Some additional points other courses should take note. 1. Water every 3rd hole with ice dispensers. 2. Saw the cart gal at least 3-4 times during round. She was curteous and very helpful 3. Pace of play was great so heat wasn't a factor. We literally felt like we were running through the course. Also loads of mature trees provide ample cover and shade.

Gotta say thinking about the course a +12 hours after the rounds I was really impressed. The facilities are top notch. The service impecable. For the money there is value here and I would suggest this spot if you want to experience resort golf with a 'cherry on top' and it's literally right in LA's backyard.

Thanks again to the management of Indian Wells for allowing GK to host an event here.

Just some additional thoughts. That LCD screen on their range finder/GPS is OK but with the glare of the sun... very hard to see. Maybe employing a better sun screen over the display would help. There are several blind shots from the tee. A few of them I feel without prior course knowledge would cause caniptions for even the most seasoned golfer. I looked around for a course guide at the starter, forgot to ask the desk, but I didn't see one or else I would have bought one on the spot. (I do this for all courses I have never played before.) Had trouble finding yardage markers on the fairways. Sprinklers were hard for me to find. It wasn't so much of a trouble just a little hassle. Had to retreat to the cart to get distance. I would recommend bringing your GPS if you have it and keep it handy. Wind does play a factor in the PM. You won't feel it but the higher altitude wind around the tree tops will wreak havoc on higher shot balls. The desert air though is thin enough for balls to go sailing. So bear these in mind when playing. Still ... this course is great.

This is a great course. Greens are in transition so they are a little bumpy, but for all the bumpiness they roll fairly true. Facilities are top notch for the course. The clubhouse is opulent. Well stocked pro shop with very helpful staff. Greens are still bumpy but roll true... really sounds strange but it does. You have to be firm with the puts but expect to blow by them if you roll that ball. I had a 3 foot put and blew past the hole 5 feet. The greens are glassy. I did more than my fair share of blowing puts past the hole. Fairways are exceptionally green and lush. Tee boxes very flat. Course plays very fair. Like that they didn't penalize you. Been to courses that were pretty punitive if you didn't know where to place the ball and happened only once to me on this course only b/c I didn't look at the hole set up. That's my fault. Overall very pleased with the course. Would defiantly recommend. Great course and probably b/c this is past the busy season it could be a definite deal in the summer months.

Great course to play with all the bells and whistles. From the beginning, greaet enterance and free valet parking, take your clubs and they put them on a cart. Very modern club house. Putting green is actually a 9 hole putting course with mini bunkers and a lot of undulation. definately worth trying out, takes about 10 minutes. Course itself , as JohnnyGK said in the picture, it really is that beautiful. Fairways are amazing and so is the rough. The rough is like fairways at decent muni's. Tee boxes were good, as were bunkers. Greens were very firm, and you may not want to pin seek, or can end off the green. Greens are cut very very short, where you can see brown under the grass. You can put from 50 yards out if you want, because fairways are manicured so well. I lagged it very close once from 40 yards. A couple par 4's are reachable for straight average drives, and birdies can be had by all, as I even got one. Many ESA's that give free drops where you see flowers all over the course. Customer service was great for the most part. 2 of us had tee times 10 minutes apart, but the desk guy said he'd have no trouble accomodating us to play together. He got us out, but then someone else gave us a hard time and tried to make us feel bad, but then came on back later to apologize (probably after he found out we were from GK). Friendly staff otherwise. Definatly a course you want to play. Gets hot during the spring and summer, so bring plenty of water. Definately a good time and low scores to come here.

Just want to provide some follow up to DavidZ who played back in July. You probably caught the Celebrity Course during the summer transition (where there is a transition from the winter ryegrass to the summer bermuda). This transition process occurs at virtually every desert course at some period (depending on how long they keep the rye around, seeding rates, etc.) Course conditions now are excellent.

We brought 100+ golfers to Indian Wells Golf Resort for our national team championships on Sept 13 & 14. Golfers from all over the country came to play in the event. The course conditions were exceptional. Fairways were pure, green rolling smooth, tees were perfect. Conditions are going to keep getting better as the course completes overseeding and players this fall/winter can tee it up on the winter ryegrass (that is more emerald green and striped perfectly).

The IW Club/Clubhouse was open /complete and got rave reviews from many in attendance. Some likened the new clubhouse to that of a W hotel. In fact Sat afternoon we just hung out there and watched the USC/Ohio State game in the posh bar/grille area on the LG flat screens. We even held our welcome reception outside on the fun IW Putting Course.

Other comments from golfers in attendance included: "Great service (but not too over the top)", "am planning on bringing my foursome back for a golf vacation", "Looking forward to watching the Skins Game this Thanksgiving to see how Phil does on the course I played"

This is the newly renovated course partly used for the LG Skins Game. At this time of the year, they have plenty of bottled water and ice with towels included to dry off or cool down. Their GPS is outstanding but I have to admit that I still resort to playing by eye and the seat of my pants. 85 isn't bad on this bugger for a hot June morning (7AM). Fairways vary from tight to very fair.
Nice fluffy sand in the traps and they are numerous!!! Only had to hit out of two! Greens weren't running fast because of the early morning syringing. Marshal told me they would be about 11
that afternoon. One of those courses that has to be played more than once to know the right lines off the tees. I liked all of the forced carries from the teebox. Not quite your typical "desert golf" layout. Went for the green with a short flag on #12(248yds)
and managed a bird from 12' after my 1st swing. Remember,I am a 60 yr old geezer! Have to play more in the desert.......

Played the course on 5/17/08 with 8:00 am tee time. No one pushing us, though our foursome was slow at times (two relative beginners.) Course was immaculate; picturesque views and fair but not easy. Construction continues on clubhouse and eating area is in either tent by the pro shop or outside by the first tees. Not a cheap place to play ($130) but well worth the cost. Lunch special was a bartain: burger, chips and a beer (Import or Domestic) for $8. I highly reccommend the Celebrity course.

Played Saturday and were the 1st group off...2.6 hours were finished and the course is in PERFECT shape...Greens were perfect as was everything else...the staff is super as well.

I finally got a chance to play the newly designed Indian Well Golf Resort (Celebrity Course) last Thursday. Wow, what a treat. This course is gorgeous. Immaculately kept, beautifully manicured, waterfalls, and flowers everywhere. Beauty is a big part of the Indian Wells Golf Resort experience and the management certainly wants to keep it that way by evidence of a local rule which allows golfers free drops from flower inhabited areas. The Celebrity Course is certainly visually attractive while at the same time extremely challenging and fair. The course would not be the host of the LG SKINS game if it was a push over. Something else I liked about the course was its traditional hole selection of 14 par 4’s, 2 par 5’s and 2 par 3’s. You never find that anymore with new designs. Personally, I love the fact I get to tee up the driver 16 times. The thing is there are no let down holes out there either. Every hole is beautiful and every hole requires a contemplative approach to score well.

Oh, something I found a blast was they have a 9 hole putting course with a stream and little bunkers. It was tough!

As far as service, Indian Wells Golf Resort does it right. We saw the refreshment cart 6 times during our round, the first tee assistance was very informative, the bag service excellent and the starter/golf shop staff professional/courteous.
