I had really high expectations for this place, so that might taint my review a bit. I went there the day before to hit balls and chack the place out. The range, chipping green and putting greens are all outstanding. Especially the chipping gree, it's huge. Excellent practice facilities.

I liked it so much I went back the next day to play as a single. The guys in the shop were great. They had another single and a twosome and hooker us up. We hit balls and got on in about 20 minutes. Luckily they put us out in front of a big tourney which the startyer said he wasn't going to be able to do, but somehow the proshop guy did it.

On to the course. It's OK. It is more links style than anything else, but there are no giant greens or run up shots or anything like that. So if you expect to play golf like you see at the British Open, you're not going to here. The greens are just like greens every where else in the US, not like the greens in the UK. The place kind of looks linksy, with that burn that runs all through the course and the fescue here and there. The fescue really doesn't come into play, but the burn does on a lot of holes. You really need to play here a few times to be able to nkow where the burn is and how to play around it.

The FW's were in good shape(after all, it has only been 5 days since opening) and are tight and have some small slopes to them. If you miss the FW, there are a bunch of bumps and humps that give you sidehill/uphill/downhill lies, but the rough is nothing to worry about, it is only about 2 inches long, if that.

The greens were nice, but much faster than the practice greens. I blew my first putt by the hole about 20 feet because I expected the greens to be similar to the practice greens.

Bunker sand is really nice and theer are a lot of bunkers. There are a bunch of waste areas also. There are also a few areas that looked like half full ponds. I don't know if they are planning on filling them up or not, but they are pretty ugly as they are.

One last thing. It took us 5 hours to play and we hardly waited on anybody all day. Why? No carts on the grass Monday through Thursday. Horrible. Makes the GPS in the cart useless and makes play take forever. Hopefully that is just until the grass takes root better.

Overall this is a good course, especially for the weekday fees. I was just a bit disappointed because I wanted to play golf like I see at the Brit Open, with the huge greens and the running shots. But this is just your basic US style course with a burn, some fescue here and there and bumps and humps in and around the FW's. But it was in good shape, which isn't saying much in the opening week. So go there to play, just don't expect something way out of the ordinary because it's not. I don't want this review to make the place sound bad because it was a fun, challenging course, it just isn't a full on UK type, links course like I was expecting. But it is a tough, nice course with great practice areas, a great staff and good prices. I would give it a 7.5 out of 10 and would suggest it to others.
