Played Fri may 10th in a company best ball. We used to play here and with the bad conditions decided to stay away. They must be working on improving the course because we were pleasantly surprised. All the greens were pretty nice, and the fairways were not bad either. When to went off the fairways it was still like "off roading" there is a chance we might try it again. One negative is the coffee shop doesn't open until 7am according to the sign. We would want breakfast at 6 and tee time at 7.

Played today with a large group of friends. Noticed that it was going to a busy day when we noticed that a large golf group or tournament was stacked up on the first tee box. Our tee time was one hour later so we expected the group to be way ahead.

Teed off on time and did not encounter the group until hole#5 where we came to a standstill and stacked 3 groups. Called clubhouse, but noone came out to move the forward groups along. Grueling 5 hour POP.

Greens #1 and #4 were extremely bumpy, sandy and overgrown. It appears that they top dressed some of the greens. Fairways were decent but roughs are bumpy and full of gopher holes.

Was looking for a place to play on Wed 2/13 before the rains came and chose Green River since it is relatively close and has been a while since I had played. Got to the course and checked in around 10:00. Nice guy in the clubhouse but he wanted to charge me $33 to walk? Told him last time I was here it was $23. Rate increase? He hit his keyboard several times and said ok, $25. Never can figure what the rate is here. With nobody out there, I figured I had about 3 hours before the rain hit. Finished most of the course rain free. Played 17 and 18 in light rain but had rain gear so no problem.

This course is struggling. The County is doing river maintenance and therefore a lot of construction happening on the east side of the course. Muddy conditions on the walk between holes #2 to #3 and then between #11 and #12. Fairways are winter brown as was expected but there are way too many bare spots out there. Tee boxes are beat up as well. The rough is dormant kikuyu and really not a factor. Bunkers were damp but not hard with relatively good lies.

The greens on the front were beat up. Holes 1-5 were not good. Many burnt areas and very slow. The rest of the greens however were in good shape and some were really nice, smooth and rolled true. Can’t figure out why the first 5 greens are just not recovering.

GR has always been a nice course for me. Challenging layout, a bit scenic and the local pro Art Guevara, is one on the nicest guys. Just so disappointed it is struggling to come back. Will be back out here late spring to hope it will come back to the GR we always knew.

Played on Monday Dec 3. Teed off as a twosome at 11 AM and the pace of play was real good. Check in was smooth, driving range was nearby and the balls were decent. Practice putting green is a great feature. Coursewise, I give Green River a 5 of 10 rating: too many unpaved cart paths, too many tree roots making you wish for an off road cart, and, unfortunately, the patchwork greens on the front nine detracted from a beautiful and quiet day and a fun layout.

Played Fri Nov 23rd with our group, had a 6:22 tee time and got out following a single on time, we were a riding 3 some. Check in friendly, starter was real nice. POP was 3:19 and the single barely kept in front of us, the 2nd of our group was 4 1/2 holes behind us when we finished 18. IMHO that is not acceptable. After reading "dethmans" review we weren't expecting much, but truthfully we got even less. As stated the tee boxes were uneven and full of divot marks on par 3's, this course is so bumby that even if you are in the fairway more likely than not your ball will be in a small hole, just off the fairway is worse. Now we read that the first 2 greens had issues, we got to the first and IMHO it was "totally" unputtable. The next "3" were awful. That makes the first 4 holes horrible. From the 5th green on the greens were acceptable and some actually rolled nice. A few still had some spots. The only way we will play thus course again is if our group signs up there, and maybe not even then, we will "not" book this course for the Tuesday and Friday that we play. We paid holidays rates at $56 and it was probably cheaper than most other places, but it was a waste of money, for $14 more we could have walked goose creek.

Snuck out here for a mid afternoon round after work. Wasn't too busy. Friendly guy in pro shop. Carts are in awful condition and super old. It's painful to ride here as the course is super bumpy and the shocks on all the carts are shot. Bag kept getting bumped out of cart. Better just to walk. Tee boxes are in fair to poor condition, some mounded, most par 3s have divot damage. Fairways are hit or miss, some good coverage, some fair. Rough is patchy clumps with dirt interspersed. Bunkers had some heavy sand that was easy to get out of. Greens were hit or miss, the first 2 had heavy damage and were patchy, pock marked, with some new grass growing in. Some others actually rolled pretty well, but there were still areas being repaired. Pop was 2.5 hrs and that along with the cheap price is the main reason to play here. Have low expectations and you will not leave disappointed.

We found it to been good condition, with excellent greens free of ball marks, good fairways, tee boxes and POP. We are definitely coming back and will be adding this to our regular rotation.

Decided to make the trek out to Corona this weekend to give Green River another shot after having played the GK event out there a while back and not being satisfied with a three-digit score. Was joined by fellow GKers Kassper7 and Mattias (plus another friend) and away we went with a 10:46am tee time playing from the blue tees for around $50 riding. My expectations were pretty high regardless past reviews but unfortunately my experience was even worse than previous entries. First off, the tee boxes were not mowed down in the slightest. They were trimmed the same as the rough and that simply will not cut it (no pun intended). The fairways are dry, thin and only occasionally lush. The rough was fine I guess, but there were plenty of useless areas in that arena as well. Bunkers? What bunkers? Nothing but hardpan, grassless shoveled out ditches. Awful. And the greens? Well, there were a few that were in decent shape, but for the most part they were blotchy, bumpy, discolored and even had some areas of scorched earth that caked up like Greyscale in Game of Thrones. What a mess. Conditions such as these simply make a difficult game even more difficult. I often wonder how the pros would do in such poor conditions. The setting and the layout for Green River are just fine though and it's a huge shame that the course conditions don't justify the surrounding area or the drive out to Corona (depending on where you're coming from). There are even a few interesting holes that could really be special if the course was simply in better shape. Truly disappointing.

I hadn't played Green River for a while, so after confirming that all 18 holes were open, was able to secure the first time off. Not too busy, so no issue getting out early. Walked the 18 in about 2 1/2 hours, which is fairly quick given the distance from #12 to #13 and the long walk in from #18.

The best part of the course was the greens, BUT - they had just fertilized apparently so there was a light "sandy material" on every green. So playing early, with the ball being wet, when you got to the ball there was a ring of sand, almost like a range ball would have. Same thing after every putt, so you had to wipe off the ball very well to get all the fertilizer off before putting. The greenside bunkers were all well maintained, but very very thin, with little sand.

Fairways were a mix of bare, thin, and decent. The rough was a mix of thin, bare and US Open thick type rough, depending upon where the ball finished.

I used to really enjoy the two Green River courses, but I am not a big fan of this place since they consolidated the two courses. However for $23 to play, it's worth playing.
