Was able to get an early tee time one day in advance via Golfnow.com, can't beat that for a LB course, $51 w/cart. Course in okay shape: fairways drying out so the grass is short and there's lots of roll ... makes the course play shorter than it is. A bit too many unrepaired divots. Greens are speedy and sometimes will not hold even a well struck ball, a bit of a crap shoot so pay attention to your approach so you don't get surprised. Bunkers a bit dry w/fine sand, but I had decent lies for the most part. Pace was a bit slow for an early time ... we played in 4:40. Would I come back again? Yes, especially if I can get on with such short notice without having to drive an hour. But it must be a slow round if you don't get off early ...

Pace of play was slow, a group of 30-somethings got in front of us at the tee box, we did not complain since we are retired and in no hurry but if we had known they were going to be so slow we might have insisted on our tee time. The staff was friendly as usual and seem to appreciate our business every time we come here. Played on Wednesday 8:36, Ladies Club have their weekly play about that time so try to book earlier if you play on Wed.

Course is being well maintained and in good shape, some tricky breaks on the greens and running med-fast. Sand in bunkers was good depth and consistency.

I played the course on Sat. 10/24/09. My only complaint is that ALL of the blue tees were so very soggy. The white tees and forward were normal.

Course is getting back into shape. They aerated half their greens (1/2 of each green is aerated) and they are healing up nicely. Should be perfect in a few weeks as the holes close up. The recent rain should be a nice help to the grass. The greens are a little slow here but that is a good thing. Not terribly slow just a little slower than what you see when you look at the greens. The greens are receptive as well which is a nice change. You can get aggressive with your approach shots. Saw the cart gal more than 4 times as she made her trek. It was Hot today (94*) so it was a welcome relief. I like what they have done so far with the place. The new GM (1 year old) has done wonders and the staff is very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Gotta say though the only bad thing was the 6 hour round. Thankfully my day was cleared so I didn't have to be somewhere b/c the round did take longer than it should. We did our dilligence and kept up with the group ahead, rarely saw the group behind us except for a few holes but for some reason it slowed down. I think it was the tournament earlier but who is to say. On a more positive note, greens will come back in good form soon. They are a little bumpy but do roll true. Fairways are in great shape a little thin in spots but still very playable. Tee boxes are in good shape. Sand in bunkers are top notch. Some folks say this course is boring but honestly it does offer good challenging play. Short game here is king and putting a must. You have to know where to place the ball on certain holes or more important where to avoid to punch this course's ticket. Overall I am pleased with the course conditions I just didn't plan on it taking that long to play.

This course is coming around great. A few months ago it was in shifty shape, but since they moved the greenskeeper from Big Rec to skylinks he is making those greens alot better. I used to hate playing here from the tips cause my putting would be so inconsistant but now the greens rolling really good. I say if you have a residents card and do twilight, its a great course to play. it is the expensive on in LBC but its worth it if you do twilight.

Decided to give this course another shot on 9/23. I remember the pace of play being great here and was not disappointed this time around. Starting at 3:20 we finished 18 (albeit playing 18 in the dark). Staff was very friendly as usual.

The greens were not as fast as they were in June, more than likely due to the aeration on one side of every green. Still the undulations were tricky and getting on the correct tier is key. Some pin position were just plain mean. The course has a very nice layout, but the conditions are kind of suspect. Thin and patchy fairways, inadequate draining in some areas. Lot of brown spots. Something I didn't realize before was just how many bunkers there are. Just about every hole has a set of bunkers and some holes have a bunch. On this one hole they have a bunker on the right side of a dogleg left that puts it smack in the middle of the fairway. That's just stupid. If you like that sort of thing, this course is for you. You can be hitting a driver, 3-wood or 7-iron on some holes! Other than that, the course plays well. The scenery, even though flat, is very nice. So much so its hard to tell you're in the middle of dense city next to an airport.

This is just one of those courses that just does not fit my eye but that doesn't make it a bad. It's actually a very nice course. But I'm not a fan.

Played Skylinks on Sunday (9/20). Arrived in parking lot around 2:45 p.m. -- playing solo with no reservation -- and was teeing it up all alone at #1 by 3:00. The starter was friendly and honest, warning that I might not be able to finish 18 before dusk with a three-some already on the course a few holes ahead of me, but she was wrong. I holed-out on #18 by 6:30 p.m. after WALKING the round. Majority of the tee boxes were in good shape with a few showing a lot of divots. Fairway conditions were consistent with pretty lush coverage but the after-effects of some aeration were visible. The greens were also suffering from aeration. I heard that they punched 50% of each green about a week ago. Areas without aeration/sanding rolled smooth. No idea when they plan to finish the job on the remaining 50% of each green. You may want to ask the starter if you call for a reservation over the next few weeks.
