Bear Mountain is showing the benefits of a wet winter. The fairways are mid season lush and the greens are running smooth and fast. Traps tend to be firm though the one I was in last week was soft and fluffy. My only complaint with the course is that the greens get so firm it is difficult to stop the ball on them. It can be frustrating to drop your shot on the front of the green and have the ball roll off the back. The cost is still high for 9 holes but it beats having to drive off the mountain. If you are visiting it is worth playing for a casual fun round. There are plenty of challenges so check it out!

Have played twice in the last few weeks. The course is finally looking almost back to its normal lovely self! The fairways have filled in and are mostly lush. The rough is just long enough and thick enough to punish if you go wide. Most of the greens are rolling true and relatively fast! They don't hold really well but that's typical of this high mountain course. The white and blue tees are for the most part level and well filled in. More than half of the forward tees can't claim either of those things. Played on Sunday and the beverage cart came around quite a few times. I still find the course over priced but as the only game in town they can do what they want. (cart fees are now included) Pace tends to be slow on weekends and the marshals are....well, not really. It's a beautiful course, narrow and challenging but not too long. The scenery and views are gorgeous and it's easy to find yourself relaxing into a nice easy groove. Definitely play it if you're in the area.

I played here yesterday with SBogey and his buddy, Bobby. It was my first time here and the course is in nice condition. Check in was nice; the guy there gave me a small discount, charging me $30, cart included. The small chipping green near one tee is nothing to write home about but the greens on the course were very nice. Nice and soft with high shots, but they don't seem to hold anything coming in hot. They rolled true, and break away down slope more than you think. With that said, the hot tip of the day is aim for the front of the green in most cases. The mountain will have an effect on your putts and the elevation seems to add a little more to each shot. Turf grass in the fairways was mostly lush with a few areas that needed more work. The rough was lush, thick, and mostly penal. I was in one bunker and it did need some raking to fluff up the packed sand. We had a small (20 minute) lightning delay due to a nearby storm. Course personnel came around and made sure all were off the course. We left our balls around and on 6 green and finished afterward. This is a very scenic course and it is mostly lush right now. I would recommend it when in the area.

Played 7-29-18. Course has reached the playable state. Greens mostly healed and rolling true. Fairways green and very minimal brown. Tee boxes are in good shape. The course has joined with the current trend of including cart fees with green fees. $35 for 9 holes is a bit extreme if you ask me but it is the only game in town as they say. Compared with driving off the mountain to play a regular course adds at least an hour each way so they have us over a barrel. I buy the 10 round pass which makes each 9 $19 but then have to pay for the cart separate so its $26 total. Since I'm a senior now it's not much of a break but I don't mind walking. If you are considering playing now is a good time to do it.

Well the course continues to improve. It is about where it was last year when it opened. Greens are firming up and picking up speed but still short of last year. Tee boxes are mostly disappointing. Chewed up and uneven on many tees. Fairways still have some brown but rolling nice and mostly nice lies. Bunkers are in good shape. Firm but fluffy so very playable. At this rate it will be September before the course is in top shape. The price has gone up and now they are charging 1 price whether you walk or ride. Kind of rude if you ask me.

Have been playing at least once a week for a few weeks now. The course is FINALLY starting to resemble it's best self! The afternoon rains have helped I'm sure. The fairways are looking lush, the rough is growing in, most tee boxes are looking fairly nice. Some of the greens still have 'sick' spots but overall they are looking much better and rolling pretty nicely. They don't have a lot of 'stick' yet so spin is a must. There's a lack of consistency in speed from green to green too. BUT they are getting there. I would not hesitate to recommend playing this little course now. (compared to two months ago that's saying a LOT!)
