Course is in fair shape.

The main gripe I would have is the rough - rare that you get someone complaining that there isn't enough of it, but that's the case here. The course is designed to allow the rough to help keep the ball in play in some spots. At the moment, it's pretty much non-existent around the fairways with the result being some good shots get penalized as the ball rolls all the way through to the real cabbage (which around here is an automatic lost ball).
It's very thin with a number of different growths sprouting here and there (thicker around the greens).

Greens are decent but lots of Poa and a bit nappy for my taste. fairways nice and lush. Tee boxes - many are crowned and need leveled.

Greens and fairways are the best parts of the course. Lush conditions if you can keep it in the fairway and on the greens. Greens rolled medium fast. Sand traps around greens are much improved over the last couple of times out. The bermuda rough is continuing to green up and is fairly thick in some spots, while in others it is still really tight. Some of the tee boxes are a little uneven, but not real bad. Pace of play was great at just over 4 hours and, as always, customer service was stellar.

Played again last Friday in a work event, a week after the GK event. Green speed has picked up a little bit; medium fast and rolling true. Fairways are lush and the rough is continuing to green up from its winter dormancy. There is good quality sand in the greenside bunkers, but the felt liner is showing in some indicating the need for more sand. The fairway bunkers are really just hard packed soil with small rocks. Tee boxes were lush; a little uneven in spots but not terrible by any means. As always, staff is attentive and really make you feel like you are at a private club. They were grilling some burgers and had some decent home made potato chips as well; I recommend the chips. The course continues to offer a good value, especially if you sign up for e-mails.

I played in the GK event on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Robinson Ranch (Valley) under blue skies and mid 70 temperatures with a slight breeze that picked up on the back nine. I am always impressed with the staff at this golf course being attentive from arrival to departure. The course is in great shape with lush fairways and tee boxes, good sand in the greenside bunkers, and greens that are in great condition with few ball marks. Only the fairway bunkers needed attention as they were a little bare. This course is always challenging and visually exciting with its elevated tees providing panoramic views of the valley. JohnnyGK and TheBigDog put on another great outing and their efforts are greatly appreciated! I just wish I could find my game…..I know it’s around here somewhere! LOL!

I played in the recent GK event on 5/4. I was met in the parking lot by a cart attendant who took my clubs to my cart. Immediately I could tell this was a nice course. I met JohnnyGK at the entry table to sign in. I actually used the hotdog for a couple of putts....came up a lil short. I thought the putting green was nice and a good representation of the greens on the course. I played with kpossibly, Greer and JohnnyGK. Thanks guys for making me feel comfortable and welcomed. I really had a good time. This is not a grip it and rip it type course. Although I did rip it both left and right....lesson learned (maybe). Course knowledge is helpful here. This is a very challenging course. The tee boxes were lush and level. There were some really good views from some of the elevated tee boxes. A few holes had big trees in the middle of the fairways which could case trouble. The fairways were well kept and when in them I had good lies. The greenside bunkers I was in were pretty good. The fairway bunkers were a lil hard but that suits me fine. The greens were very good I thought . I putted pretty good on them. They were firm and had no ball marks on them. I was impressed to see attendant cleaning clubs while we putted out on the 18th green. Nice touch!! The clubhouse was nice with the balcony overlooking the 9th and 18th holes. I got to meet a few more Gkers with this being my second event. Thanks JohnnyGK, TheBigDog and Robinson Ranch for putting on a great outing.

Played the Valley course on Friday 5/4 at the GK event. I love this course. The overall conditions are quite good. The fairways are firm. But that's how this course is designed to play. Tee boxes are lush, but some areas were uneven. I was in two sand traps greenside. The sand is consistently nice. The greens were somewhat fast and rolled well. If you compare this course to Angeles National, which is far more expensive, it trumps it by far.

I played in last week's Greenskeeper outing. As a regular at this course, I can attest to the fact that this is one of the better courses in Los Angeles county at the rate we payed. It was not perfect or pristine, but definitely in way better than average condition. I play all over and for the price (there are numerous e-mail specials--sign up), this course has the most bang for the buck. Top notch service and consistently great conditions. Sure, it's challenging. That's the fun part. Just be smart about it and you could score low.

Played Robinson Ranch Valley Course Friday in a GK Event…that I also ran with much help from TheBigDog. It was super seeing a lot of my GK friends and meeting many first timers to our outings - THANK YOU to everyone that came. This was the 3rd event we have done at Robinson Ranch and as always I’m always impressed with their service and facilities. Their upstairs patio overlooking the 18th and 9th holes is still, bar none, the most relaxing post golf setup I've experienced. Of course the 50% off appetizer and beer special made it even more comfortable.

As far as the course, well, I knew it was not going to be an easy track going in being the slope rating is 135 and there is a six hole stretch on the back nine called “Death Row”. Sure enough the course was a bear. Personally I played very conservatively so I did not feel it's teeth much but overall, many of the participants came off pretty beat up. Overall, I hope the players did appreciate how interesting of golf course it is combined with beautiful scenery as opposed to becoming a hostage to their scorecard. The conditions of the course were very good where it mattered most, fairways and greens. I had excellent lies all day in the fairways and on the greens I found them to be mostly smooth, holding shots and moderately fast. I think if we waited a week longer they would have been even more firm and smooth because they looked as if the minor bumps were the result of the aeration about 5 weeks ago. As far as the tee boxes, they were in great shape. Well groomed and level. My only complaint as some have noted already were the fairway bunkers. Most were very firm and others even had small rocks scattered throughout. Overall I think the conditions at Robinson Ranch were very good and expect them to improve leading into summer.

This is a great course to have an event at and I recommend it to other tournament directors. Just keep in mind it’s very difficult and to do your pairings correctly with the better players in the forward groups and people on the appropriate tees.

And like the previous post played with a great group of guys. Had fun for sure. Yes and there was witness to a 150 yard dunk for eagle on a par 5, a 351 yard long drive w/ a three wood and putting clinic - those guys are good.

I will say there where a lot of laughs in our group. Now to the golf

Stepped on the first tee box and the grass is in great shape. Tee boxes were flat in many areas with only a couple that were slightly off. Fairways were trimmed and rolled very well, greens rolled true but, maybe a little slow, especially uphill. Greens are a little tricky, but what you see is the actual break.
The club house service is always awesome and the food is good. The smaller shop for a quick grab has gone up in price since my last visit but the homemade chips are cool and good.

The course is visually hard to determine where to place your tee shot, but with a couple of plays you'll be able to stripe the fairway with ease. It is a must play if you want to test your game.
