Typical Jack layout. Not enough land so use what you have to make a very very short very wide golf course and confuse everyone by having 4 different tee boxes. Your choice of tee box wont make any difference on your score since the greens are where the challenges sometime lie. This keeps it one step above an executive course by making unfair roller coaster greens. The greens by the way are hard to hold but need a good mow and roll because there just too slow.
The traps really need a deep machine raking because they are hard as a rock on the bottom where the night water sits. This makes it very easy to get the club on the ball when you land in a fairway bunker.
The tee boxes are loaded with divots. The grass seems dry on top but is muddy underneath the surface making it easy to hit fat shots. After waiting three years to play this course I was really dissapointent by the layout. You could play the course with about 7 clubs in your bag. From the back tees I only hit driver on 4 holes. The rolling terain adds to the difficulty but if you hit the right IRON off the tees you can eat this course up. I was shocked that there is still temporary clubhouse and pro shops. This must be due to the fact that they can't get enough people to pay the incredibly high green fees. What a shame.

This course was more interesting than I expected. It has nice water holes and lots of elevation changes. You can chip and run the ball near the green, but as with a Jack Nicklaus course, from the fairway a high iron shot works best. The greens are hard but they roll true. It is hard to take large divots in the fairway and hard to make big ball marks on the green. The grass is tough. Nice, but not long at all. I would not pay $95.

Greens are super hard almost too dry. Also are very hard to read. The elevation changes on this course are amazing. If you love greens surrounded by water and/or sand then you'll enjoy this course.... Continue »

I play Aliso frequently. The greens are in fabulous condition. They are some of the most challenging greens in Orange County. Putt well here and I believe you can putt well anywhere in the country. Fairways are well kept, open and pretty forgiving. Wait until the trees mature. Fairway and greenside bunkers could use more sand, but who wants to be in the traps anyway. Occassionally slow play on the weekends but the marshals are getting on top of it.
