The course was in great condition ! Best I've seen it ever. Fairways are very lush and well groomed. Rough is also lush, but playable. Greens were good, soft receptive, but slower than usual. My only complaint was they never mowed the tee boxes. It was like playing from the rough.

Finished in well under 3 hours with nobody any where close to us. Masks required around the clubhouse, but not on the course, which IMO is the correct way to do it. Great spring morning playing the greatest game on Earth,

Walked Mesa Linda this morning 4/30/2020. The maintenance crew was out there! Man never seen so many mowers going at once. The fairways that were mowed were very nice, rough was bordering the fairways nicely, pretty deep and heavy for the most part, put hitting fairways at a premium which is kinda rare out here. Greens were in great shape, best putting surfaces I've seen since the re-openings, smooth and medium-fast, not riddled with ball marks yet because of the lack of play. Tee boxes are okay, bunkers are okay. Only problem is after all the mowing there is tons of dry grass in the rough and fairways, tough to find some balls in it. Pace of play right at 4 hours.

As of todays round, COVID restrictions have the range closed, putting green closed, walking only, requiring masks, and also has a waiver to sign at the pro-shop that is available to print out online and recommended to sign before you show up. Would definitely recommend getting out to either course right now at costa mesa.

Looking for some where to play early in which frost would not be a factor. Decided that Mesa Linda would qualify. While not very busy when I arrived, there were plenty of "regulars" there by the time they finally opened the pro shop.

While there was no frost, it was a cool and breezy morning, the kind of chill in the air which never allows you to get totally loose. I was impressed by just how green the course was, and looked nice. The most grass I've seen on fairways for some time. (except for #14 which has many bare areas) The greens were decent, but much slower than I recall. Bumpy at times as well. Bunkers had lots of well raked sand.

I must compliment the grounds crew, as the entire course was very well presented. You could see the attention to detail with the flowers, and areas surrounding some of the tee boxes. Although I am not a Costa Mesa resident, nice to see the deep discounted rates for them. (Wish they would provide an "Orange County resident" discount as well.)

I Played Mesa Linda this morning (8/13/19) with my nephew Michael. I was a little disappointed that the range was closed for mowing (tuesday is maintenance day) with the range open around 8:30. When we teed off at 7:21 the course was wide open. We played as a twosome finishing at 10:20. The course is in pretty good condition as we started but the crews were hard at work punching the fairways. I normally don't mind fairways that have been punched but the machine used was ripping 2" to 3" chunks of sod up in some areas (I would have posted a picture but forgot my phone). This said it was still playable and only a minor problem. The fairways have the usual dirt spots here and there from the heavy play. The tee boxes are in very good shape with a few spots from people blasting trenches with there clubs. I found the greens to be the best part of this course they were still a little furry and damp but played soft and true. the speed got faster still holding your approach as the morning went on. Holes 17 and 18 had been mowed before we hit them, they were a little faster than the rest. I don't recall any bare spots or burn areas on the greens at all. The bunkers were mostly soft gray coarse sand some being wet but good coverage and depth in all. Meas Linda is a fun course and has always been a great place to work on my game. I will continue to play and enjoy this course.

Called around to try to find somewhere I could get first off on Monday. The girl answering the phone at Mesa Linda indicated they were "wide open" in the morning, and there first time off was 5:35am. So you imagine my surprise when I arrived at 5:15 and there were already about 15-20 people waiting for the pro shop to open. By the time the guy opened the shop at 5:30, must have been over 30 people waiting. Long story - short. Skipped #1 and had the course to myself.

The course is in great condition. Very green and lush, the rough is thick and juicy. The greens were quick, rolled true, and received shots extremely well. I am really impressed just how nice the greens are. Some of the high end & private courses could take a lesson from this place. The only downside is every greenside bunker I found, and I found quite a few, were soaked to the point where the sand was like goo, several had casual water.

They are using a lot of water on this course and it shows. Great job by maintenance keeping this course in such fine condition.

Played today, with a good POP at 3hrs 40mins, teeing off at 1:40pm. Seemed like generally light play, and really no waiting after the 2nd hole.

Played today, with a good POP at 3hrs 40mins, teeing off at 1:40pm. Seemed like generally light play, and really no waiting after the 2nd hole.

First time playing since their greens punching last month. Looks like they all were recently verticut, but no issue there. Other than the 15th green, all others had virtually no remnants from punching, and rolled very nicely at medium speed.

Tees were recently cut and were fantastic, short, lush and good footing. Fairways were generally soft, not cut as short/nicely as the tees, and did not provide a lot of roll-out, with a number of wetter/damp areas. Easy to hit heavy shots. Was not in any bunkers.

Overall, pretty good condition and should dry up in the coming days.

Played Monday, teeing off as a 3some about 1:20pm, POP 4.5hrs with waits throughout amid pretty heavy play.

Course has dried out nicely since my last visit. Looks like they punched a few tees over the last two weeks, but not an issue, providing good footing and only slight visible punch marks.

Freshly cut fairways were lush and provided very good roll, providing mostly great lies. Rough was not too penal, just a bit, and bunkers were OK. Aprons around the greens are starting to show life from being washed out, but still a mess in a few areas - which I had to deal with on the 3rd and 8th holes - very bouncy if putting through.

Greens were pretty good - a bit bumpy from foot traffic, but otherwise pretty smooth at medium-pace. Pin positions seemed to all be on a slope today!

Course is coming around nicely. Saw the cart lady twice. Lovely day for golf.

Out early as usual. Not as busy as expected, so no problem getting out and pace of play just about three hours. Staff in the shop was accommodating. Agree with the prior review by Lee, very wet with some casual water and areas with cart damage. Green surrounds reflected the rain damage, but the greens themselves were very nice. Perhaps because of all the slope of these small greens they withstood the rains very well. Rolled well, but were a little slower than usual. This course was an excellent choice to play after all the rains, because it is not long, so getting zero roll out does not hurt too bad here. I just thin this course is a joy to play despite its length, as it is both interesting but still provides a fun challenge

Played on Friday, 3/1 with my son and the Pisarski brothers. Perfect weather and rain coming in the following days made it a bit busy. Walked up with no reservations, paid $35 each to ride, and were off the 1st tee a little after 1pm. Waited throughout the entire round but was able to finish in around 4 1/2 hours. Course is pretty no-frills, but found some good food in the old school coffee shop prior. Tried to grab some drinks at the outdoor walk up window, only to be sent to the bar, who said we should of went to the window, but still was able to get what we needed. Nothing on course but a snack shack that is out of the way. There was a marshal driving around, but he was picking up trash or balls and never tried to push anyone. I thought the course was in decent shape. Fairways showed some wear from water run-off, and one was completely destroyed (15?). Rough was at a minimum, an inch or so above fairway. Plenty of spots on the tee boxes as the markers are set about 30 feet apart. Greens are small, but in pretty good shape. For their size, they are very undulating. Bunkers were the worst part, a thin layer of loose sand over hard packed. Overall, I found it better than I expected. Mesa Linda is pretty short and mostly straight forward, perfect for my son's 2nd round ever. I could see some fun rounds on this course, as there are many chances to "go for it," by cutting corners or going for the green off the tee.
