I was originally going to hold off posting a review since I would be playing this course again just a few short days later.

Date: 2/25/13
Time: 1030am
Tee: Blue/Black combo (since it was a weekday,markers were moved back on some holes).
Pace of Play: 3 Ball (two of us playing this layout the first time). 4 hrs 15 mins.
Weather Conditions: 10 MPH breeze,upper 60's at the start.


Greens: Excellent conditions overall, speed very consistent, maybe a few spots on the green where the Po Annua was flowering, still rolled true & smooth. Approach shots seemed to be running off the green from all distances. :(

Bunkers: Green side bunkers sand was soft (not fluffy),I'm use to hard pan! My bunker game needs work to adjust for these softer conditions, NOT at all knocking the ground crew who have done an excellent job! Fairway bunkers are a different texture mix which is the way they should be, minus the extra pebbles (my all terrain wedge was in the bag!)

Tee Boxes: Perfect but then again maybe because I played the Black/Blue tee boxes vs the more forward white tees?

Fairways: Overall excellent conditions, ball sat up perfectly, never had a bad lie in the fairway. Just a note, there are a few very small areas that had patches of grass & dirt NOTHING to complain about just a notation.

Rough: very manageable right now, about 2 1/2"- 3" at the highest.

Layout: LOVED it!!! Very secluded, RURAL, like you are the only ones playing the course, no homes in reach or in sight like the CHAMPIONS layout. Each Par 3 is unique and different from the others.

Hole #7 has some washout damage which is being repaired, not affecting play at all.

What a BEAST of a HOLE and I don't care if it's downhill either! Hole# 5 463 yards PAR 4 which plays from the Black @ 493 and 515 from the GOLD. It is the #1 handicap hole on the course because of the length? NO! Several green side bunkers can easily attract your approach shot which are stroke killers IF you miss the green.

Cust Service: Very friendly, easy going, polite, you can take the cart & load up at your vehicle before & after the round. FOR THOSE WHO NEED TO KNOW, the cart girls came by four times to check on us.

Definitely a course I would enjoy playing over & over and not get bored like some other layouts. A long drive for us but totally worth it!

Restaurant: We decided to catch an early dinner after our round, excellent food & service. In the past, have heard other golfers enjoy the breakfast/lunch portions.

Played Monday Feb 18, noonish. Course is in GREAT condition except most of the traps were dense and wet. They must have had some bad weather recently as they are usually quite nice. Fairways are lush and green, greens were smooth and FAST. Some of the tee boxes need some minor leveling work. Pace of play could've been better but they did send a marshal out when we called for some speed-up help! After that we finished in 4 1/2 hours which is pretty good on a holiday. Overall this is a great course with enough challenge to keep everyone on their toes. It's not a punishing course though- it plays fair. The greens tend to be large and undulating but they break true. My favorite kind of green! We saw the refreshment cart multiple times. Customer service was good. It was especially nice to play for $30 including cart!! Check the course website for good deals! I really enjoy this course and play it every chance I get!

Played 2-18-13. Perfect day for golf. Course is almost back to what it was. For winter it is in great shape. Fairways were perfect and the rough varied a lot. Sometimes deep and other time not much longer than the fairways. The only negative was with the traps. Most were very wet and some had large puddles in them. Overall the course is great. Looking forward to playing again.

Played 1/5/12 at 10:30am with my brother. It was very windy and cold but it started to warm up as the day wore on. Although the wind didn't let up at all which made the back nine brutal as most of the holes were against the wind.

Course right now is in fantastic shape. Greens were nice, firm and rolling true at medium/fast pace. Fairways were lush as were the rough. Tee boxes were level. I was only in the bunker once but they were nice and fluffy. Overall, great track. I'd love to come by here again and play when it isn't so windy.

