Best value in 2005? I don't know what they charged back then but it's far from a good value now. I must say the customer service was top notch from the bag boy to the starter. But the course is mediocre at best.

The fairways were extremely thin...it was like driving on concrete...great for tee shots to run forever but try hitting a 40 yard shot to a tight pin and getting it to stick. The greens were shaggy and definitely in need of a trim and roll. The layout is unique and course knowledge will reduce about 5 to 7 strokes.

We payed only 55 for a 12pm Saturday time. Pace of play was a nice 4.5. It's hard to come back when Talega isn't too and IMHO a much better layout.

Played twilight with GKer zachary on Wednesday afternoon, 6/1/11, on a warm sunny day with a steady southwest breeze. Course was in very good condition throughout - firm, tight fairways that gave a lot of roll; medium fast greens that rolled well without too many ballmarks; consistent sand in bunkers, although most were pretty damp even in the afternoon; dry wispy rough that wasn't too penal. Tee boxes good, plenty of water available, saw cart girl 2-3 times, consistent pace of 4.5 hrs. Most holes surrounded by thick vegetation or environmental areas where you can quickly lose balls, and firm fairways increase the chance that a good shot will bound farther than expected and get in trouble. Previous posters complained about 'thin' fairways - I think this is just the type of grass used here, which generally grows in a thin mat and doesn't get bushy. However, we always had good, somewhat tight lies throughout the course, and the ball always sat up well, so no complaints. Recommended.

Those of you who haven't played with zachary have missed a good time - the guy travels with a case of wine in his golf bag!

The rest of the course was in better shape than when I played here in December. Greens were a bit slower than I remember them being?? Staff was as usual - excellent! Always enjot playing this track. Lots of fun holes.

First off - service is top notch! From the Pro shop, to the starter, to food services - all top notch.

I've played this course a few times in the past couple months - whether now or before the rains really started, the fairways have been REALLY thinly cut to the point where the grass is almost there just for color. Lots of divots that need to be tended to. Noticeable wet spots that are getting too much water and not drained/dried well enough. The greens usually roll true, but when I played on 03/28 - I think they're just letting it go until they start aeration next week.

However - Arroyo is one of the few courses in southern OC that offers such a picturesque view of the rolling hills, that's unobstructed by homes. It makes you feel like they carved out this land and has kept civilization out of the way.

I would LIKE the fairways to get a little more TLC - I think only then, you'd get more value for the money.

Alot of ground under repair and huge ponds of mud in front of some of the tee boxes. Fairway grass thin to non-existant, I don't think they overseeded. Don't play here until they get the course back into some kind of decent playing shape.

Played at 8:15 this morning. Weather was perfect. Greens wre slow but realatively smooth. All bunkers were played as ground under repair. Very disappointed in staff that they charged full price. #14 and #15 had the most damage in the fairways. They should make #15 a par 3 and save some damage to the course. 2 big slides blocked the cart path and the runoff went into the fairways. Some other standing water around but for those two holes and the bunkers not bad.

Good players will enjoy the tight lies, higher handicap players will struggle I suspect. Greens and bunkers were very nice. Tee boxes are in the process of being overseeded, so many are very thin (bare). I always enjot playing here. The staff is great and there are a number of really fun shot holes.

Had a chance to play this track for the first time last Sunday with a couple of great golfers. For those that have never played here, Arroyo Trabuco is conveniently located off of the I-5 in Mission Viejo. It took about an hour to get there from the Diamond Bar area. This is a semi-private course and worth checking out. They have a nice pro shop, good coffee shop, carts with GPS, an all-grass driving range, a club repair/builder onsite and great service!

We payed $68.00 for a round which was kind of steep IMO. Service was good from the start. I was making my way from the driving range to the starter when one of the workers asked if I was playing and he grabbed my bag for me and loaded it onto the cart while I paid the green fees. I thought this was kind of cool.

This is not the longest track I played but, it was one of the harder ones. The great thing about this track is that it wasn't built around any homes. The fairways are pretty narrow and there is plenty of holes with undulating fairways. Pin location on some holes were very questionable making scoring very hard. There is quite a few holes with elevation changes, greens with false fronts and some with wide open fairways.

If you play this track for the first time, I recommend you bring a few sleeves of balls. Long hitters beware! No need to smash the driver here because chances are you will lose your ball - even if you hit it straight!

Overall, I had a challenging day. My two other buddies did very well shooting under 80. The pace started to get slow when we caught up to a twosome that was spraying shots left and right and taking too much time looking for their ball. They didn't even think to wave the group in front of them. This is what I think most golfers hate the most! It definitely affects the tempo and overall mood!

Give this place a shot - at least once. Golfers on a budget beware! There are plenty of other tracks that will offer you just as much challenge while staying in the "under 50.00" range.

Staff is great - allow me to get off a first light and zip around in under two hours. Lots of birdie opportunities, which is always fun. Views and absence of houses is a real plus!
