Played Friday the 23rd. 1st time in about 3 years. I'm not here to bad mouth this place with my experience, but, i wish I can understand how managing a golf course works. This has to be the worst condition golf course ever! I get how this covid situation has put a damper on doing business but teesheets has been full for a long time now and this place too. When fairways have 1/3 of grass to dirt on not 1 but all holes it just makes me wonder. This place has so much potential and played a lot in its early years . Ihave heard that the last few years that they have tried to make improvements and all the best to them. Not until they make huge progress will I ever go back. Best of luck to them.

The Links at Summerly should be more aptly named, "The Stinks at Bummerly." What a disaster. The only course in So. Cal with worse fairways is Victoria. You had to find grass to put your ball on in the fairway almost all the time. There are large swaths of bare ground on every hole. The greens have been invaded by what appears to be a cross between 'Ku Ku You' and Bermuda. Every time the ball rolled through these patches it would slow down and be knocked off line. The bunkers have merged into the adjacent desert areas of hard ground. Soo sad to see this great layout turn into another Victoria. Make sure you have taken care of number two's if you play here. The restrooms on the course were locked!!! Shameful!! I would not be surprised if this course closes soon. I will end all this negativity on a positive note. The tee boxes where in perfect condition. Go figure........

Played 12.22.21. PoP was great. Teed off at 9:30 and played 3hrs45mns. Course conditions were brutal. I have enjoyed this course in the past, but it has had it's challenges. Part of it is the dormancy of the grass, but more so, the severe lack of grass. This has the potential to be an amazing course, based on the challenge, and uniqueness of its' character, but the conditions are beyond brutal. Sad to see the potential that lies there.

So I played here about 6 weeks ago and while the conditions were far from ideal it looked like that based on improving reviews they many be making an effort to restore this great layout. Oh boy was I wrong. This place slid back quick. Not a live blade of grass on the few patches there were and the greens were as bumpy as a back country road. The traps were awful and the rough was just harder dirt than the fairways. The weather was splendid though.

Played 11/6 in the morning. Pleasant surprise I have to say. The course still needs to work on the fairways but the greens were in very good shape considering they recently had been punched. Friendly staff but if you play early you had better chow down ahead of time since the restaurant doesn't open until mid morning. Pace of play was good. 4 hour round on a Saturday morning. With some more tender care on the Fairways this will be a solid play.

Delightful surprise. Anyone familiar knows its been a struggle with its many challenges thru the years, but let me tell ya they're comin' back!! It's been a long time since you could look out over the course from the #1 tee box and see a lot of green!!
I'm gonna give it 3 1/2 out of 5. Front nine fairways seem to be holdin' up pretty good in the heat having been sodded. Back nine still has some bare spots that they haven't got to but will. A couple guys were out planting new trees, while a tractor was working on taking down overgrown shrubbery.
Greens overall held & rolled pretty true. Seemed like there was a slight dusting of sand on some, but having no evidence of punching. A couple also had a few spots where some foreign growth made its way on them. Actually saw a couple water holes on the course, but the burns were without & dry.
They've still got a ways to go, but hitting semi-actuate shots will keep you on the green stuff and have an enjoyable round. I'll be back soon enough.

Had a 7am tee time, but was able to get out 30 minutes early, so a big thanks to the pro shop, who were a pleasure to deal with. Super easy friendly and fast check in.

A really perfect morning to play. Clear, a bit cool, but warmed up quickly. Obviously no issues with pace of play. Now the downside: While never a big fan of this course, it us "different" from most courses I play, so that's always something to look forward too. I can see they are really making an effort to improve the condition, but I need to be objective and call it like it is. The greens were awful. They were not level, bumpy, pot-marked, inconsistent, etc. They were in the process of punching all the green perimeters, so that might help, but they need to rolled as well. Lots of bare areas in the fairways, as is always the case here, but I have to admit there is more grass on the fairways than any time I've played here previously.

Because of the nature of the course, and coupled with the recent rains last week, there were many scruffy areas and plenty of mud. I can see they're trying, but there is just so much to do here, I sympathize with the maintenance staff. I hope they succeed because this is such a unique course for the area, I'd hate to see it close.

Thanks to some recent reviews trending upward, I decided to head Summerly for the first time in about 8 years. Quick Summary - still rough in spots, but for August in Lake Elsinore, Summerly was in much better shape than I expected. Not great condition by any means, but playable with some tolerance. A really fun layout, and conditions are good enough to make me want to come back.

Tees were great, no issues there.

Greens are surprisingly green and soft. Very soft. Two big issues with the greens - first being an ungoldy amount of ball marks. I've seen places with a lot of ball marks before, but Summerly wins. Every green looks like a green on a driving range at 100 yards. Second issue is there are competing grasses on the greens, and that makes speed and line vary. That being said, the grass is green and growing well for August. It is being kept long for health reasons, so they roll generally slow. All in all, greens are acceptable, and I think come winter they could be really nice.

Fairways were generally really good. 95% of the coverage is excellent, but there are still some spots that just can't seem to get grass.

Rough - avoid. Bring a beater club, it is like Palm Springs - miss the fairway and you get rocks.

Sand - fairway bunkers are hard packed - easy to hit out of. Greenside bunkers are better. no complaints about the sand for COVID time.

Glad I made the drive out, and nice to see Summerly coming back to life.

not sure how we go from 3.2 to 7.9 in one week. we had a 11ish tee time for 22 dollars well worth the fees. one quirk here is they charge 2 dollars for use of GPS charged up front but refundable if you turn it off after a few holes, its old antiquated but useful if never playing here, Informative about those pesky berns. the course is being watered to the point of some muddy spots here and there however this is a good thing as grass is actually growing. tee boxes are lush and the best part of the course, fairways are quite good with the occasional dry spots able to take nice divots no complaints, sand traps are mostly compact moist sand totally playable and able to generate an Abu dance of spin, greens are med fast roll true but all have multiple brown spots as if mown too short and way too many unrepaired ball marks. rough.. what rough its just hard dirt accept the challenge as you can clip the ball nicely. as for those well placed berns they now have some amount of water in most of them with many having lush growth in some parts which means its not just pulling your ball out of a dry creekbed, i wish there was someway to mark them with flags or posts as this would be helpful especially for newbies. overall i give this course a fun factor of 8. if things continue to progress at this rate this place should be spectacular in the spring.
