I played this course on 4/30 because of the Roger Dunn Birdie Card. The cart fee is $30 which makes this less than a great offer.

The course conditions were fair. The fairways are under repair because they are in the process of changing them to kukulya so there are large patches where they took out the nice grass and replaced it with kukulya. Since kukulya spreads like a weed, I'm sure it will take over the place within a year or so. For now, it's patchy, with some of the nicer grass still around the greens in the fringe and surrounding areas. The tee boxes were thin like everyone else is saying and the greens were pretty good, rolled true, too hard though and nothing to get excited about. Its a shame that this course is changing to kukulya, it will be like every other muni course out there but I understand that with the economy and water shortages that this is the way they have to go. I just won't pay what they're asking anymore to play this place. I'd rather drive a little and play nicer courses for less $. All in all I would rate my experience as a 5.0 out of 10. And, I used to have this as one of my favorites in the area. What a shame.

Played on their super bowl special where you pay the price of the score till the end of April - thank goodness it was 21-17 as I wouldn't recommend you pay a cent more for the conditions here. The new kikuya fairways are a joke and they're starting to invade the greens. Those are slow and bumpy and not tracking well at all. The tees have been punched and are paper thin.

Only upside was the sand which was excellent but then you're not supposed to play the game from there. No idea how they get anyone to pay their rack rates. I think the kikuya decision was a big bad idea. Plays about the same level or worse than an LA muni.

Played Sunday 4/1. Greens are still healing from 3/12 aeration. I'd say they will be in good shape by 4/15 or so. Fairways still a little spotty, and thin in areas. Important summer season coming up to see how well kikuya comes back. Bunkers in good shape, at least the few that I visited. Tee boxes a little thin, but not a major concern. Always great service, inside and out.

Played March 29th, 2012. Hmmmmm, where to start? The course itself was in so-so condition. The fairways were really shaggy, not cut tight as I would expect in a so called "high end daily fee track" ---weird grasses--maybe a couple of different grasses? Weird. Greens had been punched poorly in my opinion. I like the courses that punch with the smaller holes--these were big and made the greens play very slowly. We got off quickly and played in just under 5 hrs--average pace. Design was so so--a lot fairly straightforward holes--shoe horned into every spot where they couldn't build homes.
Post round we enjoyed burgers and beers on the veranda overlooking the 18th. Wait staff was HORRIBLE. We waited about 5 minutes to get a drink order another 10 to get them. We ordered burgers and it took literally 20-25 minutes to get our order. We never saw the waitress again! We had to go in and settle up bill with the bartender. Atrocious service--just pathetic really.
I give this course a MEH........not worth $80 something. Drive 20 minutes inland and play one of the Corona courses for half that price.

The greens have not yet totally healed from the recent punching, still a bit bumpy, but not too bad. The overall condition of the course was quite nice, with a few areas which need some attention. Staff was great - able to get out first and get around in about 2 hours.

Played this course one week ago. Greens are still recovering from punching but look to be on the way to healing already. Overall for the green fee it's worth it I think when it is pristine condition. I used my 2 for 1 special which helped out on the cost.
Customer service is always spot on and I enjoy the clubhouse and surrounding areas. The pace was decent even though it was busy and overall I enjoyed my time. I find that I hit a lot of 5 and 4 irons into the greens don't know why but it seemed like I was always 175 out all day!
With most courses it seems punching greens around this time it gets me excited for when they heal completely and get back to smooth and fast. Will return and look forward to returning. This course is a great break from the muni's I usually play where it feels like you are at a "club".

Played here on 3-31-12, and had a ball. Played with a good friend, who unfortunately had a shoulder injury but soldiered on. Really can't find anything wrong with the course today, except maybe that I couldn't buy a putt. LOL. The greens were aerated earlier this month and were still fast. The customer service, starter, and hospitality were excellent. My new 2nd favorite course.

I must start by saying I am giving this review based on my experience and that alone. As a whole my experience in a whole was very unpleasant I was aware of the aeration and don't usually mind. They where offering a discounted price but I had a 2-1 pass which made the round cheaper (Thankfully). The tee boxes where flat but very thin. the fairways where riddled with crabgrass besides around 16-18 greens crabgrass is what you got. Maybe I was just so excited to play this highly recommended course that I looked at it in a light it shouldn't have been. The worst part was the greens I don't normally mind aeration but there was so much sand left on the greens u could hardly see green I felt this should have been said and that I would have saved my 2-1 ticket for another time. All in all I fell disappointed and wouldn't recommend this course for the $ they are charging.
