Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii! The course is under new management now and what an improvement now that American Golf is gone. One of the best layouts in southern california as far as I'm concerned. Perfect for advanced and average golfers. You would think givin the short yardage it would be an easy course but it's anything but. When I bring people here they always like it. It's also one of the quietest courses you'll play anywhere. A morning round here is a real treat.
Played here a few years ago and the fairways pretty much stunk, with bare spots, divots and dirt all over the place. I said I wouldn't be back but I played Thanksgiving before visiting a relative and the fairways still stunk with a capitol S. They are still so bad you must play winter rules. Some of the worst I've seen and I play many courses. This place is NOT worth the money. Stay away!
I played here when they first opened and thought they opened it too early because it was in poor condition. Came back a year later and it was still crappy. Played here yesterday 6-15-08 and the place looked like a cow pasture and I'm not joking. A great layout but the conditions are pitifull. I wouldn't recommend this course to my worse enemy.
The greens are just about healed from the punching but still play well right now. At the end of March these greens will be in tournament condition. They'll stay that way until the open because most people that play here can't hit them to make a mark, but if you do FIX THE BALL MARK!!!! It is CART PATH ONLY on the south course and the ruff is high and deep so if you have to walk acrossed the fairway to your ball in the ruff TAKE ANOTHER BALL WITH YOU SO WE DON'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Pete Dye design with alot of potential. The greens were in pretty good condition and very tough to score on. The rst of the course was pretty dingy though.
I play her alot since I live here so I want to give others an honest opinion of this course. They have had the same bad areas for 15 years and it never gets better. You will have to play winter rules in the fairways at just about any time of the year. This is one of the best layouts you'll find anywhere in so cal but the management will not raise the green fees to improve the conditions. I challange anyone to find a tougher 6500 yard course. The price is way too low and that's why the conditions are so so all the time (greens are OK). If another company would come in here and outbid American Golf for the lease and spend some money this would be a top 10 course in so cal. There is so much potential at this course it is sickening. The people that work here are good people but the Management Company is for crap and "American Golf" should say it all. It's worth the drive to experience this course and I encourage you to express your opinions to the course manager. All in all, this is a really cool course and if you agree to play winter rules in the fairways you'll really enjoy it.
Don't waste your money or time playing this over priced golf course. We played today 5/17/07 at 7am and waited to hit every single shot we had for 18 holes. We could see who was holding up the play a couple groups ahead but the marshal was more interested in pandering to the idiots than making them pick up their pace. I was only a couple over after 9 but the pace as the third ones off the course became so slow it blew my entire back nine and as I said the marshals are gutless. To be honest, the layout is nice but the greens are bumpy. The yardage on the course and the GPS were also off so you mis play shots. As a 4 hdcp and a former assistant I can tell a poor experience when I have it.
This about as close to a country club quality course as I've found in a so cal daily play course. The greens were nice but had quite a few un-repaired ball marks. The conditions and layout are pretty nice but the illegal aliens they have working there are morons and can ruin a round with their noise and complete ignorance of golf course etiquette. If you really want to enjoy this course you had better call them and make them promise that your time is when they have no maintenance crews on the course.
Played 2/23/07. The fairways were more like cart paths than grass. If you plan on playing here don't get your hopes up. The course has a few nice holes but overall is very so so. Green fees for this course are way out of line and not even nearly worth it. If you can snag a 2 for 1 coupon MAYBE you'll find it worth while. I didn't have much more than a short club for each approch since it seems like every hole measures 350 yards. Shot 75 with the flu from the black tees and didn't really find the course very challenging. If the green fees were around 50 bucks it would be worth it. I'd rate it a 6 out of 10.
Played again sunday 3-5-06 at 7am to avoid the slow play but thanks to the lame marshall we waited every hole, TERRIBLE PACE OF PLAY! When will they dump that loser of a marshall? Also, the greens were not as good and I found out that they lost their old greenskeeper to Strawberry farms. The conditions show it and I see the course heading downhill. Greens were bumpy and slower than they have been in 3 years. I tried to ask the greenskeeper some questions but he didnt speak english. Not lookin to good here.
I play here at least 3-4 times a year and can assure you that both these courses are better than any course you'll play in Vegas. I've played all the greats in Vegas and still havn't found one as good. If you go to vegas you need to play both of these courses. Primm Valley has some good stay and play packages too. Show up an hour early and take advantage of the practice areas that are super nice. Take your camera if you want some calendar style photos.
Great layout and very tuff from the tips. Since the greens are firm your ball will come to rest a long way from where it hit the green so GO BACK AND FIX YOUR BALLMARK! The greens are very fast but have alot of ball marks on them. For the record, my all time longest waiting round of golf was on this course. It seems that the staff/marshalls are more focused on pleasing people than making them play on pace.
