1/2 Greens also punched. Played here Monday. Left after 14. Pace was slow for here but it was Columbus Day so I expected a slower than normal round. Greens OK. They rolled slow and bumpy. Greens as you got deeper into the course started to roll out a little better. Speed from green to green varied considerably. Fairways OK. Bunkers well stocked with sand. Tees were flatish.

It's a fun course. Great for longer hitters it's a good mix of par 3s and 4s with a really fun part 5 on the back. Will be coming back when conditions improve -- like Los Verdes I am beginning to think the grass on the greens are cooler weather grass so conditions will improve once the heat wave leaves LA.

Played on 2-16-15 (Presidents' Day), with a tee time of 9:20. POP was about 4:10, and our fivesome didn't have to wait at any tee boxes. Conditions were good: pretty fast greens, lush fairways, even tee boxes, and playable sand. The course obviously is a shorter one, with not many hazards or OB areas but it is conducive to a relaxing round where you can work on your par 3 game, chipping, etc. For $30 (walking), the price is reasonable too. No major complaints at all and but for the drive, I'd like to play more often.

Decided to play here mid-morning once the winds died down. I saw a lot of open tee times on GN, so I just took my chances as a walk-up. Sent right out to the first tee around 9:00 to join a twosome and we were then joined with another single. It was relatively busy, but not too bad from what I hear about Westchester, so we finished in about 3:45. $30.50 walking rate felt quite steep, but that's what I paid.

The course was in pretty decent shape. The greens were very nice. Other than too many unrepaired marks, the surfaces were soft and rolling smooth at medium speeds. A lot of the back tee boxes were closed off, so the blues were playing up on several holes. Otherwise, the teeing areas we played from weren't too beat up. The fairways were decent enough. Rough not much of a factor as it's cut pretty low. I wasn't in a bunker, so no comments there.

Okay executive course. About what I expected. Pretty basic and forgiving layout with good green complexes and solid conditioning. I've been avoiding this one for awhile because I know how slow and crowded it can be, so I am glad to finally check it off the short course list!

Fridays are considered weekend so rate will be higher. Paid $30.50 to walk 18. Pace of play was not slow just slower to what I am used. That being said it was crowded and considering the day of the week and the holiday the pace was to be expected.

Greens in decent shape. Loads of ball marks so once again fellow GKers I realize I am preaching to the choir but FIX YOUR DIVOTS! Greens were receptive. Fairways had good coverage. Bunkers were a mix bag of packed sand and fluffy. Tee Boxes were relatively flat. Rough was thick but not penalizing.

Overall considering the colder weather conditions are OK. Play here again? Sure just during the week; not the weekend.

A quick 18 for a Monday mid-morning. Little wind at this time except for occasional breeze from the coast. Great day for golf!

Tee boxes for 1 and 13 are under construction. You will play a shorter hole but it's all for the best once they reopen the tee boxes. Greens in good shape. They hold shots well and roll fairly true. Folks need to fix their divots. Have noticed the greens on 15, 16, and 17 almost match the other greens in speed and response so it's nice to know that the course plays consistently. Tee boxes other than those mentioned above are flat and rotated well by staff.

Fairways are in good shape. Rough is thickish and tend to allow the ball to sink. Sand in bunkers for the one I was in for the day was fluffy white sand (hole 16).

It was a fun day. The clientele is pretty casual here. I noticed quite a few characters especially with the ones I played with today. When I walked on they accommodated me relatively quickly. Pace of play around 3 1/2 hours. Twosomes do have a habit of joining the groups ahead to speed play which is nice.

Will come here again especially when tee boxes on 1 and 13 are opened. Course overall is in good shape.

Played Sat at 9:15am and the course, as expected, was very crowded. First thing is be advised there's some heavy tee box work going on at 1, 12, 13 and I believe 18 - I'm talking big, noisy tractors here. Means short holes are even shorter. Greens were pretty poor I must admit - lots of sandy areas, ball marks and just dead areas. Fairways have been better but nothing unplayable. Tee boxes can be hit or miss. Rough and sand traps both in good condition - maybe best sand I've seen here in a while. Front desk guys are very cool and accommodating. The POP was quite slow on the front 9 but normal on the back - finished at around 2pm. Overall Wetchester has seen better days but for $30 on a weekend it's still worth it. Just don't let the noise bother you ...

Played today. Teed off around 4:30 and finished before 6:30 for 18 holes. Played as a single playing catch up to a quick moving twosome ahead. Caught them on any number of occasions but they ignored me and I suppose did not want me to join their group. No matter. Finished round in record time.

Greens in really bad shape here. Still recovering but there are quite a few bald areas from what I am guessing -- hungry geese. They already tore up several tee boxes which had all tees playing forward. You could tell they are trying to get the rest of the tee boxes to grow back but the area where they currently have their tees are beat up considerably. Loads of wet spots on course so mind your footing. Fairways are in decent shape. Rough is thickish with some bald areas. Bunkers look OK -- didn't hit one this whole outing.

I would wait a few more weeks. Greens should recover by then -- hopefully. And folks Fix YOUR DARN DIVOTS!!!! I swear I patted down more than 3 a green.

Got Monday off from work so decided to hit Westchester for $23.50. Conditions are mostly good, but there were some sand layers on a few of the greens. But again, for all the traffic this place gets, it's in good shape overall. Also helped that I got my new best score today - 75.

POP was great at just under 3 hours - midweek golf rules. No, you won't see a PGA event here anytime soon, but for some good short work at a good price, still tough to beat.
