I played here this last Saturday, using a Teeoff.com voucher. I think I paid about $40, including cart and range balls. Weather wise, it was on the cool and breezy side. Lots of sun and about 60 degrees with a steady 15 mph breeze. The course had aerated greens as of April 17, so it's been more than a couple of weeks. The greens have not yet healed completely but are very close. They told us it was cart path only because they were trying to get the turf to come back. Our group included a couple of locals and we did not really adhere to the cart path only request. I did not see a big deal here, as there were no areas that were overly wet.

Pace of play was about 3.5 hours.

Greens rolled good enough. Because they weren't healed from the aerification, it was slightly bumpy at times. The speed was good; fast but not too fast. Maybe rolling at about a 10.

Fairways were good. Not a lot of problems with tight lies or bare ground; however, they could establish a thicker turf with some more irrigation. We were told that they did chemically treat the turf for weeds, so don't lick your balls.

Rough was deep in some spots. I noticed some areas of clover which made it hard to find a ball because of all the white flowers. The further you got from the fairways the worse the conditions. It could be deep rough, weeds, or dirt. Outside of that you are in the desert.

Tees were all level and fairly nice. There was adequate coverage of turf, not too many divots and mostly easy to place a tee.

Bunkers were just okay. Some had small rocks, many were wet and looked hard, but for the most part they did play okay. I was in a couple and I had little problem getting out.

Overall, for the price, I was happy. The pace of play was great and I got out for around $40. I know they do have decent food, but I opted to head back home after the round. I would go back for the low price. If there were no discount, my choice in the area would be Rancho Vista.

I played here yesterday on a TeeOff.com deal, paying about $35 for a round at 11:00 a.m. Unfortunately, it was a slow round and I had to leave early. Although the course was in dormant condition, the playability was decent. There was plenty of cushion on the dormant grass and the greens were receptive to most shots. Also, the greens were very fast and putting downhill was challenging to say the least. This course is definitely a desert layout. Not a lot of elevation changes, but not totally flat either. Most of the greens were small and they were somewhat elevated in relation to the approaches. The fairways were narrow at times and keeping the ball in play was a challenge for me. I managed to find my ball when I did spray it and I was able to punch it back out to the fairway each time. Tees were nice and level and the bunkers were well maintained. The course personnel were very courteous and friendly. There is a good selection of beers in the clubhouse. Trent in the pro shop was super friendly and he did say the course is open for public play.

Best conditions I’ve seen in years. It appears they’ve been watering as tee boxes and fairways were lush and green. Greens were firm and fast but a little bumpy as they punched a few weeks ago. Little to no rough so ball will run into desert area. Nice short game area with large putting green. Good customer service no cart person. Pro shop did sell drinks.

11/29/20 was the play day. It was clear skies and very little wind of 8 miles an hour. A perfect day for golf. We got off the tee right at 12:10 as scheduled. The staff were great right from calling in for a tee time throughout the check out looking for a 9 iron a buddy had left off #7 by a bunker. No bev cart- not a problem.

I’d like to start with the greens. What a pleasure to have putt on! These are what I think tour caliber greens are at. Smooth, true and fast. No joke, you’ll have to have all nerves working to be able to putt well on these greens- beautiful!

The roughs were almost nonexistent. I was not happy about that. But then I think they’re finally figuring out what Jack Nicklaus had been doing for many years- they’re taking the grass off about a hundred yards from the forward tees. That’s going to save some time for maintenance and watering dollars.

The fairways were good with some divots around the approach distances but not bad.

The bunkers could use some sand- both the greens side and fairways bunkers (I think).

The teeing grounds were a little uneven but not chewed up, instead lush.

All in all, the course played better than good, but not eye popping brilliantly good- just a good play.

I’ll be back again for sure. I see that GroupGolfer has a new deal. The freaking thing about it is that the course is only having a day in advance yo make a tee time. For a group of four, it sucks during short daylight hours like right about now. As a single or a twosome, it worked out for us.

I hope to be back before the end of the year.

