We played this AM in 3 hrs 15 minutes so a wonderful POP. Course is in good shape but you can see they are using water carefully. Some brown areas in fairways but does not effect play. Greens are in great shape, as well as tee boxes and bunkers. FYI Thursdays seem to be slow there currently? The new super they brought in last year has/is doing a great job with all the play it is getting. Now here is a new word of caution for those who play there. The local police have decided to sit at the bottom of the entrance to catch those of you who go faster than 25 miles down the hill. Watched 3 people get caught this morning and I understand they have been doing this regularly. Be advised so you don't really spoil your golfing day other than playing badly.

Los Verdes is one of the most scenic courses around, but perhaps the worst in pace of play. First of all we play a tournament there every year, and only once do I remember ever teeing off on time. As a tournament group, we are assessed a tournament surcharge of $15 per person, but yet, we've been delayed anywhere from half hour to an hour. Yesterday it took my group 6 hours and 15 minutes to play 18 holes. We waited on every hole, the foursome behind us was very impatient, always hitting into us. There was no marshal on the course. I know revenue is key to any business, but to stack up the tee sheet as tightly as they do makes for a very unpleasant round.

Played today as a single and a walk-on; two things you really shouldn't do here from my own personal past experience but I was surprised to get into a group after a 30-45 minute wait. Not bad. When I paid my green fee ($27 to walk/$40 to ride/$44 to ride single)I joked with the starter and asked if it was crowded. All I got from him was a "harumph yeah." Then I asked if it was slow, and all I got was crickets. LOL. I guess he didn't like me joking around about pace of play. Should I be concerned? I just brushed it off and figured he was having a bad day, just surprised I would get a response like that. Is that normal?

Such is life. Well the weather was good anyways. Not too hot or cold. But I was in for a decently paced round. We had to wait on several holes but it was really backed up. We did move along quite well after the front 9.

Saw cart girl twice, once on the front 9 and around hole 17. She has to make a few more rounds in a 5 hour period.

Greens are SLOW. I managed to figure out the pace but because the greens were so slow the ball did some funny things on it's way to the hole. Not happy about that as I managed to blow birdie opp after birdie opp (yeah right.) Still the greens were a bit odd and I feel did not roll exactly true even after a ball change. Fairways in decent shape; good coverage. Same as rough which I rarely saw this round. Sand is good, very fluffy as a few in my group can contest. Tee boxes in decent shape.

Overall I was happy with the course. The greens still leave a funny taste in my game but let's hope they are either planning on cutting the greens soon or punching.

Played this AM in 3.5 POP. Marshal was out moving players along, who had teed off between 5 and 5:30 and it worked (thanks Joe). Pro shop is stopping back 9 play 15 minutes before 7 AM to speed up play. Course superintendent has course in great shape compared to a few weeks ago. Tee boxes all level/clean. Fairways cut, defined and rough is getting stronger. Greens are just great, like we all expect @ LV. They continue to maintain and improve this course with the help of GM Bob Lockhart and his excellent staff.

They have indeed been working on the course and it is in good shape. Pace of play was not an issue (3.5) and the marshal was out enforcing it. All tee boxes cut and in good shape and accepting tees willingly. Fairways cut, shaped and providing good lies. Rough is there when missing fairways and worse the farther away from center of fairway you go. Sand traps appeared in good shape but no personal experience to add further. Greens were all cut, healed and rolling very well whether chipping, pitching or putting. Very pleased with the course versus some past play dates.

Played this morning in better than 4 hours, but that was the extent of the good news. No water in bathrooms due to broken water main. No food in the restaurant for the early patrons because power was out all night and spoiled many food items. And the chaos in the pro shop due to the power failure was not good news to those having a tee time later than 6:22. And it did not get any better out on the course. Greens are in less than stellar shape. This after aeration, sanding, cutting done almost a month ago. Fairways had many wet spots and were poorly cut. Found many wet areas around many greens as well. Bunkers had numerous unraked areas that had not been touched by maintenance. Don't have any idea what is going on but I hope they get it together sooner than later. Hope those playing after me, find better conditions?

5:24 tee time on Saturday, May 31. One group ahead of us. We were a fivesome (3 walkers, 2 riders). Four of us were on time and teed off at 5:24. Our 5th finally showed up but the marshal would not let him tee off. Drove him down the fairway and dropped him off. You would think that we would be upset about this but, no. We understand what so many do not: Tee off on time and keep up with the group ahead of you. It was our 5th's fault for not showing up on time. The marshal warned us that the group behind us were locals and that we should probably let them play through at some point if we fell behind. Well, we finished the round in 3:50 (3 walkers, 2 riders). The locals behind us? Two holes behind us. We ended up 1.5 holes behind the group ahead of us but they were a foursome and were all riding. We tried our best. I was one of the walkers and, boy, did I get a work out trying to keep up! I haven't played Los Verdes since all of the course changes. I have to say, the course is looking good! The tee boxes are fantastic (yes, spotty in some areas but fantastic for a course that gets the amount of play that it does). Fairways are okay and greens are fantastic. As I have noted in other reviews, get out EARLY and you avoid the slow play that plagues ANY course (public) in the greater Los Angeles area. Unless you have the deep pockets to play Trump, that is. Great overall experience. We finished so early that we had time to have breakfast in the coffee shop. I had french toast, eggs and bacon. It was all good as was the service. Granted, we had just missed a huge crowd. There was only one server so I am sure that service wasn't all that timely before we got there.

Played this morning and it was again under 4 hours. Tee boxes; fairways; bunkers all in good shape. No maintenance alert is showing for LV but greens had fertilizer on all holes, causing them to be slow and they needed mowing. Be aware public shotgun Monday June 2 followed by a private tournament.
