June 2 Tee 12:03 2 ball. Easy pace on a classic Nicklaus design; as this is a semi private course, maintenance is as one would expect; solid. Fun front 9, fast fairways, greens hold moderately and roll well, sand good, tees and rough in great shape. Service is exceptional and F&B very good and also good value. Back 9 opened up and interesting. Get a deal and try it. Downside-no range,but hitting cages and chipping green.

This course makes up for occasional lack of length with extremely sloped greens that roll very fast. You must be in the right area of the green to have a chance to make a putt, and some areas are impossible to two putt from. Recent rains have toughened up the rough and some holes are death if you miss fairway. It's a fun challenging experience and highly recommended.

I played here on Wednesday, Nov. 19. Because we started 10 minutes late we had to finish in the dark. They overseeded earlier than most so the course was in good shape, unlike most of the courses I've played in the last two months. The greens were in great shape and fast, particularly on the new greens, which also do not hold at all. The back tees are not much more difficult than the blues, except for #15, which used to be a long par 4 and is now a short par 5. The tee shot there is ridiculously more difficult than any other hole. The group ahead of us was all over the place and slowed play be an easy five minutes. I think they should get rid of that tee box and turn it back into a long par 4. Overall, a good experience.

Aliso Viejo has over 300 members now. I think if they reach 400, they may close the door to public play.

I was not that impressed with the course or conditioning. Granted, they were overseeding so the fairway grass was long. The greens were intermediate in speed. The sand traps were very good. Not sure if its worth $55.00. The clubhouse was top shelf but the cart girl was not circling the course too fast.

Many of the holes looked too similar and at 6500 yards from the blacks, not much of a challenge for single handicap players when the wind stops blowing.

The course was in fine condition.

they aerefied the greens just a week ago..so they are still sandy and bumpy...they shouldn't be charging full green fees when the greens are like that!!! other than that...the course is in great shap... Continue »

Greens were medium soft and moist.Had a repair several ball divots on each green. Greens are med. fast with true roll ( after repairing the divots ). Fairways and tee boxes are in 8/10 shape.
** New greens keeper, so I hear the water adjusting is still going on for 18 holes and not 27 holes of need water.
*8 New club house will be finished in 2 or so weeks.

Well, I get to be the first reviewer since the course opened the full 18 holes last weekend. The course starts on #9 because it's by the old clubhouse. It'll switch back to starting at the old #1 when the new clubhouse opens. There's a total of four new holes, one of which was open when I played several months ago. The fairways of the new par fours are in good shape, like carpet. It seems that they speeded up the greens of the old holes to match the four new ones. As it is, the greens are very fast and roll true, but all of them look yellowish brown. Maybe they'll green up this summer. The bunkers seem to be in good shape and are generally consistent. Overall it's pretty much the same course that it was before the construction, minus 9 holes. They don't have the same low rates that they did during construction, but not a bad deal. One more thing. I always played from the tips before because the course was short, but they've lengthen a few of the holes and there are now some tough tee shots, particularly 6 and 7 (I think), both of which are close to 50 yards longer.

this place is a good deal at $44...granted they are renovating some holes, so right now you play 1-7, 1-18, and then 1 and 2 again for your 18....but still, it is a good deal

as for the course, it is not the longest course by any means at 6252 from the tips, but you gotta keep it straight...the deep rough here is maybe 6-8 inches thick, maybe more in some places...and bunkers are well placed, and there is trouble if you miss on a lot of holes

great conditions right now...most of the greens are in terrific shape...a couple have some poorly repaired ball marks, but otherwise they are fine...firm and on the fast side

right now, the fairways are not "lush" lush...not thin, but not lush...it would have helped if i could make good contact, too