Rode the Blues (6710/71.9/129) in 4H, 40M mid day. Very windy most of the round, clear and in the 60's made for challenging scoring conditions. First time here, arrived before my tee time. Presented my Group Golfer prepaid voucher and the pro shop told me I could go next, after the 4some on the tee. Before I even left the pro shop, a younger 4some strolled in and was told they were next up? Assume they were members? No explanation, but made for a poor first impression. The guys that were moved in front of me were drinking, betting and having a good time. One of them routinely hit multiple shots before we could tee off. After a long first hole, I was joined by a 2some on #2 for the rest of the front. They quit because of the POP after 9. With 3 groups on #10 tee, I asked the 2some behind to join up but they declined, saying they wanted to play alone. They seemed irritated when I was sitting in my cart by #12 tee and they caught me again. When I told them I had been waiting there for about 5 minutes, and the 4some in front was barely 200 yards away in the trees, they rode in and quit. By #14 the 3some behind them caught me on the tee and joined me through #18. Waited on almost every shot for 18 holes. Not complaining, the guy paid his $$ and was trying, he just wasn't very good. Considering the wind and the speed of the greens, it was just going to be a long day. Seemed longer than 4H, 40M, Kviser would have had a coronary before the back 9! I woke up really wanting to post a good score, those thoughts left after seeing the flags when I drove up. I correctly ascertained this was basically going to be a see the course and get in some on course practice where any par was a good par type day. 1954 Billy Bell design. Flat, fairly tight with lots of trees that come into play down the sides of fairways. Okay even if nothing overly distinctive layout wise. Reminded me very much of Arrowhead C.C. visually and condition wise. Tees were decent, good coverage with most divots filled in. Poor fairways. Dormant Bermuda and hardpan. Winter thin was about as good as it got. Rough was even worse. Dormant Bermuda with much larger areas of hardpan. I hit probably 8 shots total off dirt in fairway or rough areas I would expect to be finding grass. Traps were decent for a course in a windy area. More raked dirt than sand, but they played okay. Old school sloping back to front greens before tiering became popular. Crown in the middle falling off to both sides. Very smooth and the fastest greens I have putted on since ???, they rolled excellent. I played parts of the round with 5 different golfers, and every one joined me in putting at least one ball coming over a crown off the green into the rough. Once the ball got rolling downhill on many greens, the combination of firm and fast made them almost unputtable. Especially if also downwind. A ball trickling by the hole that you could normally expect a 3-4' comebacker sometimes ended up 20 yards off the green? You hoped there was a collar in the direction you were putting as a potential backstop if downhill, because there often wasn't enough good turf on the hardpan to stop balls blown by the wind rolling downhill. Carts did not have GPS, no on course services. Course is not well marked for yardages with some holes having 100/150/200 yard markers. Well stocked pro shop and they appeared to have an open restaurant. Dated Country Club that opens up play to the public certain days to survive as a semi private. Did not have high expectations based on prior reviews but the course did not meet even lowered expectations. My rating will be artificially high because the greens were so good, but from tee to fringe I rarely play courses in this poor of condition. Much more comparable to a L.A. County muni than a Country Club. Could not recommend based on the combination of remote location and poor playing conditions.

Like Burchsm5, I took advantage of the GroupGolfer Member for a Day deal. The weather is warming up in the high desert. We started around 9:45, although the starter said he might not be able to get us out before our 10:00 tee time, and finished around 1:15. It got to about 94 degrees by the time we finished. It was warm all morning with a nice breeze. Totally fine by me.

Greens: medium fast, running around a 10 plus. You could see that they were nearly recovered from recently being aerated. However, they rolled true and were very consistent.

Fairways: nicely cut with really good roll. If you can stripe a drive down the middle you will get great yardage. Nice dual cut (not really sure what you call it, but they were cut with the mower going away on one side and coming in on the other side) giving the fairways a nice light/dark appearance.

Rough: just a mixed bag of healthy turf, some weeds, and areas of sparsely growing grass. Once outside the fairways your ball will hop and bound all over the place until it either dies in deep rough, settles on thin grass or dirt, or runs into the desert landscaping.

