I haven't played here for a few months, but played here tuesday. The course is in great shape. The tee boxes are in great condition and the fairways are too. The rough wasn't over-penalizing, it was really playable. The sand was good that I was in. The greens are very firm and extremely fast. They were some of the fastest greens that I have played on. The marshall told us that they were running at a 12 or 12.5. I believe it! I think I had 4 3-putts. If you don't play here a lot, good luck to you. Its a great course and I can't wait to get back.

Upon entering Black Gold's facility and stepping out of my vehicle under ample California sunshine, I knew all the elements were in place for a great day of golf. The gentlman in the Pro Shop was jovial and answered all my questions in an enthusiastic manner. Afterwards, I was off to the range, a standard all-mat practice area. Range balls were included with the green fee, a definite plus. I was paired with a threesome and sent to the tee on time, finishing in 4 3/4 hours. Black Gold provides a very challenging course for a player of my talent level. Tee shots must be extremely straight on all holes, as anything left or right spells trouble. Many of the holes provide varying countours and hills. The greens were running fast the day I played and it was rather difficult to get approach shots to stick due to the firmness. The course itself provides great views and has a nice range of challenging holes, with none categorized as easy. Two par 3 holes stretch to 200+ from the Blue tees. It is located in an ideal area for a golf course. I would recommend Black Gold to anyone looking for a challenge, although beginners should shy away from this course. Look for tee times online, as green fees are quite pricey at regular rates.

Played here a few years ago and the fairways pretty much stunk, with bare spots, divots and dirt all over the place. I said I wouldn't be back but I played Thanksgiving before visiting a relative and the fairways still stunk with a capitol S. They are still so bad you must play winter rules. Some of the worst I've seen and I play many courses. This place is NOT worth the money. Stay away!

Course wasn't in as good of shape as i expected to be. They just got a whole bunch of money from the city to work on the course and i expected to be better. The grass was great but there were still lots of bare spots. Greens were in great shape. The rough and fairways were very wet and it didnt appear to be from the rain. Played at 2:30 and finished at 5:05. the course was empty from the treat of rain. Finally a good pace of play.

First off Saturday morning at 6:15. Paired with another 2some. Played in exactly 4 hours. The group behind us was on 14 when we finished. 5+ hours for them.

First off Saturday morning at 6:15. Paired with another 2some. Played in exactly 4 hours. The group behind us was on 14 when we finished. 5+ hours for them.
Course was in good shape. Fairways were seeded and fertilized in spots. Some GUR near the 6th green that we had to take a drop from. The bunkers were the best I ever played out of. And I was in 5 or 6 of them. They have that nice fluffy crushed marble "Augusta White" sand. Ball came out very well each time.
Greens were fast compared to other courses I have played recently. But they rolled well and I really liked them. This course seems to struggle with grass in the fairways. Very playable course conditions. A little pricey on the weekends so make sure you check their website for the best rate.

I only payed 45$ due to the junior rate. fairways were 70-80% still parts recovering. but the greens were almost fully recovered. they rolled very fast and for the most part pretty smooth. In the morning the fairways and rough were SOAKING wet but by the back nine playing conditions improved as the course dryed up. i would give this course another month before it is back to usual conditions. pace of play was GREAT and service was awesome.

However, the price is a bit high for green fees, so unless you are a resident it may not be worth the money. If you don't tee off well bring a lot of balls with you...you will lose some.

played yesterday and the course looks good. they are working on some of the tee boxes so some blue tees were way up, and some were way back. the fairways looked good, and the rough was tough! number 8 is a par 3 with some nasty stuff down in front, its just some rugged rough. the greens looked really good, they held shots and rolled true. only 1 bunker had some hard sand, number 12 par 5, the big greenside bunker. besides that all the other sand was perfect that i was in. the course looks good, i look forward to getting back out there again.
