. Nope, they literally aerated one half of each green, then waited 3 weeks before aerating the other half. Actually, it works out pretty well. The greens are large enough that they keep the pins in the recovered green areas. And those areas rolled nicely today.

Haven't played here for a while but not much has changed. We were 3rd group out, and played in about 4.5 hrs, but tough to play much faster when they throw everyone out in fivesomes. Only other negative is some of the bunkers were a little inconsistent, and some a bit mushy from getting watered too much. Fairways and tee boxes were pretty good overall.
