Played around 11:30am today. Course was crowded. Thanks to the five-some around 6 groups ahead of us for slowing everything down to a snail's pace. Hats off to the marshal that parked himself around 5 holes he had the gumption to drive up to that five-some and tell them to pick up the pace.

Greens are OK. Loads of debris from little stones to grass thatch litter the greens. They rolled pretty fast and it didn't help to have a lot of stuff just in your path. Ball speed is pretty consistent here on the greens so at least you have that going for you. Just pick a path and hope for the best. Fairways are thin but very playable. Loads of coverage but it is thin in places. Just not penalizing in my opinion. Rough is thick but playable. Sand in bunkers is pretty good just be mindful some bunkers have a thin layer of sand. Pay attention to the bunker consistency and you will know what to do. (In the case of the thin layer of sand just hit down). Tee boxes are fairly flat and well maintained.

Aside from the pace of play (POP), I did enjoy my round. After a while removing every little piece of debris was just a chore so I just skipped that and concentrated on getting the ball into the cup which did wonders for my putting.

Now would I play here again? Yes but only if the POP improves and the days getting longer. I mean you start at 11:30 and it's already getting dark around 4:30. What is a poor golfer to do?

Played here last week before rains. Greens at the time rolled fairly quick and true. Pace of play was a sizzling 3 1/2 hours for 18 holes. Mind you this is an executive course but I really enjoy playing holes 15-18 especially if the wind kicks up. Certain holes play a lot longer into the wind and temperature drops make playing these series of holes fun. Conditions here are pretty good considering they are the only game on this side of town. Pace of play is quick and you can get in 18 without feeling you wasted the whole day.

Staff here are attentive. POP is quick. Price is a little on the high side for an executive course but with the other benefits I suppose you could argue it's price is justified. Would be nice to see a little price reduction so I could include this course more regularly.

Question is would I play here again? Of course 3 1/2 hours for a round? ... are you cracked?... Folks kill for that Pace of play (POP).

I had not played Westchester since moving to the east side of town almost six years ago, and had never seen the upgrade from 15 to 18 hole configuration. Needing to retrieve my wife from LAX early Saturday evening, I decided to beat the later afternoon traffic and head over early, get in some golf and be poised for the pickup. Arrived around 3:15 and got on second up, joining a twosome who were good company. The course was busy but, overall, I would say it moved well under the circumstances. There was some waiting on most of the holes, but not much. In reverse order, the greens were, in most cases, recovering from being half punched. Sometimes you are playing across punched and non-punched sections. The punched sections, while far from recovered, were still playable and the greens in general tended towards the hard, quick side. I can see that, when fully healed, these greens would be pretty nice—fairly quick and challenging despite the traffic it gets here. They remind me of the greens on Brookside #2. I was in two bunkers and they were in good shape with the sand a tad more on the heavy vs. fluffy side. Rough was a mixed bag but a fair challenge on average around the greens while less of an issue and relatively short just off the fairways. Reflective of the traffic, the fairways were a bit chewed up at times, but mostly provided a nice grass surface for ball striking. Same could be said for the tee boxes and I recall them as being pretty level. Most of the course was as I remembered it, except the 14th hole was reduced from a par four to a three, after which the new holes (15, 16, 17) were inserted, with the old 15th now the finishing 18th hole. I have to say that I really like the new holes in design and quality. While the 15th is a nice (and only) par 5, the three previous holes leading up to it are par 3s, two of which are the tightest on the course, so arriving in the 15th tee box is like suddenly opening a window and being able to stretch out. It leads off a nice finishing run to the course. Overall, the course is a tight, busy executive that fills that niche for getting a golf fix when circumstances preclude other, more conventional choices. The course is lit and evening play is an option, and we actually finished under the lights. Even though the course was busy, we finished under four hours. Would I go out of my way to play here, much less drive across town to do it? No. But I definitely enjoyed it for what it was and as a change of pace. If I have airport-related business to take care of in the future, and the schedule fits with getting out at Westchester, I will definitely keep it in mind as the perfect time-killer. It's less than 5 minutes from the course parking lot to the airport terminals. I putt out on the 18th at about 7:10 and my wife was due to land at 7:15. She called to tell me she landed as I was in the car changing my shoes. Puuurrfect.

