For my first round of golf in a very long time, I joined 3 childhood friends for an afternoon of fun. One in the group organized using a Groupon deal at $19 per player, including cart. Checkin was efficient, and we were given the first tee a little ahead of our 1:10 tee time, playing behind a group of 5 that included a young boy, but they kept pace with the group ahead. Play was slow, but we weren't in any rush - a relaxed vibe was the order of the day. We played from the white tees. It was a hot, breezy day, and as usual on this course whose fairways are lined with cottonwood trees, any balls hit in the rough were a challenge to find among the shiny, fallen leaves. Tee boxes were in decent shape, generally well covered, with some unlevel ground, and some chewed up areas. Fairways were lush and well covered. I didn't play from any bunkers, but they appeared to be maintained. Other members of my group noted that sand was thin and hard. Rough was variable (lush at the edges of fairways, thinner away), with lots of rodent burrows. The greens were disappointing. I knew of the recent maintenance, but several greens still had sand and obvious punch holes. Some small bare areas were evident, and there were many unrepaired ball marks. For my taste, there was just too much variability in the condition of the greens from one hole to another. In any case, this course has potential to be good, but on this day (Sunday 10/15) it could have been better. Note the quirky layout, in which you play away from the clubhouse until the 12th hole, then pass the clubhouse in the middle of a very long trek to the 13h hole. There is a refreshment shack convenient to the area around the 3rd tee and 11th green, but it was closed at the time we played. Also lacking was reliable water fountains - only found 2 on the entire course, and their flow was little more than a dribble.

I thought about playing Green River, but with the maintenance alert, decided to postpone, but after reading Larry's email in which they are pushing the punching until next week, decided to go for it.

I thought about playing Green River, but with the maintenance alert, decided to postpone, but after reading Larry's email in which they are pushing the punching until next week, decided to go for it.

Always enjoy playing here, but I must admit I really miss the original layouts. Course is in just OK shape. Greens roll reasonable well, a bit slow however Fairways are hit/miss. Bunkers are very thin/hard.

With the changes, the course is no longer as "walker friendly" as the original layouts, which is partially why I prefer the "old days" Plus there are a number of really nice holes on each course which are just not there any more

Decided to play GR as a single today 9/19. Got there about 10:00 am and the starter sent me right out to the tee. Ended up playing with another single, Doug. Nice guy and we had a good time out there. Know that they are not aerating the greens this week and will do so on Sept. 25, 26. Pace of play was slow. We still played in just under 4 hours but should have been faster but there was a 4 some a couple of groups ahead that was really slowing things down. They quit after 12 holes which was fine by us.

The kikuyu fairways are decent. They pretty much keep them mowed down but still not a lot of roll out. Tee boxes were ok. Very thick though and could have used a mower. Bunkers were hit and miss. Some were playable but most of them were rock hard. Sadly, this is so common on many courses so it’s tough to be critical here but I did make a point of mention to the pro, Art Guevara about it and he said he would make it a point to remedy. Art is great guy and if you’re ever there, say hello.

The greens are starting to wear with some showing some burnt areas. They did roll very nicely but looks like they could use some work.

Green River has a great lay out and I have always found this course challenging (then again, they’re all challenging). If you play after 11:00, you will get some wind to hit into. They’re going to aerate the greens soon but I would definitely recommend.

Got out this morning around 10 and played in just under 4 hours (not bad considering we were behind the mens club). Course is in a okay condition, 10 and 11 fairways are just not cooperating since they were flooded earlier this year and just are not responding. Hit and miss on bunkers and still have to hunt for balls hit into the rough.

Played here 8/12/2017. Had a early morning tee time. Pro shop worker wasn't very friendly but he did his job. The starter was very friendly and nice. Pace of play for our foursome was 4 Hr 32 min. Never had to wait which was nice. HOWEVER, This course is in pretty bad shape. We paid $56.00 each and this course looks worse than most of the city courses ive played. Holes 10 & 11 shouldnt be active. The fairways were non existent. Mud everywhere. Outside the fairway there was no rough just sticks and roots and trees. I will not be returning until the course can improve its conditions. Greens were in good shape and rolled true and tee boxes were decent but everything else was terrible. Don't pay more than $40 for this course! Otherwise your giving your money away.

Played Green River Blue Friday July 21st at 7:30 Got out on time, POP was 4:29 which in our case was bad because we play fast. We got stuck behind this 4 some that did everything in slow motion, hit the driver, drive the cart, walk from the cart to the ball, walk from the green to the cart. I mean you could tell they were retired and had "nothing" else to do that day and it was "their time out" The guy I was riding with let it bother his game but I am proud of myself, I blocked it out and I blocked out my partners comments and just played my game, I had 2 triples but was only 11 over for the other 16 holes and shot 89 from the blues, so I was happy.
Now I like Green River and at $37 for Senior I feel it is a good value. But after playing Los Serranos the last 3 weeks @$35 Green River was a major disappointment. Fairways 11 and 12 are roped off and no carts allowed as they are trying to get the grass back, All they are is big dirt patches. The tee boxes had some hard spots where you had issues getting the tee into the ground, Fairways had allot of bare spots, I finally was not in any bunkers so no comment on those, many of the green had bare spot or fungus on something. They were not is good shape. Like I said, I really like Green River but I feel even at $37 there are better choices to go play right now.
We also had breakfast and lunch and I don't know if they felt rushed because they had a banquet or what but the food was not even close to "up to par". Over easy egg was completely hard....... Sorry...

Played Green River with a bud Saturday morning, got around in 4.5 hrs with a bit of waiting, $60 w/cart and sm bucket ... was able to make the 7:30 tee time on a Thursday. Running late off the tee about 15 min. Found course in decent shape with several greens in distress but did not really affect play, rolling medium speed with a few bumps and bruises to navigate. Tree lined fairways (plenty of shade to hide from the sun) had mostly good lies but the turf gets thin if you run one near the edges. Bunkers looked okay just dry and wispy, stayed out of them today. Overall I really enjoy the parkland layout here but only get to play it once or twice a year. Very walkable (one good hill where the clubhouse is located) but due to the heat, we used e-carts today. Good return on investment and you can usually get a tee time.

I try to play here a few times a year because it isn't too far from home (Time wise), price is right, and the pro shop generally is good about getting me out early. A pleasant overcast morning, no wind, not too busy so no issues with POP.

A few of the greens had some issues, but overall, they were reasonably true. Fairways were decent, some dormant areas. Bunkers were inconsistent.

While I enjoy this course, I sure miss the days when there were two courses. Some of the distances between holes are a bit excessive, but mostly there are just a number of holes on the "old courses" which I miss playing

Played GR as a solo walk on Friday 5/26. Got there around 7:45 and the starter immediately got me out with 2 singles for $23 walking rate. One of the singles was traveling on business from Chicago and the other was someone that I had met before which was nice. Good guys in the clubhouse. They always work to make sure you have an enjoyable outing. Beautiful day. No wind and sunny. Pace of play was just about 4 hours. Would have been faster but the group in front of us seem to really struggle. I play GR from time to time and it seems to be pretty much the same course. The fairways were cut real low this time. Got lots of roll out. Overall in good shape except for portions of 10 and 11. They are still recovering from the flooding that occurred. Sand traps were hard. You could easily blade the ball over the green if you’re not careful. Tee boxes were fine. Greens were rolling well but looked like a couple of greens on the front 9 were getting a fungus or something. Back 9 greens were really nice. An enjoyable layout with some elevation changes on the back and as much as I regularly play here, I always enjoy it.
