Played on Friday with gk'er wdement for our 1st round GK Match Play (East) match. First time I've played here. Overall, Legends is a great course. The layout is links style, as it's 9 out and 9 in, instead of the swinging back each 9. Course seems like it was laid naturally through the canyon area, secluded from the surroundings. You get a glimpse of houses on the 6th, but none are in play. Each hole is unique, and I used almost every club in the bag.

Service: Very minimum contact with the staff. Check in was fine, and answered all my questions. They did let me know the halfway house was closed, so I should grab something from the snack bar. Cart staff was non existent. They handed me a key and cart #, and I loaded it up. At the end of the day, drove it out to the lot, unloaded, and dropped it back off. That may be a positive though. Saw the drink cart 4 times.

Course: Conditions were good. Tee boxes on the Par 4s and 5s were great. The Par 3 tee boxes are not leveled from golfers filling in their divots with sand, and have created mounds on the boxes. Fairways were in great condition with very little divot damage. Greens were punched almost 3 weeks ago, and you can not tell. Roll fairly smooth, but were slow. Outside of the 18th green, they were in very good shape and firm. The 18th green has some coot damage, especially on the edge of the water. Rough was long and fluffy in most places causing the ball to sit up (and me to pop it up).

Overall, I would love to play this course again. Great layout and conditions. We had a online price of almost 1/2 the regular rate, which was a steal.

have not played here in years, course still great, traps still suck. mostly an aesthetic thing as faces of bunkers are totally hardpan. bottoms are firm with little rocks. considering how large and deep they are, great beach property for the millions of ground squirrels that inhabit them. greens still have some sand on them but roll well, although difficult to read. fairways great and very wide. on and around the greens probably courses main defence.

I first want to make mention of the excellent customer service I received. My buddy and I arrived to play yesterday 10/23. Without realizing it, I booked a tee time for Thursday 10/27. The young man behind the counter let me know that the reservation was for a different date. Needless to say, I was slightly embarrassed. However, he was most gracious and honored the the reservation and let me know it was no big deal. I notified the starter of the situation since I was not on the player list. He was just as gracious as the young man before. He worked us in and paired us up with a really nice couple. How I just love top notch customer service!

Now about the course...The greens are in great shape. Probably some the best greens I've played this year. Very receptive on approach shots yet, pretty fast and true.

There are some bare spots in the fairways, most on the back nine, due to rooting pigs.
I suggest they put out some game cameras and determine the extent of the population they have onsite. I would then contact the CA Dept. of Fish and Game for a plan to eradicate or trap them.

The tee boxes and traps need work. The post from the Superintendent a few weeks ago assured me that this was in the works.

Overall, I had a great time and was pretty happy with the course conditions.

Played the Legends course with a friend on Friday morning. First the good: Customer service was excellent from check in, to starter, and cart girls who came by frequently during the round. The practice facilities are very nice and I really enjoyed the course layout. Also, the greens were rolling well but there was some divot damage.

Here is the bad: Sandtraps are not really sand but hard compacted dirt. Fairways were a bit thin but some sort of burrowing animals are really doing damage to the fairways, especially on the back nine. My buddy hit a shot in the middle of the fairway that just disappeared down a gopher hole! There were holes all over the place on this particular hole (I think 16).

This course is enjoyable but management needs to address the condition of the traps and fairways.

Played on Friday 9/23. Have yet to see any improvements since the purchase by the Morongo Indians. Still no GPS on the carts and the cheesy scorecards they hand out are printed on copy paper. Course is in descent shape but, the same ole complaint is that the dirt traps (can't say sand trap if there is no sand) are awful. I pulled a rock out of one that was the size of my fist.
They also have a new problem out there. Wild pigs are rooting up some spots on the fairways...mainly on the back nine. I volunteered to help them eradicate them if they need help. Seriously, this could be a major problem. Especially if they start rooting up the greens.

Very varied and extensive track - at times you feel completely lost or way out there. No 2 holes run parallel - in fact, each one is framed with its own distinct characteristics (elevation, canyons, waste areas, hazards etc.) so that each hole is like a unique little experience.

Considering they were aerated less than 2 weeks ago, the greens were coming back nicely. Obviously they were shaggy and well-watered (soft) so they still need a bit more time. What I don't get are all the unrepaired ball-marks.

Fairways generally very good - just a few bare spots and occasional kikuya patches. Rough was super juicy and healthy. Right on the verge of US open stuff. So if you put your ball in it pay attention as it gets swallowed up and you won't be able to find it unless you are right on top of it. Hybrid or hack it out and take one's medicine as they say.

Sand was in a couple of times and it was crusty from a lot of watering and firm/thinnish throughout. Tees good!

Played 14 holes in about 2.20 so pace was good until I caught up to 3's and 4's. A unique golf course and if in top shape then it's hard to beat for the rack rates (I got 30 bucks twilite). Also, very nice, large practice areas with free balls.

Played on July 14th. It was in great shape. My long ball buddy decided we should play from the tips, so it was quite a challenge at 7400! But the layout is great, the holes are all fair, although 2 of the hole locations were placed directly on ridges in the green which is annoying. Some rocks in the beautifully sculpted bunkers. All in all, a great golf experience. The greens are difficult to read... i think they are bent grass, which makes reading the grain VITAL . Uphill and in to the grain you have to pound it, and it breaks less. Downhill, down grain, play more break and account for more speed. We played for $29 through a booking on golfnow.com. Totally worth it. Awesome practice facility and great customer service! I hadn't been here since it was called East Valley, a couple years ago. I think it called Tukwet Canyon Golf club now. A bit of a haul, but worth it.

Played today and it was 95 degrees. We saw the beverage cart between number 8 and 9. That was the last time. We had to play the next 8 holes with no drinking water! We called the pro shop at number 14 where they have restrooms and drinking fountains, however the drinking fountains do not work!!!!!! Finally on hole 17 we were able to get a drink of water. When finishing our round we saw a young man in front of the cart barn with a jug of water on the back of his cart and cups. When asked he said he was heading out now. Wow, do people have to die of dehydration on this course before they take water out?