Played yesterday $11.50 on Golfzing ($14 after the fees). Greens still in good shape. Fairways also in good shape. Rough is OK but patchy in places. Bunkers are thin and hard packed. Tee boxes are rotated well. This is an executive course with 18 holes 7 par 4s and 1 par 5 with the rest par 3s. Finished in under 3 hours and that was behind what we thought was a slow threesome (we were a twosome.) Get a cart and pay $12/rider.

I enjoy this course. It plays fast and given my tight time constraints fits the bill and satisfies my golf fix. Course conditions I would rate as very playable. Greens are fun to put and run faster than they look. Greens for shorter holes are on the larger side so missing is not really a problem.

$24 after 1pm on a Friday and still manage to finish in around 3 hours? Are you kidding me? Nope. I am not. We played as a twosome sandwiched in between two foursomes. They may have played slow but the group behind us slower so it wasn't like we were holding anyone up.

Greens rolled true. Sand in most of the bunkers are thin towards the bottom and fluffy/packed around the sides. Green complexes are pretty lush with definition between the first cut and rough. Folks fix your divots. It gets old after a while -- fixing other folks divots. Tee boxes are flat and well rotated. Pace of play was a blistering 3 hours. No complaints. Cart gal was running circuits every 10-30 minutes which was nice on such a hot day.

This course has become a personal favorite since I can get out relatively quickly and finish a roundin under 4 hours. The course presents a decent challenge. You try to make par when most of the holes are par 3s. It's no easy feat.

Current conditions? Better than Harbor Park for sure and you get 18 holes for the bargain. Greens soft and receptive. Putts will hold their line. area around greens are lush. Overall the green complexes are in good shape. Fairways are a little in the thin side for some holes but they maintain them and I expect conditions here to improve. Sand in bunkers good. Tee boxes are flat. Not a bad course to play and walk.

For the price this is a great deal with an enjoyable staff as well. I have played here a couple hundred times. The course is well maintained with true putting greens. It's a shorter layout with a few drivable holes and a par 5. Many holes are a challenge for birds and pars.
The course protects itself with elevated greens and a normally steady breeze from the west which requires clubing up 1 or 2 into the wind.

Played early AM Saturday. They turn on the lights for pre-sunrise golfers which IMHO a great thing. We arrived at 530am and got out as a twosome. Lights do turn off around 6AM. Greens in good shape. They roll pretty true a little bouncy but typically you get a good roll from a well struck putt. Around the greens is lush. Rough is thick and sticky. Fairways in good shape. Tee boxes are flat considering most of them are Par 3s. Pace of play was fast. Case in point the foursome in front of us easily kept pace with us just a twosome. Finished in under 4 hours (actually 3 hours for all 18 holes). Plenty of time to get home and cook breakfast for the kiddos. Even surprised the wife when I showed up at home so quickly I was able to score brownie points there. Course conditions are pretty good in my opinion and the challenge is your typical muni. Not a lot of trouble and easy to recover from errant shots.

Good confidence building course. If you can play around the sound of landing jet planes. If you are a true golfer you wouldn't blame those sort of things and only the golfer for operator error. Because if your mechanics are sound then at least you can play a decent round.

Here we go! Played an early 18 before work on Thursday with Goldenbear1979. I had an arterial motive. This course is an executive and has many par threes and would give me a chance to work on my Irons. I have made a radical change in my equipment. Traded in my AP2's for Adams A4's forged Irons, 5-S, DG SL R300. Yes..Regular flex. Well, I had chances for birdies most of the day but only made one. No. 3 playing 177, no wind 5 iron to the green! The course can get crowded quickly so be prepared for a slow round. The fairways were in great condition and the greens were fast and true..in great shape. Good place to practice your short game as you can T off with Driver to Hybrid depending on what you want to work on. They have a very nice practice putting green but the best newest thing is their Driving Range!! Brand new and very nice. The Titleist Ball fitting guys were there the day we played and were great to talk to and you can really learn something about golf balls! Over all a nice round of golf and a challenging new 15 par 5! Ps...They also have night golf!
