They are working to bring this course into better shape. The fairways are looking great. The greens are rolling fairly fast and true. The tee boxes continue to be a problem with not many completely level (but they do seem to be working on fixing this). The sand...well, isn't. More like hard packed mud. Still this track offers some unique challenges and requires you to shape a lot of shots to fit the challenges. They do need to work on course management as they often have too many groups booked and play is SLOW. Its the only game in town and it's worth playing just for the experience.

Course still in reasonably good condition as of Labor Day weekend.

We thought our last experience here was perhaps just a bad circumstance and didn't comment on it in our review, but the experience repeated itself twice this weekend both Saturday and Sunday. Some of the staff has an attitude that they are the only game in town and you will play here "whether you like it or not.." Surly comments, rude and very strict enforcement of "course policies" and just a general attitude that as a customer you are interrupting their day makes for as less than ideal experience.

Very unfortunate. I am sure that our experience, now repeated on all three of our rounds here this summer, is not isolated to our group. Perhaps when they notice that the rounds are down while course conditions are improved they will ask themselves why.....but not likely.

It is a very fun course, with some water and an elevated green/tee. I would definately play this course again when staying in the area. Golf in the mountains you can't beat it, plus you'l think you actually hit the ball far. :-P

Bear Mountain is in better condition right now than it has been anytime in recent memory. Certainly not the meadow/pasture of yesteryear. It appears the renovation and transformation are on-going with some new tee box's and areas where previously deferred maintenance are being addressed. The staff and management are really on their "A" game this year.

This is our home course- with all it's quirks. It's an interesting LITTLE track for anyone looking for something different. (really a 9 hole) Narrow fairways and some surprise challenges. (try the forward tees on #8- standing in the middle of a large pond on a little pad!) They really worked on the greens this year and they are much better!! However there isn't a level tee box anywhere at any distance. Some are "almost" level but most are atrocious. If you don't mind playing with one foot up, one foot down, and the ball sitting higher or lower than either one then you'll be in heaven!

Not bad for a tiny mountain course. Way overpriced but it's the only game in town so what's a local to do? Narrow fairways, thick rough. They've been doing some work off-season to improve the course but the greens are still slow and "bumpy". You can't putt here like you would on real greens. A couple of challenging holes. Water and/or creeks come into play on several holes. Weekends can find it full of folks out for fun so if quick play is your thing play weekdays. Weekends are generally very busy.
