Greens were lightning fast, nice and smooth putts rolling true. Exceptional 19th hole, recommended, especially if you can score a deal.

Got a $40 w/cart online deal thru the SJH website for a Friday 12:08 time, they let us out 25 minutes early (friendly and accommodating staff), PoP around 4:30 so we finished with plenty of daylight. I normally score well on this course but today was breezy and the greens were lightning fast, nice and smooth like glass in some places. Many 3 putts in our group. Recent rain helped to ease the fairway runout and the bunkers were a bit heavy, not well maintained but not terrible. Exceptional 19th hole, Fidel poured us a righteous Makers Mark after our round. Recommended, especially if you can score a deal.

Got out today (Dec 1) at 8:08am tee time. Finished in 4 hours, course is in really nice condition. New brownish sand (somewhat thick) but fun to hit out of.....

Great service and staff - as always.

I enjoy the layout and from the whites you have a nice challenge with the par 5s and 3s, the par 4s are somewhat short to be honest, but with the doglegs on the back 9 they make up for the yardage with accuracy requirements.

Still not worth the $75 rack rate, but anything under $60 i feel is a good price for the track. Wife and i had the group golfer rate of $42 each (including range balls and $5 food voucher)...HELLO - yes please!!!!!!!

First off the back 9 on 11/2/13. Had not played the course for a year and found it to be in fairly good condition. Were able to squeeze in just before the men's club start when we finished the back 9 and played the front 9. The two of us finished in just over 3 hours and never had a wait. That's the way golf is to be enjoyed! For some reason I hit more than my share of bunkers but found the bunker quality much better than last I was here. Greens seemed to be nearly recovered from aeration, but stil a bit slow and bumps in places. Course seems to be well-managed and I enjoyed the "new" clubhouse. Nice omlettes! Always a fun track and a good value.

Out at SJH for a Sunday afternoon jaunt. Greens ready to punch next week, fast and firm with a few bumps and bruises to negotiate ... and unrepaired ball marks. Fairways and rough at this course is decent to stragley (if that's a word), bunkers crusty but playable ... typical muni-ish. Did some education to an nice guy from another country ... showed him how to rake a bunker after he hit out of one and walked away ... he didn't know what the rakes were for. I hope it stuck. SJH is not a difficult course, has some interesting holes, a bit pricey for what you get, but worth a shot if you're in the area. Great watering hole.

It has been a number of years since I played here. I always seem to encounter difficulties with the starter. Not worth going into. The biggest reason I don't play here is that after I finish the front the nine, there are hords of people going off on the back.

When I got to #10, there was a group on the green, a twosome in the fairway, and as I was deciding whether to stay and wait or bail, two more singles drove up. (I decided to bail after just playing nine. Too frustrating. I suspect it will be many more years before I return.

Played on a sunny and warm SoCal Sunday, twilight rate riding of $50. Found the course in decent condition when in the fairways with no rough to speak of making this a scorers paradise. Greens were vari-speed and bumpy with many unrepaired pitch marks, so I was fixing 3 or 4 per hole ... easy to 3 putt if you got careless ... let's just say I've seen them in better shape. Very firm bunkers, beware. PoP was slow due to the group ahead being from 'out of town' ... no clue as to what is ready golf. Marshall finally arrived on the 16th hole but by then the damage was done: a 'shoulda been' 4 hour round stretched to 4:25. Oh well, still a beautiful day to hang in San Juan Capistrano.

Teed off at 3:45 and pace was really nice finished at 7:30 just as it started to get dark.

played early morning on a weekday. had to get out of the house, the newborn is crying to much and needed some peace and quiet. the course was in better shape than usual, i haven't been here in a bit but the fairways and teeboxes were nice and full, not too many dry spots. many tee boxes weren't very level however. greens rolled true, quickened up as the course dried up late morning. pace was about 3h 45 min but i got out early. a few tough, quirky holes but overall an enjoyable course to play. will definitely be back again.
