Played today at 11am-ish. Weather is overcast this time of the year but that marine layer burned off to show off this course. Greens do roll true here. The undulations on the greens alone can cause caniptions but get the speed right and you will be rewarded. Balls do roll fairly true, just have to navigate past the large number of divots. After a while noticed the number of divots were dwindling so it may have been just the previous groups. Greens are speedy and the practice greens are a good indicator of what to expect. They were not as fast as I remember but fairly quick compared to other courses outside Long Beach. For Long Beach though I would rate them as fast as Rec or El Dorado. Fairways are a bit thin but also very playable. Folks do replace their divots or use the mix which is a nice change of pace. Tee boxes some were a bit uneven but also very playable. Sand in bunkers and I hit more than my fair share is the right mix of firm and soft. Sand is soft on top but you have a nice hard (not concrete) base that allows me to hit through the ball instead of digging myself into a deeper hole. You can shape a good sand shot just beware of those high faces for the fairway bunkers almost like hitting greenside bunkers only you're 150 yards away.

Finished in around 4 hours. Very respectable course especially playing as a resident (which I am). No marshal but pace of play was decent for this time of day (I was doing backflips for a 4 hour round.) The new carts they have use those higher end GPS. Pretty usefull and just as good as a Yardage Book without the expense. If you have to ride a cart, these little bad boys are well worth the added expense.

Just one comment, they have water jugs on several holes. No water. What is up with that? No cups? What is up with that? And throw in no cart girl trolling, it made for one thirsty round. You had 3 gals in the restaurant, what can you do to get one of them to hustle around ... maybe focus on the first 4 holes then the last five holes every hour or so? I am sure you would generate additional business. Just my humble opinion, but I am just saying.
