Man it was slow - (and this is why I dont play on Sat.) -

Our round was from 1130am - 5pm. Now this has never happened to me at this course, there was a tourney in front of us and 4 other groups. Now the tourney was slowing everything down but was finished after the 9th hole.

Well it picked up a little bit after that and the round seemed to go just a little faster. Again this is not the norm at this course - I have played this course in 3.5 hours on several occassions.

Now on to the course itself.
It rained a little that morning so I thought the course would be a little wet. However, the fairways were in good condition. There was a couple of wet areas off the fairways but that is to be expected.
The greens were in good condition. (people please fix your ball marks) - the greens were holding shots and had very little roll out after the shot. They rolled pretty good, a tad slow but good.

The sand was wet and compacted. Mad bunker shots a little more difficult.

The tee boxes were in good shape except for the 2 par three - were there was divot damage, however I know they will get it fixed.

So overall it was a good day and the course was surprisingly in good condition after the rain. Will be back to play it again.

Played 8/21. Good thing it was a beautiful day, because it was a long one. Waited on every hole. Course is kind of dry right now. Some tight fairway lies, but if you can hit the fairway will get a good roll. Greens are firm and fast enough with enough breaks to cause trouble. Too many three putts today. In general it's a nice course with a nice variety of holes - challenges include well placed sand, water, and mature trees. Got a lot of airport noise (helicopters and jets), but you get used to it. Definitely worth a try if you haven't played before.

Played Friday the 19th and the course is in good shape. The one thing I don't understand is why are they charging weekend rateson Friday. I guess they are trying to get every last penny out of us. The is fun with lots of good holes and the greens are mid. fast. Will come back, just Monday to Thursday.

Got out today at 1:15PM on Saturday and it took 5:45 to play a round. Writing that made me feel painful. No marshall all day. Saw the cart girl several times. I remember one time calling the proshop to ask for a marshall and the guy just hung up on me.

Anyway, greens were bumpy for decent speed. The fairways were in decent condition and the 1 fairway bunker I was in had nice fluffy sand.

It'll be the last time I'll play here for a wknd afternoon round. Skylinks, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Played on 4/13/2011 SLOOOOOOOW round. Allows fivesomes. Group in front was a fivesome who would drop and hit 2 balls off fairway and make additional putts on green. Complained to marshall who stated slow golf course fallback, "Pace of Play" How about golf etiquette?!?! They are redoing 5 teeboxes which means your hitting from the red tees. They should inform golfers of this when you make your tee time. Sand was inconsistant in the bunkers and I fixed a minimum of 5 ball marks on each green. If you like waiting on every shot, this is your course. Otherwise go somewhere else.

Played here on saturday morning 4/16. They did an interesting thing by re-routing the front 9 back to the old route before the redo. So it went 1, 2, 9, 7, 8, 3, 4, 5, 6. They did that to speed up play. I don't know if it worked because we were a three-some the second ones out and the group we followed were kinda slow. Still we played in 4 hours. The greens are recovering nicely on the half that was punched. I noticed a lot less ball marks on the greens than there were previously; I suspect it was due to the fixing them with on of those no-bending-over-ball-mark-fixer thingys. Fairways were lush with spring growth. The bunkers were all fluffy, except I did bottom out on one on 9/6 (the par 3 by the maintance shop). Rough was fair.

Played yesterday, course is in normal Skylinks condition. Fairways are a little thin and hard, tee shots get a lot of roll. Bunkers are pretty good, and there isn't much rough at all.

Played yesterday, course is in normal Skylinks condition. Fairways are a little thin and hard, tee shots get a lot of roll. Bunkers are pretty good, and there isn't much rough at all.

Greens were in good shape and rolled a little quicker than normal, there was some divot damage. The greens are the courses main defense. Every hole can be a challenging two putt, due to the quickness and mounds.

Played at around 8:30 today and the course was in better shape than I expected. Cart path only and about 3X as many ponds as normal from the recent rain but it wasn't that bad to walk. Finished the ro... Continue »

Played at around 8:30 today and the course was in better shape than I expected. Cart path only and about 3X as many ponds as normal from the recent rain but it wasn't that bad to walk. Finished the round in about 4:40 without ever having to wait for the group in front of us or having anyone hit into us. The course was wet and the air was windy but I was depserate to get in a round on my week off. Surprisingly the bunkers were not puddled and played as if there was only a light sprinkle. The greens were a bit soggy but that only slowed putts down a tiny bit. The biggest problem was the wind but I hear it's not typically windy there. Tee boxes were in really good shape too.

Played Skylinks on 12/28/10, with a tee time booked for 1:08. Figured to get 15 holes in before dark, more if lucky. Course conditions were so-so, but acceptable considering all the rain the week before. Despite the Skylinks comments on GK in the past, the course management was horrible. By the time we teed off, it was after 1:40 (more than a half hour late). When we reached the second hole tee box, it looked like we hit the cart barn. There were two groups in front of us WAITING to tee off. It was like that the whole afternoon. We gave up after nine holes, which took us just over three hours to play! Ridiculous!

When I asked the management before we teed off why they were so behind, they gave me the excuse that they couldn't control things. Said every business is like that! So, they don't have a marshall on the course to keep things moving, they book too many tee times for their tee time schedule (I believe every 8 minuts or so), and they still allow walk-ons instead of pushing groups out or matching up people for the no-shows. It is not that complicated.

This is just another overpriced and overplayed public course that wants you to believe that it is somehow better than the munis out there. Save your money and avoid gray hairs by playing somewhere else. I will not be returning.
