Played 6/22 at 9:40am as a twosome with my friend. Much better experience here compared to my last visit in early May, however some funny things happened. Check-in was straightforward and I loaded into a solo cart. The GPS units have been taken out of the carts. Perhaps they attract too many "touches" during COVID pandemic, so they were taken out? No mention of this in the pro-shop and the same $95 rate as a month ago. Social distancing in effect on the driving range leaves less hitting stalls available. While warming up, my range balls were swiped by a cart kid who was apparently picking up buckets while I was exchanging clubs at my nearby cart. I had to flag him down and he dumped out half my balls at the wrong range mat. The same starter from a month ago let the other two-some who was joining us, tee off in front of us and didn't tell them they were supposed to play with us. Tees are fine. Fairways have good coverage. There is definition between fairways and rough, but some rough areas are still thin. No rakes in bunkers, but sand is in good shape. Greens are in very good shape, rolling true and holding well struck shots. We saw the beverage cart twice on the back-9. Pace of play was slightly slower since we had to wait for the two-some in front of us (and we were sandwiched between foursomes).

Played Monday, 5/11 at 6:45am for the first time in almost 10 weeks since the pandemic started. Checking in with pro-shop and cart guys were straightforward and easy. Going straight to the 1st tee felt weird but I understand the range & putting greens are closed. The starter appeared to not know what's going on, but whatever. My foursome all rode our own carts. Let me say this right away, Black Gold is not worth $95 in it's current condition. I feel bad for people who pay more on weekends. Instead of normal pins, they use 12" tall wire flags which cannot be lasered from the fairway. The GPS system displayed the wrong hole location on every green on the front nine, so I stopped checking on the back side. All elevated greens or uphill approach shots require you to guess where the pin might be. Tees were level & had mostly good coverage. Fairways were mowed short and had very good coverage. Rough was absolutely terrible. Little or no definition from fairway, and numerous areas are dirt/pebbles. I realize bunkers have no rakes, so I was neutral on my ratings there. Greens are smooth, slightly slower than normal due to a fine layer of sand on the surface. I play here all the time since I live down the street, and I expected much more after the rain we had a couple weeks ago and due to the closer from the pandemic. I'm definitely waiting to return here until conditions improve, or they lower the rates (not likely). POP was 3:40 since my foursome had virtually no one in front of us.

Played here Friday 5/8. I can't imagine anyone is doing the restricted access process better than Black Gold. Absolutely flawless check in and start. Perfectly executed process. One player in proshop at a time, sign a social distance form and off you go. Arrived 20 minutes prior to tee time and aside from not being able to warm up on the range, you would not have known the restrictions were in place. Restrooms on course were available, no water stations or ball cleaners, but masks were not required on course. (Thank you). Option to ride solo or double, player's choice when I played. WELL DONE, Black Gold Staff ! Course conditions are equally positive. Clean tee boxes, smooth greens, green and lush fairways, and bunkers full of sand. Go to BG website for all local rules / adjustments. In summary: No full size pin flags, but excellent GPS on board cart to see pin location. Small 'utility flags' are visible in each hole. Cups inverted, so easy to retrieve ball, just below surface. No rakes in bunkers but free drop allowed. Pace of play was perfect, never waited, never pushed. On this day, show receipt and get $5 off the limited lunch menu. They had the grill fired up on patio, and we had a great burger and cold beer to finish the day. Only standing allowed on patio, but never saw more than 4 people together. What a great 'normal' day we had, that felt extraordinary on a beautiful warm May morning. ENJOY !

played here yesterday on a perfect day. Other than hole 17, i love the lay out. Landing areas are fair, water comes into play subtly, well placed bunkers, and a great variety of holes. The course is in very nice shape right now and usually is most of the time. Greens were great and difficult but fair and everything else was above par.............We tee off as a threesome at 7:15 and finished in just under 3.5 hours!! Now that's the way to play golf.... The customer service is always great and the best thing of all..........the senior rates were $58 pp. We will all be back soon. Highly recommended but please note that this is not a course you can walk.

Played today, course is in great shape, better than the Goose which I played on Saturday.

Tee boxes were lush and mostly lev. Fairways and greens were lush, looked like a green carpet. Greens eres quick, abt 11 on the stimp, a few ball marks, tricky as always. Bunkers had sand but on the thin side. Windy conditions, abt 5 mph with 15-20 mph gusts, my estimates.

Played early Sunday morning with a group of old friends. Small bucket at grass range included, check-in was easy and friendly. Course is in good condition right now with the greens running very quick. Tee boxes were level and had good coverage, fairways were not lush but you would always have a good lie. Not too much rough to speak of. I was in one bunker, seemed to have decent coverage. As previously mentioned greens are quick with a lot of slope. Had only a few up and downs as a result. Pop was just a bit over 4, people were probably preparing for their superbowl parties. Recommended.
