Played the front 9 of the Valley course with Kviser and Fear on 10/27. The course is coming back from recent maintenance and is looking great. The fairways are absolutely the best i have played on all year. Lush, Green and Consistent. They have been cart path only since over seeding. As much as it is a pain for the golfer, i would support cart path only FOREVER if they could maintain the current fairway condition.

I wanted to add Kviser comment on outstanding customer service. The pace of play was horrible due to a couple of idiots playing from the tips and not having the skills to be there. We called the clubhouse on the 9th tee to complain. As we were approaching the 9th green someone was waiting for us and said they talked to the group in front and without hesitation offered to switch us to the back 9 of mountain that was wide open. The attitude was the customer is always right and what can we do to make you guys happy. With the lack of true customer service becoming the norm in our society, it so refreshing to know that RR is here, this is just the most recent example. I will continue to play here even though i loose a ton of golf balls when i play as nothing comes close to the welcoming feeling you get at RR.

Played the front nine yesterday afternoon with tonybarrett, Fear, and Al (from the Los Angeles Golf Group on Meetup.com). Windy conditions made the day a little tougher. The course is recovering nicely from their fall maintenance: aerification and overseeded fairways. The bermuda rough was still green and was thick in some areas, but cut tight in others. It was cart path only, which left the fairways in great shape except for the unfilled divots. Greens were medium fast and soft. You could see it was punched weeks ago, but the roll was good. Great customer service when we were offered to go to the Mountain back nine after having to wait on most of our shots due to the slow group ahead of us. We took up that offer and the mountain course was in great shape as well.

Been playing this course since it opened. There are 2 courses here and the Valley, in my opinion is the better test.

From the minute the cart crew brings your cart to your car until you finish, Robinson Ranch makes you unserstand that your not at your local Muni.

I generally play Friday's with a good friend of mine and we play from the "Black" Tee's and @ 7000 yards it's a stout test. I have read, people complaining about the rough and balls running through the fairways etc. It takes a couple of rounds to understand the nuances of Robinson Ranch.

The farways and greens are nice, with a few burned spots in the fairway. I have spent the last 2 years in Turkey and with recession, it's taking it's toll on a lot of courses including the Ranch. The course is one that makes you think and you play every club in your bag. Plus it's a different course from every set of tee's. Penalizes you for a bad shot as all good courses should do.

Holes 13 thru 17 are known as DeathValley. The 13th is a 596 yard par 5, trapped and treed on both sides but a drive and a good second shot leaves you wedge to the green and a potential par.

The 14th is a 236 yrd par 3. The prevailing wind is from left to right and you have to stand on your tee shot. Two tiered green. Par is tough to get.

The 15th is a dogleg left to another 2 tiered green. You really have to smoke one off the tee to put it in the middle of the fairway and the greens is well trapped. Trees and "Clag" as my English friend calls it line the fairway. Good hole.

16 can be attacked either using a driver or three wood off the tee, the prevailing wind is in your face, the green is long and narrow, sloping from back to front and don't be long or right as water and traps line the green. Par is a good score here.

17 is my favorite hole. Big sweeping dogleg left and the tee shot is through a copse of Live Oaks. Need to smoke one with a slight draw, 2nd shot to a 2 tiered green.

Robinson Ranch Valley Course is as good a track as you'll find. The staff is outstanding and they have Stella Artois on tap and that my friends is as good as it get's!!

Got out today shortly after 7:00. Course is holding up extremely well given the extreme heat over the last two weeks. Lush boxes and fairways and typical RR greens rolling true. Great customer service. Best deal around using the Costco "live golf" discount which gives you a $45 round.

Played today 7:00, second out behind a 2 ball. It was like having the course all alone because we were a 4 ball and we never saw the 2 ball and the 4 ball behind us was at least two to three holes behind. The course is just in the best shape (greens, bunkers and fairways) and fun to play and I love standing on the T on number 18. We played in under 4 hrs., the way golf should be played.

10am start time,I expected a smoker turned out the heat was not a factor, sure it was hot & humid but not too bad. The heat did cause the grounds crew to keep the greens kind of damp,this did not slow them down but they were somewhat more reseptive to a well struck iron.
The greens were just about perfect.
Fairways the same.
My only complaint is, I think the tee markers could have been placed in more flat areas on a number holes.
This course is a gem. Always fun and challenging. Service is top notch.

Played The Valley Saturday 6/23. As a regular at the LA Muni courses, I'll say that it was amazing to basically not see another golfer out there on a weekend. Once our foursome made the turn, we never saw anyone in front of or behind us. Went off at a 3:24 tee time but they got us out about 20 minutes early. Played in under 4 hours. For a $50 GolfNow deal, you really can't beat it. For your fee, your cart and warm up fees are included.

I've played here twice before - both in the winter. When you play there in that part of the year, the rough is dormant. In the summer I was surprised that the rough was so thin and inconsistent. Not that I need ankle high rough, but with the fairways almost always kicking balls into the rough, you really need that good second cut to keep your ball out of the desert. I lost my share of balls as a result.

The course is really fun overall. No two holes go in the same direction and you really need to plot out the holes from the tee shot onward. You only really need driver on 4-5 holes from the blues (probably 5-6 from the blacks). I suppose you could hit 10-12 drivers but you're bringing a lot more peril into play to have Sand Wedges into greens instead of 9 irons.

Had a great experience overall. Tee boxes mostly in great shape. Fairways are spectacular and the greens rolled true. The rough was my only hangup. We're probably playing the Mountain next weekend.

This course is in good shape from tee to green. Lush conditions, except for the usual places, such as most of the rough. Lots of divots (mostly sanded in) on 8 and 10 fairways; short par fours where most of the tee shots end up. Sand is okay around the greens: light and medium density, but could use more. Fairway bunkers are just plain dirt or hard-packed clay. I have been told this is to make it easy to reach the greens if you hit a tee shot in there. I don't know. The fairway bunkers are dirt, they have been as long as I can remember, and probably will always be. It's still a great course and customer service is really good.

Played here back on 5/4 with the GK outing. The course was in pretty fantastic condition, and the weather that day was perfect. The course is difficult. If you're a hack like me, prepare to lose a few balls. The staff was friendly and attentive, sometimes overly so. That night, they had a great drink and appetizer specials in the club house, and the view alone is worth having a drink after your round. It'd be tough for me to pay the rack rate, but if you find a good deal, I'd jump at the chance to play again.