Tees: we played the whites. Mostly level with good turf. Occasionally you had to look for a good spot.

Bunkers: we both were in a few. I would say that they are improved from the last time we played here. Good, medium fine sand; grayish in color. They were damp, but nicely groomed and easy to hit from.

I kind of like the course. They could do more to make it better (like water more and widen the fairways and rough). Maybe reduce the amount of desert landscaping and kill the burrowing rodents. You know, less country and more club. We paid $34, I think. Good pace and people here are friendly.

Took the 45 minute drive to Palmdale on a group golfer member for a day for $39. Practiced on the grass chipping area and sand trap prior to our round. Staff in the Proshop was fantastic, best I’ve had. Our tee time was 10:00, members gets first dibs, but we were able to get off a little early. POP 3 hours as a twosome, we were flying. Course was busy, but country club dudes play fast. I always wondered who pays $13,000 for the Costco golf cart, well AVCC members lol, they had some tricked out carts.

Tee boxes were mostly level and cut. Some areas of the fairways were dormant, but good lies could be found. All traps had been turned and were well maintained. Not much rough to speak of. The greens were the real star, they were boarderline perfect. I really enjoyed my rounds even though at one point a wanted to slam my putter into my bag and break all my shafts lol, a quadruple will do that to you. Group golfer has the member for a day for the next couple of days. According to the bartender they are going to do it every quarter, I highly recommend it if you live in SCV or AV.

Okay, back again for the second time this week. Got to love a member for a day deal. Greens running a little slower, most likely due to the heat. Not too slow; I would say medium fast overall, maybe a 9 or 9.5. Greens were also a little firm and if you cannot spin an approach, it could be hard to hold.

The fairways were good overall. Water saving measures throughout the course, such as the first 100 yards off the tee and further from the fairways you will find it very dry. Mostly though, I had good lies and enough turf under the ball unless it was in one of the many desert features.

The rough was a mixed bag of lush, green fescue, Bermuda grass, and hard pan turf. Areas of shade were better than those areas exposed to the sun. There's also a good amount of trees to keep you honest; you can't just blast your shots anywhere.

Bunkers are probably the weakest part of this course. The best ones had a thin layer of sand over hard pan dirt; the worst ones were just dirt clods with a little sand over hard pan. I guess you should avoid them!

The course is in an older housing tract (think ranch-style 1960's) just off the 14 Freeway. The clubhouse and facilities match the surrounding neighborhood. Folks here are nice and it's a very relaxed vibe. I was able to play through a couple of groups this week and each round was about 2 hours for me.

Nice and breezy here in the afternoons. Just enough wind today to make things interesting, maybe two clubs at times. I suspect it's almost always windy here in the afternoons.

For the $54 (I took my buddy's voucher off him for $20, since he couldn't use it) I paid for two rounds here, I can't complain. They do not normally have public play here, so you need a special "Member for a Day" deal if you're not a member. GroupGolfer.com has offered it twice this year so far.

Played here Friday morning with a buddy. We purchased vouchers from Groupgolfer, paying about $36/player. I knew it would be cold, and it was; however, we were surprised to see snow flurries on the way there in Bouquet Canyon.

My buddy bought a beanie at the pro shop for $20. Good thing, too. They must sell quite a number of them as they have a good selection to choose from.

We had a 10:00 tee time but we got out right away about 40 minutes early.

Greens: fast, smooth, and somewhat hard. Maybe they were just thawing out.

Fairways: decent lies with thin-to-good coverage. No bare areas. There was a lot of roll out due to winter dormancy of the Bermudagrass.

Rough: mostly cut like the fairways with a couple of pockets of thicker grass.

Bunkers: all raked with plenty of sand. Pretty good considering all the wind.

Tees: mostly level without a lot of divot damage. Some challenging angles if you’re playing anything other than a straight shot.

We ate in their clubhouse after our 3 hour round. Food was just okay and not really expensive. I got a nice IPA for about $7 and fish and chips for about $9.

Good time golfing on a fun and challenging layout, but I might wait until spring weather next time.
