Went out 12/2 and the course is in nice condition. Bunkers have been filled with nice new white sand. Only real problem is the rough is more level and less bumpy than the fairways. You never know which way the ball will bounce when it hits. Just one more item that made it a little tedious was they allow fivesomes and no marshal to move them along. I'm not sure but this might be the only course that allows that. This was the reason the 3 of us took over 4 hours to play a round.

First Time out here since they closed 18 of the holes. I drive by this course all the time and knew its not going to be the greatest playing conditions but with all of the rain, it was better than expected. Many years ago the river overflowed and they lost multiple holes on the orange course and one on the riverside course. At the time the county bought the course and redesigned it with 12 of the holes from the riverside course and 6 on the orange course. The riverside course was the much more fun of the two courses so I am glad that they used more of those holes. The river no longer sweeps through the course after they diverted it but the old river bed still has water from the rains this week. Its a good collection of holes with some doglegs and well placed sand traps. The course also has 5 par 5s and 3's which I like when courses are designed (or redesigned) with the 5 and 5. The Course also has a lot of tree's which makes accuracy key if you want to score. The greens are average in size and IMO easy to read but most of the greens were surrounded by sand traps.

Conditions are fine at the moment the rain has really greened up the course visually. Like most muni's there are a few different types of grass all over so you could have a good or by lie 2" away from your ball just depending on the roll. Fairways and rough were cut to about the same length with the grass under tree's being a bit long along with random patches of clover overall 5/10 for both. Sand traps were awful but I did notice a few of them had brand new sand so it looks like they are working on them. Tee boxes were chewed up on the par 3's and not the most level on the par 4's id give them a 4/10. The greens were actually in great shape overall. They received most shots and rolled smoothly with a medium pace. A few of the greens had some damage on the edges but they never caused an issue id rate them a 7/10.

POP is always an issue in OC/IE and today was no different with a 5hr POP for our 1045 tee time. The starter and marshal were very friendly and let us know that there were 3 tournaments this morning and it could be slow at times. We did wait on most tee boxes but honestly, it did not feel like that long of a round. As previously mentioned the carts are on the older side but has USB and a cooler but no ice. The cart paths and course overall is very rough and it would be best to have a side-by-side off road vehicle instead haha. Also its $18 cheaper to walk if you choose and its a flat course except for the walk between 12-13 and after 18 so rack rate of $52 over $70 if you walk. Next time I am going to walk. This is not a bad place to play if you cant find another tee time but it is not in most peoples rotation. It was great to play here with some friend who are not great golfers and thats what I like abou it.

Monthly golf group found its way back to Green River this past weekend and I was fortunate enough to be mentally prepared thanks to my good buddy kviser's excellent review from a few days previous. I won't go over it word for word but highlight some of the facets of this course in its current state. As Kevin mentioned, the cart paths and the terrain itself is rough on the back when you're driving at speed just about anywhere on the course. The course is a little lusher in terms of fairway coverage than I remember from any previous visits, but the bunkers (after the first two or three holes) are still a hardpan, sometimes standing water mess (impossible to play properly), while the tee boxes are shaggy and in dire need of TLC. My elevated tee shot on the 14th hole drifted a bit left and into the rough. Certainly findable, right? Nope. It was so deep and shaggy that it was gone, although I did find 2-3 other folks' lost balls, but never my own. And the greens? Not too bad in all honesty with some damage to be found on some of them, but overall I thought they played just fine. There was cart service throughout the very hot day so that was very nice. The amenities inside the facility are good but they do not have an ATM on premises so bring cash ahead of time. Carts are very basic but wasn't it not long ago this course still had gas-powered carts? Or am I thinking of somewhere else? Driving range looks a dirt mess. Anyway, the course, despite its flaws, still has some redeeming qualities in terms of the unique, sometimes quirky but still sort of fun layout, including three very gettable par 5s on the front nine (I lipped out on the third one to miss out on going -3 on them). We played (as is customary with my monthly group) from the white tees so that opens up a lot of the course in terms of distance. I would not rush to play there again but won't be as apprehensive as I was before.

