Out in the dark on a drizzly morning. Despite the weather, it was busy. Disappointed in conditions. While the back side was in much better than the front nine, the course was in the worst condition I've seen it. Greens were the best part of the course, but still not as good as I remember them being. Again, the back better than the front. The greens were however very receptive. Many bare spots in the fairways, and even the grass was thin and "stringy" - almost like a weed?

I enjoy this short coourse. I find it interesting, great green complexes and while short on length, it is long on character. I am confident that conditions will return to what I have come to expect from the two Costa Mesa courses.

Always look forward to playing Mesa Linda, as this shorter course provides such a fun challenge. The green complexes are so interesting with the combination of the slopes on the greens coupled with the bunkering. It's a good thing for me this course is shorter, because I cannot imagine trying to approach these greens from distance. For many years I kind of avoided this course because I thought that the short yardage would not provide very much interest. I could not have more wrong. Wish I had decided to try this course years earlier. It's just a fun track.

Conditions are good. Greens rolled well, not not as quick as I remembered them being. Fairways had nice coverage. Bunkers had sand, but not raked in many instances, but that's a quick fix. A number of the tee boxes on a few par 3 holes were chewed up, but that's not unexpected. Overall I felt conditions were good and would recommend this course for any of you who feel the short yardage would not provide an enjoyable experience, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Had an enjoyable round at Mesa Linda yesterday there is in great shape As long as you give yourself a lead from the bare spots that are here and there. Bunkers were a little one friendly house they had not been raked and were somewhat compacted from overwatering. The greens were good, only had one fun experience with hundreds of Dime size frogs hopping in front of your ball as it rolled to the hole. The price is reasonable at $45, but that is a walking rate. Since this person is Shorter and flatter than the neighboring of Los Lagos layout, Could be a nice walk.

Played Mesa Linda today on 10/6/2021. Both greens and fairways were aerated with small holes from past Monday (10/4/2021).

Played the always busy Costa Mesa courses on Thursday and Saturday. Bumpy greens were the order of the day at Mesa Linda. As usual the pace of play was super slow but with the cool ocean breeze it was a lot better than a quick round inland. Good idea to just relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Out early on an overcast morning. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Despite being busy, no issue getting out quickly. I enjoy playing this curse because it provides so many interesting, fun approach shots. The green complexes are delightful and can present some real challenges, which off sets the shorter distance of this course. As I age, it is nice to be able to reach the majority of the holes in regulation, and not require woods/hybrids to get home. So this course gives numerous opportunities for that.

Conditions here are very good. Greens roll well, reasonably quick, but still receptive. Fairways have good coverage. Rough is inconsistent at times. A few tee boxes are a bit chewed up, but that's to be expected on this course.

It is also nice to play a "walker friendly" course, and the fact that the course does not come in after 9, means you don't have to contend with "back nine play". Always enjoy my rounds here. Just a fun little track, which I recommend to those who feel that the short yardage would be "too easy". Even so, provides interest despite that.

Played Mesa Linda last Friday, 6/18, teeing off around 2:30. Costa Mesa is ALWAYS packed so its expected to take awhile to play and that held true this time with POP around 5 hours.

It's been about 10 years since I played Mesa Linda and I still love this quirky little course. Oddly enough the greens were even crazier than I remembered and with some of the pin placements we had you just kind of shook your head and laughed. As for the condition of the greens, I thought they were really good. For the amount of play these things get and the short yardage, you know they just get pummelled. So I'm pretty impressed as they held well and rolled pretty decently. We did have the end of day/Poa wobbles to deal with, but not bad at all.

The fairways, tees and rough were all really good. Getting that summer lush kikuyu going and other than the 14th hole everything was really good.

The layout of this course is super fun to me. It's definitely short but you don't need to just try and overpower it because this little guy protects itself with some of the wildest greens anywhere. I think if you're smart you'd lay back a little and give yourself the best angles in rather than being as close as possible.

It was $49 for the round with cart which is a pretty good deal in the OC if you ask me. My guess is things keep getting better as they gear up for the City Championship in early August. I'd recommend this course if only to see how many times you say "this is the weirdest green I've ever seen..." :)

Foursome booked at Costa Mesa this past week since I found a better time than my original LA City booking, and bonus was that it was the Mesa Linda 18 that I had never played before. It's the shorter version of the Los Lagos 18 at the same facility, but the 1000 or so yards less is made up for with trickier, smaller greens. I actually really enjoyed this track and think I prefer it to the Los Lagos side, which is something I did not expect. It just feels like it has a bit more character and is a fun change of pace with more par 3s thrown in and very reachable par 5s in many cases. At present you will find some good coverage in the fairways as well (a few bare areas here and there to be fair), and some deep but not severely penal rough. The tee boxes (we played from the blue tees) are in good shape (maybe a bit shaggy on some) and I found the bunkers to be quite playable. Greens were also in good shape but some of the angled, sloping pin placements here are devilish, making for a horrible day out with the flat stick, but fun nonetheless. Paid $60 greens fee + cart which is acceptable and a good rate at an optimum time in the OC. The carts are very basic so make sure to have a GPS of your own as some of the transitional routing can be a little confusing, especially the transition from the 15th to the 16th holes. POP was actually pretty good despite waiting on a good numbers of holes. It was a pretty perfect day out there weather-wise so a few minutes waiting here and there was not a massive issue. Overall, just a nice place to play some golf and dial in some of that short game, but you're not being spoon-fed the journey to get to those greens. You still have to bring your best in order to get out of here with a great score.
