first timer here. enjoyed the course very much, the layout was great. it never felt like I was playing the same hole again. greens were fast and tuff to chip it close. tee boxes, bunkers, fairways were all in excellent condition. pop was 4 1/2 hrs, started just before twilight. if you enjoy walking courses, this is one that allows it. btw, the fairways are very forgiving. a few times I though I was in trouble off the tee, but happy to find that it was on the short stuff. enjoy!

Played 2/18. Biggest plus was the pace of play, about 4 hours. The marshals have a clue, and do their jobs.
Bring your "short game" as anything off the greens is a challenge.

Played 2/18. Biggest plus was the pace of play, about 4 hours. The marshals have a clue, and do their jobs.
Bring your "short game" as anything off the greens is a challenge.
Course is in over-all very good condition. The only negative this day was that they were "sanding" the greens, and had not informed us. The greens were firm and inconsistent with some quite bumpy, possibly from running equipment on them while we played.
Fairways were wonderful, lots of room, and run-out (I'm 25 yards longer here). Bunkers reported as a mess by my partner, I managed to stay out of them.

Played the Goose 1/26 Sun @ Twilight. Course is in outstanding winter condition. Fairways are lush but hard and dry. Great to play from as compared to other courses this time of year. Greens are outstanding, medium to fast with true surfaces. Plenty of break when putts slowdown. Staff is outstanding here with an attitude of gratitude. They make you feel welcome and you get the feeling they are happy to be there. They know what they have and give you the feeling that they are proud to offer it to you. Top notch practice facility, wish i lived closer. This is probably my 4th time playing the Goose and I do like the layout but the only possible criticism I can come up with is a few times during the round when you step up to the tee, there is a feeling that you already played that hole. Some holes have the same look to them but its nitpicking as its a fun satisfying round overall.

Fun times at the Goose.
Course plays different than usual right now, as you get plenty of run on your drives on these cut down fairways. Greens are the same, tricky, medium to fast, no real damage seen.
Layout is always tempting to go for it, although smart play is highly encouraged here more than typical places, lots of areas to lose a ball.
Bunkers were the biggest downfall, many were hard, needs much more sand on the greenside bunkers. Easy to bounce your club off the ground trying to hit the sand and blade your ball way past the hole to OB. Take caution here. Practice bunker is similar, so take a few swings in there to get comfortable.
Always a good isolation feeling at The Goose, not much noise, typically groups well spread apart. A fun course, on the must play list for So Cal.

Good times with the LA Golf Group. We were the first group of five, teeing off around 12:40, with everyone finishing before dark. Great course conditions throughout. Greens were fast, yet soft enough to hold most good shots. I saw no bare ground anywhere. The fairways and rough were lush and cut nicely. Fairway grass was low enough to allow for good roll out, but lush enough to give good lies most everywhere. Rough was not penal and I often had good lies with my ball sitting up nicely. Some tees were a little chewed up, but not terrible by any means. I was in a couple of bunkers and although the sand was nice, they could have used more. Cart girl came around several times and alerted us to her last call, which was nice.

Enjoyed a fun round at the Goose this afternoon with the LA Golf Group. $54 with cart is a solid rate here. I was in the lead group at 12:20 with kviser, sr129 and Paisano. All the groups were able to finish before dark in under 4.5 hours. I always love the firm 10-minute tee times here. Keeps the pace so much better overall and makes the round more enjoyable than most courses that cram in as many groups as possible.

The course was in very good overall condition, especially for winter. We played here last year around the same time and I want to say it was a little nicer on that visit, but today was still very good. Fairways relatively tight with a lot of roll-out. Rough cut down, so it was not much of a factor. Tee boxes mostly good. I was in one greenside bunker (1st hole) and wasn't too impressed with the sand coverage. Too thin, especially when most bunkers here have big lips to contend with and major touch is required around these greens. Greens pretty good overall.

Always enjoy this course. Good layout with the tricky, well-protected greens providing the main source of challenge (especially when playing the white tees like we did). I'll be back for sure.

Played the Goose today as a single paired up with a nice threesome. Course is in the best shape of any course I've played so far this "winter". Tees, fairways, & rough are all beautiful and presented very nicely. Fairways are cut down and provided some roll but at the same time they were lush and gave us great lies all day long. Rough is also very lush and green but not very penal. Was in one fairway bunker today and it was compacted and a bit thin. Greens playing firm today but would hold well struck shots and pitches/chips with some spin. I've seen them better here in the past but still rolled quite well at around medium pace. Not a breath of wind today and we were done in 3hr 50min. Love this place! After being fortunate enough to have played here many times over the years I can say that it's not the longest or toughest course but the layout is still fantastic. Not too much trouble from the tees. The course's main defense are the swales around the greens. Scores can be had here if you play smart and take advantage when you get your chances. Good short game is a must!
