Played the Back 9 here on Sunday (4/20) morning. Course conditions overall were generally good as is usually the case, but evidence of aeration was still clearly visible on several greens. Made for a challenging mix -- some fast/smooth and some slower/bumpy rolls. No matter. It still beat a morning of yardwork!

They areated the second half of the greens last week. Give it two weeks and the greens will be back to normal.

Played back in March. Fun but slow as usual. Best views for your $ in Los Angeles, hands down.

Played 4/12/09: aeration continues but they're only doing half the green on each hole, so you can end up starting your putt on a recently aerated portion and end up on the smooth stuff ... and and they are cutting them short. The greens will hold a medium to high approach with no problem but if you hit a low runner it could easily end up off the backside. Warmer weather (and a tighter water budget) makes for lots of roll in the fairways, too. Pace of play is still very slow, that won't ever change, but conditions are about as good as it gets here on the hill.

Note: call and ask when they plan to aerate the second side ... it should be around April 20 or so.

Played on 3/14, and for some reason this course takes a while to play. We did not wait on too many shots but the ususal 5 1/2 hr round at this course. The course has never looked better in my opinion. The fairways are ok, but the greens were fast and smooth and very few ball marks on green. Looks like people are fixing ball marks. I look forward to playing here soon

Played on Feb 6th. Originally had a 0904 @ Wilson Park, called them @ 0600 starter said course was drenched and probably best not to come. Took a chance and drove up to Los Verdes @0730, Had breakfast and me and three went out in some rain @0900 second foursome to brave the water-People were walking off-(thank God for rainsuits).No standing water. A bit of mud course did not hold much water and greens ran smooth and medium fast-(everything toward the ocean-right!) Great time, took all of 4hrs and then off to IN & Out Burger. All for a wonderful 51st birthday.

Forcast weather was for rain - we had a 12:40 tee time, the starter got us out 15 mins early - Teed off at 12:30 after practicing putting.

Forcast weather was for rain - we had a 12:40 tee time, the starter got us out 15 mins early - Teed off at 12:30 after practicing putting.
The course was great, the greens rolled good. Medium fast on the front, and fast on the back. Some of the tee boxes need a little work as well as the fairways.

Rain never came and the playing pace was perfect - I have played her before and usually walk becuase the pace of play is so slow. The only thing that slowed us down for this round was a single that did not want to play with us???? We finished in 4hours and 10 mins - perfect for this course.
Food service staff was very attentive and provided good service. All in all it was a very good day -

And 48 hours later we have Santa Ana conditions ... typical SoCal this time of year. Greens are in decent condition but keep the ball below the hole cuz they're fast and slippery. The dry weather gives the fairways considerable roll, both forward and sideways, so be forwarned. Tee boxes are getting beat up. Still a beautiful view (w/no fog) and the slowest 18 holes you'll ever play.

On a day when everywhere else was sunny and warm, Los Verdes was cold, windy, and foggy. Never saw even a glimmer of sun until I left the course, and drove into a beautiful sparking day. (It was so cold and overcast, it felt like it was evening for the entire round even though we tee'd off at 10:30am. The greens were the best part of the course, very nice. The fairways were lousey, thin and patchy, always leaving a bad lie no matter where in the fairway the ball came to rest. (Makes for some difficult shot making from those lies) I really like this course, despite the incredible slow pace of play, but when you can't even see the ocean once in 5+ hours due to the fog and your hands are numb from the cold, it makes what could have been a beautiful day into a struggle to endure.