Played w/sr129 (Steve) on Sat 12/1. He had a coupon for $33 green fee. This is an outstanding deal for this golf course.
This is the first time I've played here since the bunkers have been worked. What an improvement! Fluffy sand and nicely groomed. Steve made a couple of great shot out of them by the way. Fairways and rough were lush with the rough around 3"-5". Greens were medium. The rain from the previous day slowed them down a bit. The only complaint I have is the tee boxes. Some were on the thin side and the par 3 boxes are severely not level.
I hope this is on the to do list and will fixed soon.
One other thing, the snack shack off the 10th tee has never been open any time I've played there. If the course management doesn't want to man it, consign it out to another party. You need something out there since you don't come back to the club house at the turn.

Played today with my cousin and his son and gk'er wdement who answered my post on the meet me at section.
We tee'ed off a few minutes early after a small bucket and a few minutes on the putting green. They have a very nice grass range.
Tee boxes were ok for the most part. A few were a little thin but not too bad
The fairways are in nice shape for this time of year. Even after yesterday's rain we had nice lie's. the rough was thick in places and your ball really sat down.
The bunkers have plenty of nice soft sand ( I was in way to many today!).
The greens ran medium speed and true very few ball marks.
Overall a very nice round I have played here three times and plan to go back soon.

Played on the morning of 11/17. The course was very wet from the rains (I'm guessing) which impacted the conditions quite a bit so I'll be posting a review only, no rating.

The good: The greens were in very good shape and were running fast!! They are a bit difficult to read due to the undulations, but I cannot complain about the conditioning.
The bad: Par 3 tee boxes. Yikes. Mounds and humps aplenty making finding an even lie near impossible.
The good: All other tee boxes were great.
The good: The sections of the bunkers that weren't underwater far exceeded my expectations. Good sand in a good amount.
The bad: Lots of shoddy areas around the greens. Bare patches in the rough made worse by the water dumped on the course.
The good: 80% of the fairways were in great shape. Balls sat up great on the grass and people appeared to be filling in their divots (!)
The bad: The other 20% of the fairways. There was some definite maintenance going on on a few fairways, but no GUR signs or white lines anywhere to be seen.
The good: Cart girls came by 4 times.
The bad: Halfway house snack shop was closed at 11:00 on a Saturday (Why?)
The bad: No GPS, and I saw about one labeled sprinkler head all day. On a course like this, I find that ridiculous. The 100-150-200 yard markers are tiny as well and half overgrown with grass.
The good: On site restaurant was very good!

Overall: It's tough to gauge this course with it being so wet and I'm surprised the course doesn't drain better. Even if the course were dry I don't see why some of the ratings for this place are so high. I'm not a big fan of the layout in the first place, but I might be back if the price is right. It's hard to justify coming here (1 hour 20 minute drive) when there is (in my opinion) a much better course right across the freeway.

2nd day of our little getaway to Morongo. Yesterday my wife and I played Champions course and today we played Legends. Same great deal pre-booked through GolfNow.

The course conditions were pretty much the same as Champions course (see review) and the weather today was only slightly warmer than yesterday. Seemed to be a lot of maintenance going on with numerous vehicles up and down course.

This course has a little more kick to it than Champions, many canyons, barrancas, and the greens had ridiculous undulations. Lots of forced carries and doglegs abound. The wind going out added to your drives, but coming in it was nothing short of punishing.

Two complaints here, one is the same as the other course, no GPS and difficult trying to find yardage markers. The other is that this course does not make it back to the clubhouse after 9 holes, it plays 18 straight holes. There is a snackbar after the ninth hole, but it was closed. The cart girl was nowhere to be seen, so we got hungry and thirsty and were only able to live off our packed water and pretzels. Next time, we'll definitely plan better.

All in all, these two tracks (Legends and Champions) are nice courses, with excellent deals. I'd recommend you play both if you get a chance.

1st round of 2 on 11/10. Tee off at ~6:30am as a 2 some and barely saw anyone else on the course. Took our time and finished in less than 3.5 hours. The fairways were mostly lush, but for some reason had a good amount of bald/damaged areas. I was lucky enough to not get into any. The fairway rough ares weren't well kept at all. The best part of the course were the greens. They were in great shape, smooth, and rolled true. I loved them.
