Played two rounds today at both courses. Both tracks are in great condition. Fairways, rough, and greens are in excellent condition. The course was playing very fast and firm today (May have been to due the 20 mph consistent wind). Greens were lightning quick and got faster and firmer as the day and wind got longer and faster. Overall it's always a great time here and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Played 12/18, course is in pretty good shape (except for some standing water in a few bunkers). Rough is getting pretty thick, balls are starting to sit down, makes it a little more difficult for most shots. Still a little patchy around some of the greens. Greens were good, generally run a little faster than Champs layout. Wind picked up just as we were teeing off, temp dropped about 10 degrees in 5 minutes, but overall was a good day for golf!

Greenskeeper must have broken up with his girlfriend, pin positions were NASTY! LOL

Played 12-15-13 with a group of GK'ers. Course is in decent shape. Fairways were lush and greens were running pretty fast. Biggest complaint was that several bunkers had a lot of water in them. Deep enough my ball was completely submerged. There has not been any rain for over a week so not sure what is happening there. Tee boxes were in good shape. Pace was OK but we did a bit of waiting on the back 9. Driving range was very torn up to the point that it was hard to find a grass patch to hit off of. Still a favorite of mine but I have seen it in better shape.

Played 12/15/13, Sunday, with SBogey, CPennBo (Happy Bday), and rstang06. Had an all day play coupon, but we met up for 1130 tee time due to our skeds. Beautiful day but EXTREMELY WINDY...constant 15mph w/gusts up to 30!! High Pressure/Santa Ana conditions. rstang06 and I have never played this course, so it was a major Plus to have fellow GKers with prior knowledge/insight of the course's many 'hidden layouts'. If you can hit it down the middle here you're going to be good to go; provided you can navigate around the deep bunkers protecting approach shots to the greens. OMG the Greens!!! Still having shudders over the fact there wasn't a one that didn't have you second guessing the numerous slopes/tiers/and tricky pin placements, not to mention speed variances. Perfect roll to the hole and then off it went left/right! I pride myself on being a pretty exceptional putter, but these greens humbled me quickly. Was somewhat disappointed to see the numerous ball marks left unrepaired by earlier golfers...just Unsat! >:( Tee boxes were for the most part level and lush. Several were quite unlevel though (Red Tees especially), and fairly divotted up. Fairways were good overall and still pretty green (not browned out as typical for most courses this time of year). Bunkers were 50/50...some were 50 rocks/pebbles and 50 sand; others were 50 water puddles/50 wet sand; and others were 50 fluffy sand/50 hard pack...so you got your fair share of options to practice getting out of. ;) Carts were not equipped with GPS, which this course really should look at investing into due to the many hidden greens and severe doglegs. Several holes were hard to see where golfers were in front of you, posing great possibility of getting hit up on/in to. Missed hits on this course on either side were penalized by scrub shots/lost balls. The water hazards on this course (Legends), were mainly dry (obviously fill with rains/run-off), with exception of Hole #18. That green was just Nasty!! Coot/Duck and who knows what other kind of feces squirted all over it...Water fowl are just that...Foul!. But despite that the course was enjoyable, a bit frustrating, challenging, very serene/scenic, and full of surprises. We saw a beautiful Coyote and Arnold Schwarzenegger BOBCAT on the same hole. Coyote had gone one way, and Bobcat came strolling up and across the rough in back of green, then up past our carts into the bushes (while we were on the green). Amazing! Cart Girl came around frequently (I believe we saw her about 4 or 5 times), which is important as the Legends track is one large circle with no adjacent running holes or option of stopping in at the Clubhouse. There is a Halfway Snack Shack at Hole #10; however, it is/has been Closed for some time. No ice chests on carts, but there is a ball/club washer. Practice facilities are nice. Grass Driving Range and separate, fairly large putting and chipping areas. Snack bar a little tricky to find from the Pro Shop. Note: Their restaurant Closes early Sundays (a little disappointing as I was ready to indulge on the exquisite looking food items I checked out on their website menu earlier), so plan accordingly food-wise. We didn't see the Starter until we tee'd up and then he came up and provided us with scorecards (none were on either of our carts). Scorecards provide some insight into the layout of the holes, and pin placement (which the Starter informed us of as well). Starter was friendly and courteous. Pro Shop staff at check in was very pleasant and patient (as I had only brought one coupon versus two, so I had to use their wifi and pull up the other info on my cell phone). The overall beauty of this course and facilities are simply wonderful. A decent challenge for players of all levels. Truly enjoyed this course, and the ability to play with other Great GKer friends. We managed to get in all 18 on Legends, and 4 more in on the Champions before the darkness/cold/wind made us surrender to the gorgeous fire red sunset sky. Would like to try this course again (without wind, and a little earlier in the year)/will certainly be keeping an eye out for other great deals. :) (Note: my Rated conditions are too low...don't know how I goofed that up...not a 5.0; more like a 6.5/7.0) Just this novice golfin gals opinions.

Played last Sunday, and all in all course is looking good for winter. There are some dry yellow patches on tee boxes and fairways but not much. Starter got us out exactly on our tee time, and the greens were rolling nice and true. Some bare spots on the greens.

