We played the course a few weeks ago and the greens were top-dressed. Balls rolled pretty well for the most part. Rough was cut rather generously so you dont lose balls, which is a good thing. They did not have a driving range but only hitting cages. Staff was friendly and helpful. Loved the course! Overall a fun experience and highly recommended.

(except there was mainatainence on every hole - rather distracting, but that's typical when you tee off so early) Staff was fantastic - very accomodating. Lots of nice holes on this course, plus a number of "birdie" holes.

Played here for Thursday Team play on January 26. The heavy rains severly damaged most of the bunkers. Only a few have been repaired. Most had to be played as GUR and the ball removed from the bunker.... Continue »

Played here for Thursday Team play on January 26. The heavy rains severly damaged most of the bunkers. Only a few have been repaired. Most had to be played as GUR and the ball removed from the bunker. Other than that the course was in excellent condition and the staff very helpful. There is no driving range only a "warmup area", meaning hitting off mats into netting. There is an excellent short game practice area with a large bunker (not rain damaged.) The course does not play long but is relative tight so accuracy is important. This is a private course that is open for public play on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Previous reviews are accurate: nice Nicklaus track open to the public Mon-Thur. We caught an email $45 twlight rate, played in 4.5 hrs. on a gorgeous afternoon. Greens were lightly sanded but still medium fast with a great feel. Fairways and bunkers are top shelf. Rough up a bit so accuracy is a must ... two higher hcp'ers in our group were spittin' cotton on the back nine as there were several holes that were 'cart path only'. We hung out at the new club house afterword, fantastic day. Resonable private offering for those OC folk who may be interested, check it out. We'll be back again for sure.

Played 6/20/10 for Senior (age 55) rate of $55. The conditions were excellent and so was the pace of play. While there are plenty of distance markers, the uphill and downhill approach shots require ... Continue »

Played 6/20/10 for Senior (age 55) rate of $55. The conditions were excellent and so was the pace of play. While there are plenty of distance markers, the uphill and downhill approach shots require some course knowledge as to how much club to add or subtract. The first 3 holes are rather short and easy and you need to post a solid front nine score as the back plays to a par 37. Some fine par 4's, including number 8 and 17. Number 18 is a fine finishing hole, but beware of water both right and left on the tee shot. Find the fairway and you still need to determine your layup spot.

This course is to eventually go private once all memberships are sold --- they have a reported 25 to go. So take advantage and play this fine OC course while you can.

Played twilight in the late afternoon on Wednesday, 6/9/10, on a warm sunny day that got cooler when June gloom descended on south Orange County. Pro shop let me jump out ahead of a couple's tourney to the 11th tee, and I breezed from there. This course was built as a resort course by Nicklaus Design - 27 holes shoehorned onto the side of a hill, waiting for a hotel. Then during the housing boom a few years ago it changed hands and the new owners bulldozed 9 holes and built a bunch of homes, many of which now stand vacant. I wonder what Jack thought about that. Couse is now semi-private, with members but allowing public play Monday-Thursday. Nice views of southern Orange County communities and mountains from throughout the course, esp. on the back nine.

Overall course was in lush condition with good fairways, lush high rough, good sand. Greens were very different on the two sides - recently rolled and sanded on the front, so greens were dry, firm, and fast, and softer, more receptive, lush and slower on the back. The entire course is built on the side of sloping hills, so all parts of the course are challenging for slopes, sidehill/uphill/downhill lies, etc. Not overly long due to site restrictions (back tees <6600 yards), so Jack defended his course with undulating greens, holes draped across the sides of hills, etc. Lush grass needed to keep shots from running off the fairways and into doom. Several forced carries and shots hit through restricted hitting lanes, especially from back tees. In the afternoon the wind is also a significant factor, as it's a crosswind on several holes. Carts were CPO on too many holes - maybe 6 or 7 total, and even when not CPO there a a few long hikes to get to greens from the cart path parking areas. No driving range, only nets to hit into. But 2 large putting greens and a large chipping/sand area for practice. Large attractive clubhouse, friendly staff. Recommended.

First time I've played here since it went private, and changed to 18 holes from 27. The condition of the course was fantastic. With a few of greens not quite up to rest of the course condition, the overall conditioning was great. Pace was slow as we followed "team play" They did a nice job with the new layout. The only issues I have is some of the greens seemed a bit too severe and the distance between some of the holes are not "walker friendly" as I'd like. (Cart included in the green fee, but I always walk when permitted) Overall, a very pleasant day, Great views, staff was nice and the weather cooperated.

Played Weds. and the course is in great shape. Greens were perfect and fast and the fairways tee boxes, and traps were in perfect shape as well. Well worth the money for this course.