Played here yesterday in a small scramble tournament. Tee off at 8:00 AM. The course looked lush and green; upon closer inspection it was very lush. There were areas that have not seen a mower in at least a week. If you missed the fairway, you had to spend some time looking for your ball. If you had to hit from the deep rough good luck advancing your ball. The greens were mostly okay, but some were bumpy and slow. There was the challenge of hitting a firm putt as getting used to the speed was a bit of a learning curve. Adding to the challenge, the pin placements seemed to be on some kind of slope. Some greens had minor damage, but it was not bad, and pins were placed away from any repairs. They have recovered from recent aeration. The Fairways were great. Always a great lie and good coverage throughout the course. We played the White tees and they were good as well. Maybe could have used a mowing but they were level, soft, and did not have a lot of divot damage. Sand in the bunkers was a true mixed bag. I saw greenside bunker sand on Hole 1 that was pristine, white, soft and raked nicely. Other bunkers had almost no sand and what was there looked to be hard packed, dark brown and nasty. Maybe they are planning on redoing all the bunkers, I don't know. Overall, the course needs more TLC. If you are in a cart, it's a bumpy ride. Whether you are in the fairway or the rough, or simply just driving over the cart path it's a challenge as there were several areas of deep potholes or no path whatsoever. Go slow and beware of the uneven ground. The secondary rough should be mowed lower and more frequently. On another note, the trains that travel frequently through here are loud! Is it really necessary to blare the air horn every time they pass by? It's like the conductor gets some joy out of irritating the golfers. On a nicer note, the course personnel were nice, the food was good, and beer was cold.

If you don't want to do any maintenence, that's fine but stop pretending to be a golf course. Just do us all a favor and fill in the bunkers with dirt along with some grass seed. That would be the respectable thing to do for your customers.

Played on Sunday with my dad and brother. We teed off at 640 and pace was great as we were in the parking lot around 11. The course is a solid value in my opinion for what it is. They definitely are trying and haven't thrown in the towel like a lot of similar courses have over the years.

The greens were shockingly in very good shape outside a couple holes. Hole 1 is a temp green, but the new green is looking very nice! One other green has some bad dead spots, but otherwise they were fantastic.

The fairways aren't manicured like you'll find at a resort course, but it's fair and they absolutely are trying to have a fairway with an actual rough.

I'm going to put this in my rotation for a cheap fun!

Haven't played Green River in over a year, due to the construction and conditions of the course. Played Monday and I have to say the course is in a lot better condition. All holes are open. The greens are the best I have seen them in years. #1 green is still not great but the rest of the greens are very good. They rolled true Med-fast. The fairways were green and barely any bare spots. The tee boxes are a little rough, due to amount of play. Sand traps did have small rocks and barely any sand. Staff is great.

Played Tues Aug 24th at 634, getting to the course that early is still difficult as the freeway construction wall is still going on, check in was fast, but he wears a mast and talks low so I can never hear or understand him, good my buddy was there because I ask him what he says, they had the white tee box on the first hole on the left side and it is a much better view of the fairway. Conditions haven't changed much, first hole green is getting better but still needs time, #12 green is much better, the rest of the greens are still very good. Tee boxes are fine as are the fairways with allot of green with a few brown spots, rough it the trees is long and you have to hunt for your ball. Taking the cart off the fairways it is like you are off roading it is so bumpy, some of the dirt cart paths are also getting very bumpy, drive slow or you will put your back out or hit your head on the cart roof, lol No marshalls, no beverage cart, but for $39 senior riding we will play here twice a month. POP was good at 339

Played Friday July 16th at 7am, check in fast, starter got us out on time. The tee markers were on the left tee box on the first hole and with the bushes being over grown it really narrows your view of the fairway. The 1st hole got rid of the temp green but the actual green is horrible, all the rest of the greens were nice and rolled well except #12 which also has issues. There are some nice green spots in the fairways, but also some brown spots. The bunkers are groomed nice but are nothing but hard packed sand. Wind always comes up on the back 9 and the holes run east towest and it really affects the ball. Actually ate lunch afterwards as we had 11 guys, 1st time in 18 months I ate lunch after a round. The course is not pristine but for $39 senior riding I will be back.