The 18th green was completely covered by duck feces from the pond next to the 18th hole. But despite that the course looks decent.

Played 11-2-13. Had a voucher for unlimited golf so took advantage. The course is still a bit torn up. Lots of unfilled divots some with grass some without. Rough was very punishing. Mostly in the 5" range. Felt like US Open conditions. The sand was pretty bad. Hard pack throughout. Some of the green side bunkers had been fluffed a bit but were still hard as a rock. Fairway bunkers had as many pebbles as sand. Greens looked like they had been punched but were 99% healed and very fast. The pin placements were diabolical as well. On some holes the ball would roll right up to the hole straight at it and curve away and around the hole at the last second. It made it tough to leave the ball close as it would roll away and down hill and leave a 5 footer coming back. Still love playing here but it needs some TLC to get back to what it was.

First time playing at this course and had a decent round. Layout wasn't tough as I expected but if you miss, might as well take your poison and move on. Conditions were good this time of year and the pace of was about 4.5/hr on weekends is not bad. Fairways were lush and very few thin spots and/or water logged. The rough, however, were thick and lush. Really need to club up and open the face so that you're able to "cut" thru the grass. Bunkers were decent with 1-2 holes water logged. Greens was medium to fast and rolling pretty true. Difficult to read breaks as undulations and elevations were the factors. But I think I avg 2 putts for my round. Will return and try Champions

I played the Legends course on two consecutive days, 8/19 and 8/20/2013, at the SCGA Affiliate Club Championship. Weather during the tournament was clear, sunny and hot, with not very much wind, and for the most part the course played pretty firm. I’ve always liked the course layout and secluded ambiance (although now there are a lot of homes and remnants of construction around). The complex went through some changes in ownership after the original PGASC opening, and the conditions of the courses suffered – now the new tribal ownership appears to be putting some effort into improving the course conditions. Greens all looked good, rolled well at medium fast speed, and held shots. Greens were the most consistent aspect of the course. Greens on the Legends course are generally pretty large, but subtle ridges and contours and more obvious tiering break the greens up into distinct sections, and you need to be in the correct section to have a good look at making putts. With all the hills and creeks/arroyos running through the course, the green breaks had no consistent basis and each hole needs to be approached with fresh eyes. Putting from just off the greens was chancy, determined by where you wound up, either easily done from dry firm areas with little grass, and more problematically in areas where turf growth was heavier. Two players could each be five feet off the same green and have totally different lies. Green surrounds were generally good, with adequate turf and good conditions. The grass in the rough areas around the greens was just sticky enough to require players to “pop” their pitch shots out as opposed to “brushing” them out, as is possible in the thinner, lighter grass in the Vegas area, etc. Around the greens, depending on drainage/sprinkler coverage, turf depths ranged from 1” to as much as 4” only a few yards off the greens. Rough was inconsistent in the manner discussed for green surrounds, with some areas lush and deep, and other dry and almost bare, depending on drainage and sprinkler coverage. There were areas where we couldn’t find a ball until we were on top of it, and it’s not that far here from 4” rough to small bushes in dry ground to bare, hard-baked dirt – all on the same hole and all in play. Sand traps are an area where the course is making obvious strides. All of the greenside bunkers have been renovated and received new sand recently, and coverage and playability from those bunkers was good and conditions very consistent. Fairway bunkers looked completely different – they had been machine raked, but sand cover was almost non-existent (most looking like bare dirt). Fairway bunker conditions were so poor that SCGA chose to play all fairway bunkers as GUR, and players dropped out of those bunkers at the closest point of relief. Tees were generally good – level, good turf, large enough to accommodate all the tourney players, even on par 3s. There were scattered areas with irrigation/drainage problems with turf damage, sloppy wet areas, higher-than-elsewhere grass growth, etc. – I seemed to find quite a few of these!!! Course facilities are nice, with a large clubhouse, restaurant that was always pretty busy, snack bar for the turn on the Champions course (but snack bar after #9 on Legends, miles from the main clubhouse, was closed), and saw the cart girl several times during each round. Sure wish this complex was a little closer to Orange County!! Recommended.

Played today on a coupon special $30 incl cart. Customer service was great, clubs picked up at car, no waiting at check-in, went out 15 mins before our tee time (8:15am scheduled), not many players out there. Nice balmy golf weather got some drizzles, some wind, other wise a perfect golf day.

Tee boxes - most not level, some with dry spots, but no divots
fairways - some bald spots, some divots, some areas GUR, rolled decent
rough - it was rough, over 3-4 in, grabbed the club, and on some got jumpers.
greens - best part of course right now, slow when we started, sped up due to wind drying them out on back 9, a bit fluffy to prevent sun burn, not many ball marks, and rolled true
bunkers - sub par, mostly packed dirt

overall it was a nice round, 4 hr pace which was not bad, could have been 3.5 but group in front was a bit slow. The Champions 18 was being aerated and sanded but some players were going out, maybe a discount rate but nothing was mentioned. We would not have played it anyway.
