Golf Course Reviews
Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played this morning for the first time here and had a great time. Got in early to beat the rush and finished in 4 hours. Very enjoyable, well-kept course. The only negative was that I lost about 5 balls in the rough, which gets really hairy and swallows up golf balls like they are little snacks. If you hit it into the tall stuff you can say goodbye because you are not going to find it. But hey, it is a links-style course and that's part of the difficulty. Altogether one of the best courses that I have played in the area. I most certainly will be back.
Played on 1/24/10
NOTE: This review only applies to the front 9. I had a 12:30 tee time, and the course was so backed up that we just played the front 9 twice.
This course was actually in pretty good condition considering the crazy amounts of rain that it experienced in the past week. Greens were decent with the exception of the one or two which had significant bare spots. Some unrepaired ball marks, but not many. Sand traps were hard and crummy, and one was almost completely filled with water. Fairways were quite nice, and the rough was fine. All things considered, I was pleased with the quality of the course.
The main issue, however, was that the course was extremely backed up. Yes, it was a Sunday, however we thought that it wouldn't be too bad since there the NFL Playoffs were on. But it took us almost 4 hours to play the front nine, which we then breezed through in about 1.75 hours on the second go around since we didn't have to wait for anyone. And not only did it take forever, but I had a bad experience with the other golfers there as well. First off, about half of the people didn't speak english. This normally doesn't bother me (why would it?) except that it actually affected the pace of play since there were communication issues between foursomes. Additionally, one person in the group behind us literally yelled at us from the tee box to hurry up despite the fact that the group ahead of us was still putting on the green. While waiting at the next hole, I tried to explain to him that #1: hitting when players are within range is very dangerous, and #2: the course was so backed up that rushing play wouldn't make any difference. However, the guy refused to listen and continued to be a jerk, and even tee'd off while we were within range of his ball waiting for the group ahead. Finally, I lost a single ball which I clearly saw land in the rough, only to find it on the side of a tee box three holes later which I hadn't been to yet. My balls are clearly marked with my initials so that nobody could mistake mine for one of theirs. Picking up another person's ball is really inconsiderate.
In conclusion, the quality of this course is pretty decent. It is a moderately challenging course for a 16 handicap player such as myself. I found the actual playing to be very enjoyable. However, the pace of play and lack of respect and character of some of the other players really took away from the experience. My usual experience with backed up courses is that everyone is unhappy about it but nice to each other since everyone is in the same boat. This was not the case here. Maybe I came on a bad day, but I will probably never play here again unless it is during a non-holiday weekday.

Challenging course with some narrow fairways requiring some daunting shots, balanced with some holes with fairly open fairways. Very enjoyable because it requires course management, which I like. Yes, you have to drive through drainage pipes sometimes to get from hole to hole. But who cares? Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
