Played on 7/20. Course is in good shape with the punched greens recovering nicely (although they are slower than normal still). Westlake will never be known for manicured fairways but they are in good shape for a heavily played muni. Tee boxes are being worked on individually but are still crowned and hard to find a level spot on 16. Great staff and a fun course to play.

Played on 7/5/07. Starter gave us a discount - $29.00 per person (riding). Greens were bumpy and very slow. Fairways were in good shape. Many tees were not level.

Played on 7/5/07. Starter gave us a discount - $29.00 per person (riding). Greens were bumpy and very slow. Fairways were in good shape. Many tees were not level.

There were some slow groups ahead of us that slowed our group and affected our play. The marshal was not very helpful in getting the pace of play on track.

For the most part I like this executive course. It is tougher than it looks. If you stray from the fairway you invariably are punished severely because there are many trees that golf balls are attracted to. If you stay in the fairway you can score well.

Today, the greens could have been in better shape. They were bumpy and extremely slow. The tees were positioned so that many were not very level.

It played decent. Seems a bit pricey for what you get. Although not perfect there are some REAL holes on this course (2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 13) and it made for a nice afternoon out.

Had a 1:30 on Sunday a week and a half ago. They gave us the twighlight rate early. Was the best part.

Tee Boxes were very inconsistant. Some were very lush, while others were like cement. Greens were bumpy and not kwpt up very well. Pace was horrible. They packed way too many people in there, trying to make as much as they could late.

On the 11th, my father took out a 3 wood for his second shot. He hits a low screemer and it HITS A GOOSE!!! The geese are definately not as smart as the ducks, who MOVE AWAY WHEN THEY SEE YOU COMING. They leave droppings all over the fairways and greens, but still...you never want to hit one!

To sum up, as the course should be in very good condition now, they overstuff it and pack people in. Not bad for twightlight rate. Probably wont be back.

Course wasn't in very good condition. Yeah, i know this isn't exactly Augusta National, but I've played here 5 or 6 times in the last couple months, and this was easily the worst condition its been in. Greens were very inconsistant...forget about reading a break. Your ball rolls all over the place. Tee-boxes weren't kept up at all. One hole, there was a large hole, not a divot, but a pothole in the tee box.

Hey, if you're just looking to play golf, get a good time on the weekend, Westlake is your place. Dont go in expecting too much, just a pretty enjoyable round. The price could be better, for a long-exec, its more expensive than the LA city and County courses, as well as Camarillo Springs and Los Robles in that area. But its easy to get on, the staff is always VERY nice and helpful, so I'll be back.

Very nice courteous staff in pro shop/starters desk. For an Executive style course Westlake has some challenging holes. The course is in pretty good condition and the greens are maintained very well.

Come on! This is So. CA. with thousands of golfers, little rain and year round play! What do you expect from a muni here? WGC is as good as any in the area and better than most! If you want lush, green fairways, perfect lies and smooth greens at your local muni, you would like Michigan...except you can only play half the year!

2/16 UPDATE: I just wanted to post a quick note about the tournament director at Westlake, Chris Graham. My convinced my buddies from O.C. to finally come out my way for a change. I called several courses to find out if I could get 12 players out on 3/4 and, if so, what would they do for us? Los Robles requires 15 or more, no flexibility. Forget Crystal Springs (conditions horrible). Instead, my little muni Westlake and Mr. Graham were quick to respond and agree to host our little event, on a SUNDAY morning, mind you! Chris not only promised to set us up with everything we would need to make it a fun event, but also suggested I move the requested start time back 30 min. to save 5$ per player! Class act! I know that the course is an "extended exec" course with slow greens and slow play on weekends. But, my pals and I spend 5 hours at Dad Miller all the time. I know we will have a ton of fun in two weeks and I am looking forward to it. By the way, played yesterday and the fairways are starting to respond to the rain and warmth by showing some spring growth through the dormant grass of winter. Greens may be a bit slow but they are in as good of shape as any in the area. Especially for a heavily played muni track. I'm glad this one is just down Lindero Canyon for me!
