Played morning of Sat Aug 4. This is the 3rd time I've played here, and each time was an excellent experience. From the time you pull into the parking lot, the service here is attentive without being overbearing. As for the course, it is in excellent condition - particularly for August. The routing/layout is varied, interesting and challenging. I'm a big supporter of Oak Valley because of the course and the service, and Oak Quarry is right there too. My only quibble during this visit was the starter's discretion. He sent out a 2some, another 2some, followed by a 4some and a 3some. He had plenty of time to put the 2 2somes together. His lack of initiative caused undue delay on the course. This may seem minor, but one decision like this can cause delays for a whole lot of people.

Played today with RJMKK 6:30 tee time hit a free small bucket and got out right on time. Started as a twosome and quickly caught up with the twosome that went at least 15 minutes before us. On #4 we waved up the single behind us to play with us. By #7 we had waited on every hole. The marshal went up and told the guys ahead to let us play through. We got some dirty looks but they were 2 holes behind. After that we sailed around.
The course is in almost perfect condition. Tee boxes good and level.the fairways are cut close and never saw a thin spot all day. The bunkers are consistent ,not a lot of sand but no rocks.
The greens are almost perfect. Very few ball marks,smooth,quick and in my opinion most importantly consistent speed.
I love the challenge here and the unique holes cut into the old quarry. 14 is just the best par 3 I have ever played and today I got a par!!

I'll admit up front that I am too lazy tonight to go into a chapter and verse description and review of The Rock, so you can delve into the archives to get the more detailed description of the course if you aren't familiar with it. Teed off with my brother around 2:30 and all around conditions were great today. Due to managing them in the hot weather, the greens can sometimes be a touch shaggy and garner mediocre reviews, but today they were a very nice quick speed that tracked well and were a pleasure to putt on. Bunkers were very firm as usual, but impeccably groomed and consistent. Everything else, tee to green, was spot on. The temps were low 80's which is very comfortable for Riverside this time of year and the breeze was about +two clubs when hitting directly into it. The course was pretty open and , with the exception of a goofy five-some, the groups in sight all seemed to be two-somes. And I'll admit on the back end that I love this course.

Out to Riverside area today to play OQ for the first time this year ... was reluctant earlier due to reviews here on GK complaining about slow greens which I dislike. Since this spring, the reviews have not focused on greenspeed so much so I gave it a go with a couple of buds on a warm, cloudy, and humid morning. Teed off ontime @ 7AM and played in just under 4.5 hours at a leisurely pace, very little waiting ... over 55 senior rate (yep, I'm there) was $55 ... did not use GolfNow offer (Johnny would approve). If you've played here before you know the layout is canyon golf in a beautiful setting and some challenging holes, nothing over the top difficult but you need to keep it in the fairways due to the environmental hazards. Course knowledge is important here but the carts have super nice GPS showing distances to hazards, greens, and the carts in front of you ... nice if you've never played here. Fairways and rough were, well, close to immaculate: a few brown spots here and there ... greenskeeper is doing a great job. Tee boxes were mostly in very good to excellent shape ... the par 3 boxes had lots o' divots is all. Bunkers: well, hard pan but very playable, at least the greenside bunkers ... some fairway bunkers had standing water due to extra irregation during this hot spell, and they seemed much firmer. Okay, the greens: the speed was not too much an issue but they are very grainy ... I'm sure that cost us several strokes as we are used to much faster greens. But they weren't to the point where I would not play or recommend OQ, I just would like a closer mown putting surface. Put Goose Creek's greens here and this place would be the premier course in the IE.

Food afterward was very good in the onsite restaurant. Young waitress was nice and very attractive. All around customer service was excellent. Yes, I would highly suggest you to visit OQ anytime soon ... I'll be back for sure. I even buzzed by the managers office and told him so.

Played on 6/17/12 Fathers Day. Course was challenging and fun. Was my first time playing but it seems the hole ratings coincide with the wind which made it a lot more difficult. The fairways were in great condition and the tee boxes were solid grass wise but a little unlevel at times. Greens were strange, they didnt look great but played fairly smooth. The main thing that was frustrating was the difference in speed from green to green. I imagine the wind played into this a great deal but depending on the hole it was a massive difference in the speed of the green which made it tough to hit puts well on the first putt.

The rough was very uneven (supposedly at the same cut level). Some parts were nearly 5 inches while others barely affected the ball. The main complaint was the pace of play. Our round was over 5 1/2 hours and it kind of kills any rhythm. Par 3's were backed up multiple groups and some people were just terrible out there slowing it pretty heavily. Dont know if this is the regular experience but it did make the course a little less attractive. Overall very fun course would have just liked the marshalls to be a little more active.

Played early Wednesday morning, course is usually in top shape. Fairways are almost perfect right now. My only complaint is that the while the greens are smooth they are running pretty slow right now. Still one of my favorite layouts in the IE. Staff was very friendly. Well worth the greens fee.

Played on 6/13 as a twosome (using the Roger Dunn Birdie Card only $39!) and was able to get out early. The course was in great condition. Once we got passed a really slow foursome, it was smooth sailing.
Service: Always great, bags picked up from the car. Starter was a very nice guy. Saw a Marshall on a couple of the holes, but not sure if he had to enforce anything or not.
Tee box: For the most part was leveled. Some of the par 3's were pretty hacked up
Fairways: Best I have seen it. Very smooth and tight. They were mowing some of the fairways as we played. There were some brown spots, but I noticed that they had the sprinklers on and aimed at those ares.
Sandbox: Sand was wet in the 3 bunkers that I was in. Wasn't the softest sands. Probably the weakest part of the golf course.
Rough: Decent length.
Green: I thought the greens were decent but not consistent. They were slow for Oak Quarry standards and may have been affected by the cooler AM weather. I felt the greens on the front 9 was a tad longer and slower. The back 9 greens were a tad faster and nice. The balls were sticking because it was still a little damp when we played. All in all, there were in pretty decent conditions.

All in all, we had a great round.

Went out on May 31st and the course was in magnificent condition. The only drawback is the sand in the bunkers. Everything else was pristine. Pace was never a problem, Service as always was fantastic. A public course that makes you feel like your at a private course. My favorite course in the LA Orange Inland Empire area. Worth the 65 mile drive. Best bang for the buck. Thanks Oak Quarry. Just please get some nice sand in those bunkers. I spend quite a bit of time at the beach. Worth the drive. Never a disappointment. I love this place.
